Too right, although the TD5 Defender I had was ex Mountain Rescue, "Ambulance" Tax category, that was free and never sussed, AFAIK the bloke who bought it off me may well still be at that one

Couldn't agree more with all of your post The trouble is where we are, just to go to the Co-Op is 28 mile round trip, Inverness is 120 miles as is FW I've not driven an i3 yet, but yeah that Tesla was much quicker to 50mph than my S55K , but by the time we got to 80 my big Merc just fucked off away from him The guy who owns the Tesla is a buddy, we ran the pair of 'em down the old Broadford Airstrip side by side, just like Top Gear it was Do not try that at Royal Docks, Gatwick or Heathrow etc
-
Good price that, however what I used to find when I rebuilt 'em was a Bearings job would only work if you do them early on ........................ If, (like the average BMW driver will do), they have done a lot of miles howling then I used to find that the CWP was worn and FUBAR and no matter what you tried, without a new CWP it would still hum away

I have driven quite a few Hybrids and EV's including a Tesla that lives in Plockton. Not impressed, I'm a die hard Petrol Head, always have been I can see the point of a small Electric or PHEV for City Use, maybe even use a PHEV for local use in a rural area. For anyone in a remote area and / or who travels length and breadth of the country, like me, GIMME a fuckin great V8 to use once or twice a week / special occasions and a quick CDI as a DD forever

/\ /\ /\ LIKE Also if IC Engines are outlawed and everyone has to switch to electric, there will be not enough capacity on national grid to charge 'em all Bus company in Inverness is using a few Electric Buses, has had to install monster Diesel Gennys as the sub station cannot supply enough juice

LOL, some good info in these few posts but ........................... Cars for Tree Huggers In reality they are no more Environmentally Friendly than a modern ICE engined vehicle, actually they are worse due to the Lithium Mining etc etc .....................
-
I don't really have a lot of experience of these cars, I have certainly never sold one, but I have fitted a couple of good used units for Workshop Customers, I'd say those 2 were Bearing / CWP failures judging by the noise they were making In the old days when down South I'd have stripped one down and seen what it needed to repair, but these days I can't be arsed, too busy Fair few in Salvage yards now. Very easy to fit To @Firefighter Wash and all ............... You do know these are a 3.45 Unit same as a BMW 318 / 320 don't you ?? Ya'all can send me a paypal donation for that little nugget I usually get a good s/h unit for around £200 - £250

Vauxhall insignia limp mode but no fault code
Dave2302 replied to Raj M's topic in General Dealer Chat
Nah, my Cat is the retard for saying there is no Code ............. LOL, @Grantlfc81 I think we all know what the problem is Yeah I agree with you tho, there are some right muppets out there doing Remaps................ But in this instance I'd like a £ for every time a Billy with a cheapo OBD pish reader has told me he doesn't want to pay for diagnostic because there is no codes in his Car, but the light is on ....................... 5 minutes on even the humble Snap On reveals a shopping list of Codes ..................... To sum it up "the light is on but no one is in" -
I think it is likely Area specific ................ In the remote area I live, all our RM Vans etc are Serviced & Repaired by the large local Garage, which in reality means, knowing some of the retards that work there, and having seen a lot of their inept efforts come through my workshop, I wouldn't touch one with "Someone Elses" However, it used to be the case when I was in Englandshire, that the RM Vans were always well looked after by their own Workshops and were therefore High Milers but a good cheap Van I suspect these days the "Bean Counters" will have closed their Workshops and now they probably use the likes of Halfrauds etc

I know a fella who started his business with £4,500 borrowed, he sold up 5 years ago for 11 million

Branching out into other areas of business
Dave2302 replied to tedwelford's topic in General Dealer Chat
I once helped out a pair of local twats who were penniless, "inherited local derelict Garage owners" and their Mechanic had just left cos he didn't get paid !! I remember the silly wifey cow pointing at a derelict outhouse and telling me she was going to "do it up" and sell Bacon Sarnies to the (dead) Garage Customers !! This was before I extended my own Workshop and started up at my own place .................... My idea was to help them out for a few weeks, suss 'em out and then make them a sensible offer for the rambling site, (which was more than it was worth), demolish everything and re build it all new.................................. Which of course they declined, while puffing on their weed, and it has now stood empty for years Fucking priceless considering she burst into floods of tears one Friday when she didn't have any money to settle my mates Invoice for some MOT's he'd done !! -
Also good if you have large profits and want to spend some of it on something worthwhile rather than simply chucking it into HMRC to become lost and sent abroad via the bottomless UK financial pit

Fuckin Priceless I'd like a squid for every time some moron has told me that When will the inept and electromechanically challenged pillocks finally realise that if the light is / has been on there WILL be a Fault Code .................... FFS And no, I'm not going to waste my time explaining !! -
LOL, fuckin knob jockey .......................

Exactly, and they all have to run at silly hot temps now, to stop things like DPF's and CAT's blocking up, do not believe the 88 degrees Crap on the temp gauge, have a look at the live data if you really wanna know what they run at these days ............... over 100c is not un common
