  1. Well, that's typical. Really quiet then out of the blue - one sold (pre booked) and two further walk-ins SOLD. AT doesn't kick in until August, so all CG
  2. You might be right Noa but being solely on CG isn’t providing enough traffic (except on one very cheap car) and EBay has burned their bridges with me I’m afraid. I am also starting to increase my stock value (vs. Quantity) and want more finance business to help compensate the larger ad bill. The biggest thing for me is the nonsense way CG rank listings, trying to be clever and ranking on value over price (which is far too subjective). For example, in my opinion, my 2012 Passat Bluetech Sport with 80k, 1 Owner, FVWSH inc recent belt in black fully loaded is better value than say a 2013, 4 owner with patchy/no history at a grand less. How can you rank listings on value? Cheers Nick. I am waiting until August allowing me time to get all my ducks in a row, reword ads, start videos again (CG didn’t host them, so couldn’t be bothered to do them). Being on AT at great expense needs to be fully utilised and I don’t want any wasted time, these next two weeks will push me to get things “ready for the launch” on 1st August. Onwards and upwards.
  3. Well guys, I know one or two of you will be dissapointed in me but I have just signed up to AT again from the 1st August. Car Gurus started well for me but the last couple of months have been rubbish and Ebay never came to the party to match the price other dealers are paying, so that leave AT. I will give it a few months to compare and contrast and for those interested, will post results. PS: Sorry NOA
  4. Check it has the latest updates because that sounds too good to be true.
  5. I don't have a problem with VAT, I have a problem with the margin scheme and the way it is calculated. As a dealer, we add value and the best way to do this is to buy something that needs a bit of recon BUT..... because of the margin scheme; If you buy a vehicle for £1,000 and sell for £4,000 (hypathtical I know). You will pay £500 margin. So what you may think but what about if you have spent £2,000 + VAT in prep? Yes you claim the £400 VAT back but your nett margin is still only £500.
  6. I am not sure how anyone can stay "unregistered" for VAT in this game.
  7. Try the Autel Pro - I'm not techy but it looks a great bit of kit. Think EuroCP are doing them and have various offers. Cheaper than Snap On and I believe do more? Where is Dave?
  8. Brilliant film (the first one anyway, then I got bored of his skills).
  9. You've got my number and I have the number for most of the regulars on here. That's my back up plan.
  10. Manheim are pretty good delivery wise. Normally within 48 business hours. BCA seems to take forever. On balance, I prefer BCA as an auction house but Manheim are more customer focussed IMO.
  11. I'm only on 4 sold for the month, worst month ever but I couldn't care a bit. I have some decent stock and come Thusday night, I am away for about 10 days. Bought another boat for our holiday (another one yesterday, not the one I bought a few weeks ago) and am going to be busy sorting that out this week, changing for a bigger fuel tank, mop and polish, fit the new canvass and chart plotter etc. You watch the phone ring off the hook, so I don't get a minute plus it is currently in the unit blocking all the stock in, so someone is bound to want whatever is tucked in the corner.
  12. He’s still here. The next ad will say, this vehicle has been on a thorough 3 day PDI and trial to ensure it is perfect for the new owner, which is why we have just increased the price by £500.
  13. Never much liked star wars but I always think of The Inbetweeners when anyone mentions Yoda. Will saying "Fiesty one you are" during a school excursion trying to impress a girl
  14. Reading between the lines, it sounds to me that what you’re really trying to achieve is to find a workaround in order for you to drive flash cars on SDP basis otherwise what relevance would “what if I have mates in a car” have? Back in the day, I was 18 and had a motor trade policy. Like Mark above, it was as much to do with insuring sporty cars which were otherwise out of reach at that age as it was trying to sell a few. I’m 45 now and once you’ve experienced some “real life” events, you soon realise that trying to skew the rules, finding ways to bullshit the police with “I’m on business gov” isn’t plausible and certainly not credible. You're 18, take the medicine because sooner than you think you’ll be 45, wishing you were 18 again and will be staggered that “how can I drive a flash motor on a business policy” was your biggest issue.
  15. To be an employee you need a contract but that contract can be verbal (from what I was told last week). My policy covers anybody employed by me for business use. I occassionally use casual drivers (a bit like you and your Dad), so if I verbally employ someone for an hour, a day or however long with either a verbal or written contact, they are covered. That is what I was told by Aston Lark last week at the CDX exhibition and he knows his stuff.
  16. Worse than that Nick - I have watched a Moneybarn sale many times at Walsall BCA. Every bonnet on Moneybarn cars seem to have been painted.....with a stick
  17. The quality and price of the parts I fit (have fitted) are directly proportional to the labour time. A clutch = LUK, it just isn't worth the hassle on such a lengthy job. On the flip side, a cheapy PX will receive a Lion battery because I can replace within 2 minutes and the warranty exceeds my own warranty and CRA. Why pay someone hundreds to strip a car, to fit a pattern part saving £20 knowing there is every chance you'll be doing it again?
  18. Sorry Lakeside, that goes without saying - I let the privates fill their boots with that lot. I do buy from UKCG Trade, Select and Premium though and 9/10 been very happy. PF I have bought 3 times and all 3 needed some serious wedge.
  19. IMO this is the worst section BCA offer, far worse than UKCG. I was talking to the Auctioneer one day prior to starting the sale and asked where the stuff comes from, he said all over. It is clearly a mix of overage repo stock funded cars and rough PX's (again IMO) - I think it is just a section for their funded partners, whether the car is funded or not - perhaps an incentive to use Partner Finance. As a Partner account, we will give you access to sell under this Partner Finance section instead of General? I have bought a few and they all require a shed load of recon. I avoid the section completely now.
  20. I bought my lap top home yesterday as the weather is appauling and yesterday only one person came (and bought). So glad I am sat at home, walked the dog and watching the unit and forecourt via CCTV - no one has ventured near, so right decision so far.
  21. I don't know how Tom, please explain.
