Help make Car Dealer even better - and be honest!
James Baggott replied to James Baggott's topic in General Dealer Chat
Agreed. That was a good thread. And we don't work for the manufacturers we work to serve you - our readers! If it upsets the manufacturers then so be it, our number one concern is making sure you enjoy the mag. Just look at our recent ban from Vauxhall over the column I wrote for proof of that... -
Well, the big day is nearly upon us: The Big Changes To The Tax System That Didn't Need Changing Day. I'm prepared - I took the tax disc out of my car at the weekend and marvelled at how much prettier it looked without the overpriced, multi-coloured piece of perforated paper in the corner of the windscreen. But I know I had it easy. You guys must really be struggling. What have you done in the end? Have you had tax refunded? Have you made a collage out of the old discs? Fed them to the office dog? I'd love to hear how you're preparing for the big switch.

Best way of keeping up to date would be to subscribe to the industry's leading motor trade magazine - and recent Best Business Publication Award Winner - Car Dealer... You can subscribe here where you also get the benefits of being a member of Car Dealer Club like free legal advice - which you could use to ask the very questions you have here about what to do when you start up. Membership is £39.99 a year and you get a copy of the mag every month and lots of other benefits too. www.CarDealerClub.com

Help make Car Dealer even better - and be honest!

Thanks for that - much appreciated. The used car message is received loud and clear and is certainly something we'll be looking at when the new editor arrives. -
Also dealers have to legally offer a warranty on the cars they sell. Do you?

Hi all Firstly just want to say it's great to see so many of you in here using the forum regularly. The team and I keep a close eye on what you're saying in here and find it invaluable when it comes to shaping what goes in the magazine each month. You may have seen - and warning, massive self promotion time - that we won Best Business Publication of the Year from Headline Auto this week. It's the second time we've won this award and I'm very proud of it indeed - especially as it's voted for by the industry. http://cardealermagazine.co.uk/publish/car-dealer-named-best-business-publication-year/84686?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter I hope you can see we put a lot of passion and effort into bringing you the best trade magazine every month but we're always striving to make it better. You may also have heard that editor Batch leaves us this week. He's off to stack shelves at Tesco, I think (a brilliant promotion) but we'll be very sad to see the Quiffed One go. However, it also means new beginnings and a perfect chance to make Car Dealer even better. With that in mind I'd love to hear your thoughts on: 1. What would you like to see more of in the magazine? 2. Is there anything we don't cover you think we should? 3. What are your favourite parts of the mag and why? 4. And what don't you like (and if you say my column I'll ignore you...) 5. Are there any features on certain areas of the business you'd like to see? All comments would be welcomed - good or bad - and I'll be monitoring this post closely and reading all the entries. This is a genuine opportunity to help shape your Car Dealer of the future and I'll be sharing it directly with Batch's replacement (more news on that soon) as soon as they're on board. Thanks in advance for your time

Because you used the words 'Award Winning Magazine Heroes' Will, for you, I'll consider it! Actually, it's a very pertinent point and one high on my personal agenda right now. We're currently dabbling with GoSquared a powerful, paid-for alternative to Google Analytics. It's a few quid a month and delivers detailed daily reports to my email account on Car Dealer traffic. However I've also recently downloaded the excellent Google Analytics app for my iPhone. If you haven't got it yet it's worth a look - it's actually better than the website. I agree sometimes it's hard to know what to look for, however, I've spotted trends of when users visit our site the most and have tasked the editorial team with ensuring fresh content is online for these busy periods. I've also seen a huge increase in mobile traffic. So much so that we're currently looking at a new mobile theme for our site that's more user friendly and drives users around the site more easily. The app also has a brilliant live view so you can tweet a link to a story and watch users drop in to the site and see where they go after reading it. I've been trialling lots of different techniques with the help of the stats and knowledge is power as they say. I'll contact Scott at Google and see what he thinks about writing a top tips guide for dealers on using the platform. I would be just as interested as you on hearing what he has to say. I'll report back when he replies.

What camera do you use for taking car shots?

GG - I love how you're a one man adversary to the world of social media. I get the feeling if you met Mark Zukerberg you'd have a few things to say to him... -
Sorry can't talk now. Working out how many hours to go until Tuesday.

Where do you get your stock from?
James Baggott replied to Direct2Dealers's topic in General Dealer Chat
No worries Chris. We love your involvement and the conversations - just no direct promotion. If you need help with that that's what Car Dealer Magazine and our website can help with. I can put you in touch with the team should you need it.- 32 replies

Woah woah woah Direct2Dealers. While I love your enthusiasm posting links to business pages is strictly against the forum rules. Subtle promotion and help advice is fine. Direct links to sign up pages is not allowed. Please play by the rules. Thanks- 32 replies

I'd love one of those. My brother had two. When I was an impressionable teen they were VERY fast. Probably not so much now but boxy cool!
