Never mind the tinworm, 28 years and not a single rubber item underneath (bush, flexi, ball joint, track rod end, cv or steering gaitor) merited even the slightest mention. I wish the f***er was MOTing my cars!

"Hard earned gold quickly escapes those who fancifully wager it on propositions or business with which they are unfamiliar!" I can only echo the sentiments of others about risk, so a question; how long has it taken you to amass the money you have to invest in cars? How would you feel if you pissed it away? Trust me, it's much nicer to have the money stare at you longingly but safe from a bank than it is from the needy bonnet of a broken car. You have a skill few have so if you're seeking something motor related maybe you could use the knowledge you have but tailor it toward your interest and start studying electrical engineering in relation to vehicles? We all know the industry is shifting that way. Maybe start learning about hybrid cars/ batteries etc? Maybe you just like the idea of being self-employed? Couldn't you start a contracting company in your field.. get some work/ contracts... employ some people... buy some vans... grow that business - you're ahead of the game already in that you know the field. Just my thoughts but your post seems more like a cry for an escape than a considered plan. Let me tell you, quite often I loathe the idea of my mundane job. The grass ain't necessarily greener chap.

.....and all the tester could find to comment on was 4 knackered tyres. The rest of the car must be mint .

I've sold 8 cars this month upto now on Prime Finance MOTO NOVO & Close Brothers ranging from Three at £3,295 , £7995, £8295 ,Two at £ 10749 , £14995 These are cars I wouldn't of sold as soon otherwise in my opinion if I waited for a debit card customer . . Never had one bounce back either . But I don't entertain Subprime deals , my advice to them is sort your life out , get your credit history repaired and start again . If they cant get prime rates they cant afford to run the car , but that's my thinking .

Try building a relationship with a local trader who will look after you if you show willing to buy all his decent cheapies, they will bring them too you once they realise you are serious, you'll even get to drive them first before buying too, and they'll even give you a few bits on sale or return once they like you, if your running a busy car cleaning company you will not have time to go to auction, whatever you do don't buy cheapies at online auction, you'll end up a busy fool.

Thanks for the reply , well the pitch is pretty big. So can keep car wash and valeting open and probably fit close to ten up there without it affecting it much . I actually have sold a few cars up there in the past for a family member as a favour really but they were cat d’s and used to get headaches from them and that’s why I stopped, however circumstances have changed and quite frankly running a car wash and making a profit nowadays with English workers is just about impossible.

Good luck and welcome . Auction part exchanges for cheaper stuff put a fresh mot on everything and make sure its mechanically sound and also clean and tidy my advice to anyone starting in the game is if you wouldn't drive it yourself or put your family in it don't sell it

Talking about old cars fetching mad money, has anyone seen that video on Facebook of the Sierra rs cosworth going through East anglia car auctions last weekend for £80k?
