Mostly to local people? The diesel sales I mean.
-
Yes, it is really interesting. What price point are they?
-
Lawgistics always say it could go either way unfortunately. Because always that’s the case. How many miles is the car now and how many when you sold it to her?
-
Wilcox or similar do a rubber dogbrush. In the old days, my old man made me wrap sellotape around my hands (sticky side out obviously) you can use thicker tape, tape a large area and pull it off. Otherwise it’s just elbow grease and brush and hoover as you go.
-
What’s your stock ratio of petrol to diesel?
-
What are Lawgistics advising you? She doesn’t qualify for the 30 day right to reject and you fixed it and gave it back. If she didn’t contact you with further problems, then this is not your fault.
-
This (still no like button) Nothing to worry about. Sell the car and do the paperwork at the customers house once delivered and driven if worried. Take a reservation fee beforehand..again if worried Distance selling is a nonsense as expressed by Lawgistics a while back. As long as it’s not the main part of your business. As with others, I have sold plenty like this with not one issue ever. Like Mark says, don’t let the pennies hold up the pounds.

I’ve had some experience with mediation (one recently on an 150k end of life PX Land Rover.) It’s very painless/pointless mostly The mediation lady-although I'm sure is competent-is not really interested in anything else apart from trying to get an offer out of you. In your case I certainly would not cave, and would take it all the way. How many miles did she do in it? You need to ask the judge (such as he is) in your papers to allow for this deduction for use to be made. She will have to prove everything as much as you. You will no doubt have invoices for the repairs etc. My best advice is join Lawgistics and let them take some of this strain for you so you can get on with selling etc. They have been invaluable I have found. I feel you have little to worry about, but do ask them. Good luck and keep us posted.

Keen to try a "finance only" strategy for a month. Thoughts?
NOACROSS replied to Nick M.K.'s topic in General Dealer Chat
A nice idea mate(s). My only worry with my customers is the vast majority have their own money and certainly don't need finance. Also, just a point that might be worth mentioning is that some people say 'cash' when they actually mean debit card/no finance. They seem surprised when you say that you'd rather not have cash and that, in-fact, even a debit card or bank transfer payment isn't as good for the business as a finance deal. Same with 'no PX'. It's often a better deal for the business if there is a PX as can usually stand it in at a sensible price. -
Exactly the same here James (south coast too). Jan was very good as you say. Tap totally off it would appear at the moment.
-
It’s a funny old game. How many of your stock during that time were petrols Nick?
-
Been really hard work for us here on the south coast for a couple of years now. Not so bad in an Xtrail or similar

Is there any place to get some food around here?
NOACROSS replied to Nick M.K.'s topic in General Dealer Chat
Ha, yeah. VAT killed the game. It is so much tougher for people in the trade today. Just imagine trying to explain the internet to them. And computerised mileage verification! -

I was just speaking to an old (82 year old) motor trader in the pub. He often likes to hear stories of today’s goings on. I mentioned the above one the general amount and standards of nutters. Also the length of time that things are in stock for. He reminded me of the old days when you’d think a car was a ‘bottler’ if you had it more than a week. He started talking about messers. I pointed out that they are considered model customers today. It was hard to explain it all to him. The struggle buying, selling, CRA. etc. Just made him cross. -
As Mark says- decide if you're going to take a flyer. Just be prepared if the (rather) unlikely happens and you're in to an engine rebuild or such later down the line. The belts dry up and crack Ben as they're only rubber. Dave might correct me, but I've found it's just as likely to break on a very low mileage car at age, and this happened to me years ago on a Peugeot I think it was. 30.000 miles ish only.

Becca : thank you for the opportunity (as they annoyingly always say on the Apprentice) It would be like herding cats -and I for one am far too miserable and anti-social ;o) Now how do we get our like and edit buttons back? -
Cam bets are due on recommended mileage OR year Ben. As in 100k miles or 8 years/7 years, 10 years.....Whichever comes first.
-
1.6 should be a Zetec type with belt no? 100k or eight years -so due on time I thought? Also duratec is a chain- Mazda engine(?) and not in 1.6 guise -was my belief anyway Best ring Ford mates to be sure.
-
I certainly always found that with a MK1 Freelander. Propshaft always on the missing list.

WBAC / TCBG / EVANS, Why dont they buy from trade?
NOACROSS replied to TJZ's topic in General Dealer Chat
I also think it’s the perceived security of ownership, where the V5 is showing the sellers details and I.D. etc can be checked. If a trader rocks up with the green slip, then ownership could be in doubt (I know V5 isn’t proof of ownership but you can maybe see their stance.) -
