  1. Thank you Sir Alec Issigonnis !
  2. Good luck with contacting Worldpay FHP11,I found it very difficult and then discovered we had been locked into a long term contract.Luckily ours was flawed so I managed to wriggle out. 0.57% is rediculous.
  3. Additional claim for interest incurred from a BCA stocking loan,I like that. Just looked up The National Association of Motor Auctions who I had forgotten about whose chairperson now appears to be Stuart Pearson of BCA Ex Bedford and Derby and from memory and a very nice guy.Another guy on the committee is Chris Beckett of East Anglia M/A who I have never met who would submit commission bids for me long ago and is also a very nice guy.Interestingly you will see they have a Code of Practice and a Customer Charter and a Conciliation Service for dealing with disputes. All these horror stories of late appear to be in breach of regulations they have signed up to.I would say all good ammunition when claiming.
  4. AT pay per click ? I would like to read the small print in that contract.Someone I know has just leased offices to an IT company staffed by young people who specialise in setting up Pay Per Click and I think they t/o £60m.Also,there is a no fault accident claims company where we are and because they are very successfull it was reported they were now being charged over £30 per click. Maybe someone can explain as I have no idea.
  5. Ha Ha I doubt it.What about Honda,Toyota,Volvo,BMW,VW,Nissan and many more.Those F series trucks aren’t much good either !!!
  6. That’s a good one, prepare for the runaround.Which vendor section was it in as some have non runner sections.I would be taking photos of where it stands now.I would then get the BCA guy to confirm by email that it was sold as seen.Later on you could request a copy of the online description and photos from the catalogue and ask to hear the recording. They probably won’t help but you will have proof that you asked.Keep us informed and don’t give in.
  7. I agree, but when punters buy from main dealers and car supermarkets they usually take the add ons.Just look at Big Motoring World‘s trading accounts, if they didn’t charge for stuff like admin, warranties and polish, the business might not be viable.
  8. Out of interest, when we had a 25 car open pitch all the stock was washed and leathered off before 10 each day by one guy.We then had a part timer come in mid day for three hours and he would Auto Glym the stock. There was so much polish on them that the rain would just run off and it made it so much quicker to wash them off.Auto Glym was expensive and from the US ( so was Wynn’s oil additive ) but the stock looked great and it saved us from employing another full timer.
  9. 174 That is more than Nick. ! Hope you are going to repay any furlough or BBL money you have had.
  10. Which BCA,what year is it . I don’t think they can fob you off with that one.You might even be able to turn a defeat into a victory with some negotiating.
  11. Main dealer service stories are getting worse. My old pitch had a case last week where a punter had reported his Astra box had fallen out.It turned out it had and was hanging because when a new clutch had been fitted recently by a main dealer they had forgotten to tighten the bolts.About 2 years ago they had a mechanic leave for a VAG main dealer that charged £160 per hour and he told us that on Monday morning the workshop guys would get a pep talk and were given a weekly targets like 25 grand ?
  12. Just tell them you no longer want it,provisional means provisional both ways. Its a bit like when an auctioneer mistakingly bangs down the hammer on your bid then says ‘provisional’.In that case it’s not provisional and you have bought it as hammer down is a contract. What usually happens then is you tell the auctioneer that you will let him off and he owes you a favour.
  13. It was delivered so Salt should collect it.Also the customer should be instructed not to drive it as that could be dangerous given that she has reported a smell of petrol.Nip it in the Bud and refund or it could cost far more later on.
  14. The guys who struggle to buy don’t bid on enough. We would regularly target 70-80 cars in a day at various auctions but we might only buy 2 or 3.What a lot of people don’t understand is that if you have something ‘ provisionally sold’ to you it means ‘ provisionally bought ‘by you so just carry on bidding on other stuff as you can refuse the provisional one later if your bid is accepted.
  15. Not in Newcastle where the locomotive, the electric lightbulb and ram raiding were invented and I think Impreza’s followed by XR3’s were the vehicles of choice.
  16. Impreza’s ,you weren’t a ram raider were you Mark ?
  17. Was that the legendary quick knock specialist Mr Moore ?
  18. That must have been in the distant past Mr C.Never been there but unless I am imagining it,someone may have told me that the auction celebrity back then was the boxer Brian London.....Have we done auction celebrities. ?
  19. There was another auctioneer who did Newcastle and Preston and he was like Ted Bovis ,check him out.
  20. I think Franchised dealers have to respond incase it is a manufacturer mystery shopper. It does annoy me when you go into a main dealer and there are all these ‘car sales executives’ at their desks and the forecourt stock is covered in bird shit.
  21. We had one in Newcastle and when he had hooked a private bidder on a hit lister he would emphasise ‘it’s a V car ‘ and the bidder might think it was a very good car and get trotted up. There was a guy at Leeds who in response to a very low opening bid would say ‘ what do you want, blood ‘ and simarly Mr Beith of Alex Beith Auctions in Glasgow Meat Market would pause and politely say ‘Sir,I would not like to sell you a new one ‘ and the bidder would be embarrassed.
  22. Well said Captain Mainwaring. (BTW that’s a joke ) Solo operators can spend time replying to email crap but if you are employing salespeople I would prefer if they were improving presentation of the stock.
