  1. On a couple of stickers, I was consifering chopping them to money back but on finance only - not sure of the legalities? Or maybe even a Finance price and a Cash Price - I know some car supermarkets used to do it but not sure if the world has changed since FCA.
  2. It obviously works for Simon and he has clearly had a gut full of tyre kickers and test pilots. For me (and I guess Simon too), I am always at the unit organising prep, taking cars to workshops, Smart repairer, valeters, doing paperwork, photos etc; So, I don't see an issue being "open" and letting people come and window shop - test drives and weekends are the only exception to that rule where someone has to admit whether they intend to buy or look but even then I don't insist on a deposit just old fashioned handshake. 80% of my sales are appointed, 15% are walk ons unappointed from seeing adverts online, the other 5% of repeat customers whom simply keep an eye on my webpage.

    Diesels

There’s only a few worried about diesels around my way, not enough to scare me away from them. Worriers more likely to be academics and arts n crafts types. Customers who are not normally my cup of tea.
  4. Risky IMO I would like a set of magnetic plates but I would keep the originals in the same car in case of a pull. Surely a sensible copper would appreciate what you're trying to acheive because displaying TP correctly is a PITA and open to misinterpretation depending on what the rules say at the time.
  5. One question though as my website says appointment only too: What do you do/how do you handle people who do just turn up unannounced? One of your old videos gave directions to your unit. I reckon I get 2 or 3 per week walk in unannounced and I just deal with them to the point I only enforce appointment only at weekends.
  6. I think it was you TV that told me to watch AD’s videos when I first joined the forum, you were in Thailand at the time AD. You came across as very friendly with big rosey cheeks, someone that could be trusted and certainly someone I would enjoy a beer with. The West Country accent is also amoungst the most friendly too IMO. Of course now I know what you’re really like but seriously, first impressions are important and I can see exactly why people trust to leave a dipper with you.
  7. It has been at £4,500, £4,750 and now £5,000 - price has made no difference, so I have increased the price and am waiting for that one buyer. 12 months MOT New Service 3 Months Warranty and FREE tax At £5,000 it seems good value to me. https://www.imperial-marques.co.uk/cars/mini/hatch/oned/226943/
  8. I have the exact same car 61 plate, 77k, 1 Previous in white - not a sniff
  9. I run a Disco 3 TDV6 with 80k, bought it from main agents 7 years ago. This had a new Turbo fitted by LR at €5k (in France) and I have just given the car it’s 10 year service, all fluids, axles, transfer box, gearbox, timing belt(s), had both EGR’s blanked mechanically and electrically + a remap - cost = (trade remember) £2,800 and I supplied most of the parts. All that’s left now is to replace the centre panel suspension switch (it is only the switch). Despite all this preventable maintenance, I dread the day someone buys it, which is why it is up at £14k or it stays with me.
  10. My average turn is about 60 days, some are 9 months, some same day but average 60. Question: when do you start and stop the counter because I think I maybe being to harsh on myself. Day 1 when hammer falls to last day when collected by customer. From hammer to delivery can be 7 days, prep 7 days then from deposit to collection can be 7 days. That can add 21 days when car was not really available.
  11. Call me weak but I owe CB - they did my FCA and held my hand throughout the process, ultimately ending up helping me move metal with £1200 nett and then rewarded me with another £435. Don’t get me wrong, when I become more valuable to them, I will start to flex my muscles but right now - I can’t complain.
  12. Thanks Simon - wish I could do every deal on finance £7,250 car = £435 incremental margin (commission).
  13. Nice David Just done my first successful finance deal this morning since obtaining FCA at the end of last year, nice bit of comms.
  14. Was there a way to keep it instead of switching to new style? Wish there was/is?
  15. A good few years back I came in to some money and whilst I was waiting for a cheque to clear, went to the main dealer having decided I wanted a Range Rover and I wanted to buy my Dad a Discovery (the one I still have now). The salesman said, "would you like a test drive" to which I replied "I would love a test drive but I am not in a position to complete a sale for a couple of weeks, so I don't want to waste your time. If you are happy to take me for a spin, then I would be delighted but please understand that I cannot make a decision now." He agrees and off we toddle. Upon completion of the test drive, he says "I shall call you tomorrow for some feedback." I said, "leave it until after lunch because I am in meetings all morning." He rang me at 9am, 9.30am, 10.00am, 10.30am and finally 11am when I finally answered and gave him the biggest hairdryer treatment anyone has ever received from me. I went back to the dealer (when cheque had cleared) and demanded a different sales person. A really nice laid back guy came out and sold me a RR Sport and (my current) Disco. I have since bought a Vogue, an XKR, an XFS, a Merc Cab - over £250k worth in 12 months. All because that guy was like me - not pushy. The original pushy guy earned no comms. Better still, I went in jeans and a T shirt to Stratstone first of all, who never bothered to call me back, despite my shopping list. I still to this day want to do the Pretty Woman sketch from Sunset Boulevard (big mistake, huge). Anyway, this is the dealership where my Mrs works and I met her at the birthday party I was invited to of the salesman who sold me all those cars - nice story.
  16. To be fair to a punter. They have probably been to some pushy main dealer at some stage (or any other retail outlet), where the sales person has been trained, sorry forced to push that person into submission by learning to overcome that objection - it is a horrible 80/90’s sales process and at least for me, a very relaxed matter a fact approach works best.
  17. I took a £100 dipper yesterday (refundable) on a Qashqai. Customer and partner are coming in at 10am today to complete finance application. The £100 to me just ensures they come back, even if it is just for the refund. Customer wanted the car off sale, so the £100 secures that overnight for her. A bit of security for both parties I guess.
  18. The only time I have complete timewasters was on a Focus ST-3 - never again. Finally sold to a nice normal guy but the others.....wow. One of the reasons I am not interested in tasty cars.
  19. Same here, cheapies I take a flyer on anything non safety related in the knowledge I will pay back monies if the worst happens and it snaps. Same applies to house renovation - the materials cost more or less the same whether you’re restoring a £30k mid terrace or a £500k 4 bed detached in the right area. I know where the smart money goes.
  20. My wife doesn’t like it Selling for a friend who doesn’t have an eBay account Changed jobs and need a diesel/petrol (delete as appropriate) Been made redundant
  21. He's hiding in the private room - he has his own permanent thread now. 4 paid and gone. Clio woman was a no show last night and I have someone desperate to see the Qashqai which hasn't arrived here yet.
  22. I have just bought one privately. C1 complete pov spec with windy windows and no central locking. 2 owners (same family) and 20k on an 09 - in red. It’ll sell on miles. Have you seen what these fetch at the block lately with low miles?
