  1. That smacks of a consumer magazine or website writing that as 'advice' when looking to get a better deal. Nonsense.
  2. Welcome to the forum RJ. Thanks for joining. Sorry to hear about your troubles. I'm sure the guys will have some advice for you though.
  3. I've just spoken to the writer. He's up for letting us reproduce it in the mag as a special features. Should be fun!
  4. GG - total agreement with you. It's a load of crap. And I'm not talking about our rivals... Black Friday is just nonsense - it's another Halloween. I'm all for a deal or an incentive to get people in, it's the bandwagon thing that annoys me. I got sent a 'Black Friday' email from Morrisons that offered three bottles of wine for a tenner. That's NOT a Black Friday deal, that's a normal sodding offer. TV for £2.50 - that's a Black Friday deal. JEEEEEEEESUS. (Yes, it's one of those days....)
  5. This forum works particularly well on mobile as does our website :)
  6. Thanks and understood. We'll pretend you're The Stig of the car dealer world. No wait, that's our Big Mike. You can stay as GreenGiant...
  7. Ok, so Gavin's post on another thread about customers giving each other advice about buying from a dealer got me thinking. If you were to produce a handy information leaflet to give to customers telling them what really happens in a dealership what would it say. What advice would it give them? What would you tell them not to ask. For example: 1. Don't ask for £3,000 off the list price and expect to get it 2. Don't think we're going to get really excited when you offer us cash - that means we have to go to a bank Etc, etc. Love to hear your ideas...
  8. I was up near a Bracknell last week for a meeting and there was a big police operation on which I assumed was for tax and insurance. But white van parked over a dual carriageway and police cars and bikes on all exits stopping anyone flagged up. I was in my wife's new car which I had literally just picked up but wasn't stopped. However I certainly feared I would be. I thought it was good to see them out in force. First time I'd spotted something like this since the change.
  9. Welcome to the forum Jack. Thanks for participating.
  10. Welcome sir! Thanks for joining. I know Auto Trader have one. I use that every now and then when we're looking for our trading up cars. I'm sure there are plenty of others. I'll let the real dealers answer that question. Good luck with the launch! Let us know how it goes.
  11. Bloody annoying to say the least. Can't understand what goes through their minds!
  12. And Gavin is right our Car Dealer Club lawyers could help with this. You get free legal advice with a subscription. See www.cardealerclub.com
  13. What an absolute swear word. So sorry to hear this. Maybe our Car Dealer Andy might know what to do. He did a lot of this stuff in his former role at HPI. I'll point him to this post.
  14. Ha! Get given the cars... Brilliant. I am glad I don't have to deal with the general public. I'd end up with no business at all.
  15. I don't really understand it Umesh. Why do people do this? As the Mazda said, castration is too good for them...
  16. If you follow us on Twitter (not you GG) you may have noticed our Mazda 6 long termer was keyed by a yob at the weekend. To say I was a little annoyed is putting it mildly. Our Mazda was pretty cheesed off too. It wrote this ranty open letter on our website: http://cardealermagazine.co.uk/publish/open-letter-yob-pretty-cheesed-mazda-6-tourer/87430?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Anyway, now my mind has turned to getting it repaired. Any of you got any tips or contacts who might want to help us out? Any advice appreciated. It might help calm our Mazda down a little...
  17. Nice work. About time we did an interview in the mag...? If you want to do it let me know :)
