  1. Oh Dear ,You still might hear from them !
  2. Would you mind introducing yourself and telling us about your business first please.
  3. Mark is going to need old Rumpole for this one.I can hear him ‘ members of the jury to mention cam belt changes to a car dealer is highly inflamitable akin to mentioning the war to a German,it is just not done ‘.
  4. Is there not an alternative like a sale and lease back deal.Would the lady not prefer to remain living where she is rent free.So if there is going to be £100k negative at the end of the term and the property is worth a lot more, can she not sell to an investor. The investor pays £100k and she signs over the property in return for a long term tenancy agreement based on Housing Benefit current levels which presently brings in about £450 per month. So the investor gets 5% return which I doubt they can get elsewhere without taking some risk.As the property is worth more ,does that not add up for the investor and for the tenant who will be rent and council tax free.Does that make sense or not. BTW Dave good photy but that Cossie does not look straight ( if there was such a thing ) or is it an XR4.The wheels don’t look right to me.
  5. Ha Ha,sign of the times. You are in the wrong job,why not get into selling small boxes of vegetables with a recipe sheet on line and charging £40......Sorry,forget that, too many already doing it.
  6. I was told some guy on Bookface with a post office who goes under Road TaxTommy or something will tax anything for a £15 fee.( don’t do Bookface ) Good if you are buying Black Horse repos with no docs and not in the trade.
  7. Ha Ha Casper, you will be right, the daughter was expecting a new one ! Most of us would have recognised that within 2 mins of meeting them. Its all part of the learning process for a newbie ,just another set back Daz,coping with set backs is a major part of the job.
  8. Grant Shapps the DOT Minister was yesterday telling people it was safe to go back to the office. He first needs to get that message across to his own office the DVLA.
  9. The deal as stated was a non starter Daz.If you were working on a pitch you could have been peddled.Next time if you get a teenage learner and mother recommend them to get a third party inspection first and keep the car on sale.Full refund and you will have dodged a bullet.
  10. And I thought driving up and down the Uk through the night to various far flung auctions at short notice was hard ! Very interesting Marcus.
  11. Selling to the Russians, you did well.In the 90’s the story was that the Russians were big at stealing top cars in Europe taking them home, changing their ID,getting issued with new docs then flogging them in different European countries.
  12. The guy I know has been waiting for stuff from Feb.
  13. So you wouldn’t like to have a 200 grand stock loan like a lot of the guys now.The thought gives me a headache but most traders have no alternative.
  14. You could try sending an email to the DVLA Chief Exec . Julie.lennard@dvla.gov.uk I know someone who did and got a polite reply giving the email address of a colleague to sort it out.He was furloughed so gave the email for someone else who referred them to The Department of Transport.I doubt Grant Shapps will be interested.
  15. Brilliant.Jags to Holland and Yanks back. There was a big Yank pitch near us early 70’s in Newcastle and late 60’s there was a guy from Warren St came up every week to buy Jags.He dressed like Arthur Daley and smoked cigars and just ignored me. Can we have more stories from the golden age please Marcus. The millenials won’t believe them.
  16. Most law abiding, honest, educated and decent people reading that article will side with the complainant.I am sorry to say the way I read it,she could be pulling a scam. What are the chances that the complainant qualifies for a £60 per week Mobility Allowance .So instead of getting a free new Motability car and returning it after 3 years, by blaming the salesman this one could be hoping to end up owning the car after 3 years when it will be worth 5 grand.......Why do I automatically think like that,it must be the result of over 50 years in the job.
  17. Thought so,you were masquerading as a private seller. In the distant past that was known as a ‘bowler hat deal ‘.Never tried it myself because the consequences if you got found out could be ending up in a wheelchair.
  18. I didn’t think they bought from the trade.
  19. No I don’t,but I do remember 820 Rovers, they were outstanding ‘ self destructors ‘.....Now the 827 how good were they.
  20. Good profit in fixing them if you have the right staff.
  21. Pendragon online with a BCA description ? Good luck.I would only buy Pendragon stuff if I could see it,listen to it and smell it and it would still be a risk.
  22. That’s interesting because I know some of the ex police dealers who buy there and I cannot imagine them buying online.
  23. Just been reading about JLR new futuristic signature site in Sunbury on Thames.Room fo 400 cars with Bodyshop upstairs and cinema wall feature. It must be costing millions and communicating with them will probably only be by email and text. I think Nick should send all his XF punters there for a free health check.....can you imagine.
  24. Tata Motors the owners of JLR probably consider Sir Ralph as cost effective because he has been able to attract hundreds of millions in government aid.Unfortunateley they are now asking for another one billion and been turned down. His replacement will most likely also have good government connections and an even bigger pay package. It’s a bit like when Beckham at the end of his football career aged 37 signed a short contract with Paris SG,he hardly played a game but generated an extra 400,000 sales of club shirts.
