  1. You can and I did - most profitable time in the job and it is a one off.
  2. This I love selling + VAT vans - no VAT margin eating into your profits.
  3. I know exactly what a PK Ripper is - my best mate at school (and now a MX legend) had one. I'm not into MX but anyone who is will know his name Rikki Preist
  4. I don’t care what anyone says, we all bear in mind some reference to CAP figures, especially when spotting last minute opportunities during a live auction. Given time, I base my valuation/max bid on AT’s suggested trade and compare with their suggested retail less my margin and costs.
  5. This plus often stipulated by the manufacturer themselves as terms of the franchise.
  6. I thought you were doing this full time now (since moving to the site). Last I heard you were flying, has something changed? Oh and I’d sooner go for a crew type bus than 3 in a row. Vito perhaps?
  7. From 15 April 2019, we have been issuing a new version of the vehicle registration certificate (V5C). Any new V5Cs issued from 15 April 2019 will be the new version.
  8. I always forget to ask Simon but I do know often where an original lead comes from (except the walk-ins). Not sure what class ths unit is but I did check the motor trade is permitted and was told yes (sales and/or servicing). The site is pretty industrial rather than retail but a mix of everything from offices to light industrial to fairly heavy industrial. 24 hour security through a barrier. I have a Nest camera outside the unit (and inside), it goes off every hour telling me someone is outside during the night - it is always the security guard checking my door is locked.
  9. This does annoy me but hey ho. To be fair, like most people - I used to get caught up in auction fever and often bid over my limit. Now I plan well ahead and set a maximum using a combination of retail back and various trade figures. So, I am not worried that I will get carried away, just hoping that I might steel a few UPTO my maximum bid and have them all back and prepped by Friday ready for May start. Just debating whether to go in person or bid online now.
  10. And I suppose with Online bidding, there'll be plenty of dealers itching to get back to work (cyber bidding from home), whilst pacifying the family.
  11. This - I have cars that I am sick of looking at, despite being busy - it’s fresh stuff that sells.
  12. That’s great because I need stock. In your experience, are they generally busier or quieter than the usual week day auctions? Hoping for a few bargains
  13. FB (fed from CD5 no other effort), Google via CD5’s enhanced SEO on new package and eBay (Gumtree is useless but we knew that). Total advertising cost per month = £463 including website. Half AT for double the stock. Trouble is Simon, more than half of my sales are from random walk ins - I know you will not operate like that. It’s not people driving by because I’m tucked away at the back end of the trading estate - they’re seeing my ads and just turning up. I have reduced my ad text to bullet points, haven’t done a video in weeks, photos are no longer uniform (some inside, some out etc) and sold double the cars over the past two months vs. usual amount. OCD is struggling but the money helps.
  14. And Manheim are showing a physical auction on Monday - is that right?
  15. Another dipper taken and haven't even left the house today - WTF is going on, will wake up in a minute (probably to a load of Screamers). All this post my AT divorce - hmmm. Not gloating, I share plenty of misery on here, so good to share success too.
  16. I'm taking a couple of days off unless any serious calls come in, so fill your boots today and tomorrow - I am passing you the lucky streak.
  17. Changes to the vehicle registration certificate (V5C) Introduction From 15 April 2019, we have been issuing a new version of the vehicle registration certificate (V5C). Following a review in 2016 the V5C has been redesigned. The new design improves the customer’s experience and has been simplified. Any new V5Cs issued from 15 April 2019 will be the new version. However any previous versions will still be valid. As a result of the changes, GOV.UK will be amended to include these changes. We are also reviewing any references to the V5C on our forms. 18. Thank you Simon, very kind. I do feel extremely lucky, unlikely to happen again any time soon but it makes it all worth it.
  19. I came in today to hand over a sold Fiesta at the allotted 10am appointment. Arrived at 9.45 and in those 15 minutes, sold 3 more cars - now on my record month by a fair margin (VAT and profit ) 1 x Facebook 1 x Ebay And 1 to the father of the Ebay sale at the same time. I blame Brexit
  20. I was/am a remain but I have got to the point that I just want a decision now, either way. Brexit not affecting sales here, currently on record month financially and still a week or so to go. I also heard that we have a record number of people employed or registered self employed in the UK.
  21. I pay (all + VAT in case you're not registered). Full Bumper £140 Part Bumper £60 Full wheel refurb (the best I have seen anywhere, dip, media blast, fill and powder coat) £45 a corner Full panels vary but roughly £100-£150 depending on how far they need to fade out. Oh, they also collect the vehicles and drop them back (we are on the same trading estate).
  22. And here's me struggling and moaning about the PITA that is removing old number plates screws
  23. FREE Package for me: All of my stock now has an automatic overlay of the company logo on each picture (thanks to CD5). I am not convinced that people actually receive my response to their enquiry, so the genuinely interested ones who have a bit of nouse about them, can easily locate the car/my business and have done on occassion and bought. The ones you never hear back from or don't make any effort to find you have either never seen your reply, didn't really exist or weren't really that interested. What kind of lead is "I am interested in your car." I know it is a standard thing but add some text to it, because that statement/lead is like they're just making a confession.
  24. Take a look at A1 Approved - They offer an administered own pot warranty. My nett pot (i.e. £150 put aside per car sold less any warranty claims paid out) is now just over £3,000 since starting with them about 3 months ago. A large proportion of this £3k, if I had used a 3rd party warranty insurance company, would never have been seen again and even then, I was often contributing to repairs when the company either refused to payout or reduced the payout. It gives you some distance between the customer and you whilst you ultimately can cover what ever you want. They take the hard line, computer says yes or no approach but you can (for the right customer), pay whatever you like to keep the customer happy.
