Does that work on a Tiguan which randomly throws Turbo Actuator Position codes, if so PM me plz That one has had umpteen Positioners and adjustments, all it does is flash GP lamp and pop the code, but it still drives absolutely perfectly, it just annoys the guy

Exactly this, all 4 cyl VAG Diesels are a bastard at the best of times for Boost / EGR codes, but fitting cheap parts which are almost always Chinese shit just makes it worse Make sure it hasn't got an Air Leak too HTH,

Hi, Thank you for your help with this. This particular machine is made by Johnson Controls All I did was ask the owner if it would time out, he said if I wasn't using it for MOT's then it doesn't time out and won't need updates and Calibration Cert :- He said :- "Hi Dave - no you have to keep them calibrated every year for VOSA records if you are doing MOTs and they will require updates as and when they command. If you are not doing MOTs then you can use it to check emissions without it it ever timing out. And yes it tests all of the emissions for the MOT test. If you come to collect we can demonstrate it working for you." Could you please elaborate on this "time out" I don't really want to spend £100, (more so the hassle of 120 mile drive to go get it), and then find it stops working in a month ............. I know nothing about MOT Gas Testers lol, when I used to test there was no Emissions Test For example is your Gas tester connected to VOSA via internet ?? How can I tell if / when it will time out ? LOL, some Mercedes SDS Diagnostics do expire, but you can re keygen them, or just set the date back on them ................ like I said, Emission Testers I know 'nuffeeeeeeeeenk" TIA -
I don't exactly need it, but I got a good deal lol

That 1/4 is a half I'm hanging fire on that Gunsons, it only measures CO as far as I can tell, nice compact unit though. I rang the Guy with the MOT Test unit, he says if I'm not actually an MOT Test Station there is no need for updates, it doesn't time out etc, reads Lambda HC and CO, Petrol Gas Test and Diseasel Opacity, so I've bid him a cheeky £100 which he is gonna consider and let me know -

OK well this print out today wasn't at my usual guys MOT station, but another more local one did it a couple of times, revved the knackers off it just before and got it to scrape a pass ........................ It also has the "Boy Racer" K&N Air Filter, so I'm gonna take that off and give it a good soak and clean before the test tomorrow I decided not to go to my guy today, as I can plead all ignorance tomorrow and he can see I've changed the Lambda and Plugs and it's a helluva lot better than it was yesterday That way he might help out a bit like JD did today and get it to scrape through, sadly he was too busy today to do the rest of the test for me lolololol ....................... -

Nah, I don't think he'd know how, but I just looked down it, internal brick looks good .................... All he'd done was put a "Cherry Bomb" back box on it My tester would have let it through, but the poison dwarf at the other Garage is just a tosser, there is nothing wrong with the Sparco Pedals that have been properly fitted either I can't post up all 4 figures because I can't remember, but tester said straight away Lambda Sensor, and he's quite a good mechanic too Oh, and the Heat Shield was the one above Back Box had fell off, no danger of fire as the Cherry Bomb was a lot smaller than OE Silencer, but I have now refitted the one that had fell off with big washers -
Just bought this off the Van lol, it will get used in my Van kit, already have the 3/8" drive one, this is a 1/2" Drive animal ................ Gun plus 2 Batteries & Charger and I got to swap the black carry case for a nice and big Green Snap On Holdall Bag which is too nice for the Workshop, but be good to put a few clothes in on a w/e away

Really, I'll not bother if that's the case, guy said it's all working fine, Calibration expired in Jan this year, he hasn't used it for a year or more, since he bought new I'll double check this, it's local to me in Inverness £100, has been well looked after, my MOT man didn't say they need annual updating when I told him earlier, he has Crypton, the one I'm looking at is not a Snap On / Sun DGA 2500 though I can't remember the make. Any info on the Hand Held one, I had a quick look but could only see Chinese shite ?? I'll search for Gunsons, something smaller would be better Can't remember the HC reading now, but he said it was wrong Thanks for the info Yes, full new Exhaust except CAT. Yes Lambda is def very very lazy, also it doesn't look that old, but was loose in the fannymold, probably overheated, so it's getting a new one in morning Again, cheers for the info, first Emissions failure I've had in a long long while lol -

Target Idle showing 768 RPM, Actual Idle is hovering around 762 - 777 RPM so IMHO that's ok O2 Sensor is looking quite lazy and inactive, it did have P0130 in it and EML on last week when he left it here, I cleared that and it hasn't come back yet, but I'm def gonna fit a Lambda tomorrow morning when it arrives Plugs out now, they don't look bad, will change 'em anyway but don't look at all black and sooty ................ Temp Sensors, MAP etc all looks good data, guess I'll just have to see what happens tomorrow when the bits get here BTW this Car failed at a different test station 18/03/2019, SO 03 OOY if you want a laugh, half of the fail was bollox, and the muppet missed 2 split CV Boots and Front Exhaust Flexi Broken ................ Emissions was one of the many reasons lol, everything else is now fixed Any other ideas in case the O2 Lambada don't cure it ?? -

I ragged it down there 14 miles in 3rd to get it checked, still over It's a workshop punters sons car, so I'd not ask him to stick pipe up summat else, he might do if it were one of my own , but even my modded S/C V8 Merc puts out less than the max allowance required to pass, (well it did last July) Yeah it's on the original CAT by the look of it. I'll see what the Plugs and Lambada do to it on Friday at test, might bung a bottle of snake oil cleaner in the tank too before test. I've had a couple like this recently, so to save me keep driving 28 mile round trip, I'm just looking at buying an ex MOT Emissions Tester, it can stand that in Workshop and use it when I'm in any doubts, this one was obvious, it stinks a bit when running I had an old shagged Suzuki Jeep a couple weeks ago, timing chain rattling it's arse off, I got him to check that first and it was fine ............. Go Figure -
No Fault Codes in it, (Snap On Solus Ultra), Tester reckons fit a Lambda and set of Plugs, anyone familiar with these Fix Or Repair Daily engines ?? CO is high, around 5. something and Lambda is too low on his MOT Emissions Kit It does feel flat mid range to me, but then again I'm used to V6's V8's, big CDI's etc Doesn't sound or feel like it's missing, anything common to look for on this boy racer shit heap ??
-
Ahhh yeah, OK, so you had to do it at PO and now you'll get a new V5 yeah ? Must have been SORN'd for a few years like my "Disabled Tax" one last week, But that got a new V5 when I got it 3 years ago, I just didn't spot the Tax Class, IIRC the previous owner sent it off to DVLA

Back in the 90's I added RTB to my "Warranty" Invoice Clauses when I recovered a Chevy day van from the South of France because we had recently rebuilt the Trans in the old bus, and it seemed to be "the right thing to do" .................... When it arrived at ours I was told by the Recovery Driver what the owner / driver / wanker had omitted to tell me .................... The guy was towing a huge Power Boat, (well overweight for that Van) plus the Van and Boat was loaded to the gunnels with family, suit-cases and various waterskiing and paragliding kit Didn't earn fuck all outta that job Never again !! -
LOL, I like T18BSY , it's a good plate, will hold it's value, good on yer Daughter I have several of the S xx DAU 's in a series, the Cars look good parked in our drive next to each other !! I have B17 OOT , with a French 7, from when I used to Barefoot Waterski, it reads B/FOOT which is how the Barefooting is referred to in Waterski circles I paid a couple hundred quid off DVLA for it way back, and got offered £4500 for it at a Barefoot Tournament at Thorpe Park one summer I also have D15 KOE on my Van, all the locals here call me 'Disco Dave', I DJ'd the Pubs, Hotels / Village Hall Weddings and Parties, plus Holiday sites for years up here, that's how I got to know so many folk around these parts when we first moved up here ................. I only jacked that in in Jan this year as the Garage business is now very busy and I'm getting too old for lugging all that heavy eqpt in and out of venues late at night, do miss "The Craic" tho I've never paid more than £400 inc T/fer for a plate off DVLA, and I wouldn't, well I might pay a little more for a "MEL" one for her B/Day this year, she currently has B17OOT on her Car atm, MEL 'series' are quite a sought after plate obviously, same reason I couldn't get DAV 's at a sensible price range Each to his own regarding PP's,
-
This is the guy I use, don't bother trying to phone, just use the plate Constructor, he's real good :- https://www.fancyplates.com/ Mine look almost legal, this one just has the U narrowed to 12mm between uprights to look more like DAV (E) This is my V6 R170 SLK that will be getting an M113 V8 stuck in it over the coming winter hence the S50 for S (LK) 5.0 litre ...................... Well .............. I like it, that's what counts
-
I'll second that, whole of UK is one huge shambles !!
-
Fuckin priceless Oh dear, you've set me off now ................... Absolute tosser Coppers We have one who comes over to Kyle when a local plod is on holiday, young keen tosser, jealous personality type by the way he talks.................... I have a total of 5 pp's, and over a year or 2 he has pulled me in each of our PP'd Vehicles now !! "I don't like these Private Plates yak yak blah blah etc etc etc lecture" ......................... I always tell him "Do your worst and I will contest you every step of the way, they are legal" He never does, just advises me to get them changed, which I never do !! If your plates are legal, contest it with a Motoring Specialist Lawyer, and put in a huge claim for out of pocket exes If you are in Scotland use Dominic Sellar, Bath Street Glasgow, got me off a well over 100mph ticket with 4 points and £370 fine, (if I'd gone to court myself I'd still be on a ban now, probably jail too ), not expensive as lawyers go either, IIRC that cost me about £400, if you add the fine and his fee = £770, I'd have got more on my own, probably around £1500, long ban and 6 months porridge !! That guy is fuckin' good !! These poxy "modern" Cops need to go do some real Police work, which of course they are not going to do because the motorist is the easiest target !!

/\ /\ /\ +1 I was in Glasgow at the weekend, didn't see a single one, but I am still of the opinion that when significant numbers are plugged in then the National Grid will not cope and the result will be Power outages Exactly, think of the cost to build a load of new Power Stations and upgrade the Grid and the Sub Stations IMHO they'd be better off fitting each car with a small Nuclear Reactor "Warp Factor 2 Mr Sulu"
