i have noticed on my "daily exercise" where the old peoples bungalows are, the majority have not been moved / washed in at least 2 month, so yes i can see this coming, so if anyone goes out to buy them take a footpump, a jump pack and a hammer ...........

Today, I’ve found the phone has been much busier with enquiries than its been in the last week or so. But what I found was more significant, was that I had two old customers asking “Do you buy cars?” I didn’t go into detail, but both customers where needing to sell their cars for financial reasons. Just wondered if people were experiencing similar and if so what’s it going to be like when we actually re-open?

Dealers showing their true colours. They wouldn't be this salty if we were in THEIR showroom.

If BCA or Manhem refused to let Joe Public in for the moment then you would have 15/20 dealers. Ideally they could restrict it to Gold Level and above. If they had a pre approved invite system, For example if I saw an auction where there were multiple targets then I could ask for an invite. That would cut out all the browsers and suit and tie trade group buyers who have just turned up because they have to prove they are working.

I had a similar call last week, but from a van customer, he bought a Mercedes Sprinter from us, about 6 months ago, he does rubbish/ garden clearance, but has not had any business for 7 weeks.

so we got there in end ! he has a car waiting in showroom ! well, let me give you some news then as you think we have the answer ? and not your supplier ? ● Opening non-essential retail when and where it is safe to do so, and subject to those retailers being able to follow the new COVID-19 Secure guidelines. The intention is for this to happen in phases from 1 June; the Government will issue further guidance shortly on the approach that will be taken to phasing, including which businesses will be covered in each phase and the timeframes involved. please note the above underlined part ........... goodbye

Sorry I don't know a specific source of information but if you google 'used car import' along with EU and WTO etc then I am sure something will turn up. I don't know of any UK used car dealers that have an outlet in the EU and send UK cars there to sell. Most countries in the EU are LHD so mainstream UK spec used cars would not be attractive to buyers. There is a certain amount of trade between UK and Ireland (also RHD). UK used cars that do sell in Europe tends to be specialist/prestige stuff, and in small numbers. But the dealers would stay UK based and the EU customer would come to the UK for the car (or have it delivered to EU). I think Brexit will put the lid on most of that trade.
