Just had one of those middle aged couples in miserable as hell never buying a car today or soon it seems but wants to discuss every detail about every car we have. Anyway get them a brew and go to sit down for a chat, as she is about to sit on the chair for whatever reason he decided he wants that chair and pulls it closer to him and sits down.... almighty comedy timing she sits on thin air smashes to the floor and chucks the tea all over her lap. Funny enough after that they didn't fancy a chat about the car and she gave him a right ear bashing and left in a huff. cheered me up a bit and had to hold in the laughter until they left.

Ha Ha ...Really.....I think Andy and James should request to view the evidence and look at the invoices for these transactions to help prove the applicants credibility.I would certainly like to hear the story,it sounds like something from the 70’s.

If someone did that without consent they would have been ejected from the premises. Cheeky twats.

@Andy Entwistle @James Baggott Help this man out. He should also have his own column in the magazine, only man to get a customer to pay him £200 to take the part exchange on a Saturday have his son fix it overnight and sell it on a Sunday for £1995

More than worthy, just be careful what you post in there. You may think it's private, but sadly said forum has what can only be described as a grass lurking around. It's private, but not as we know it captain.

Question Title ""10. How much money do you keep on you, store in your car on a day to day basis, and where do you store it?"" WHAT A QUESTION

But did you do the secret handshake?

Take the car back but deduct £0.25 per mile X 60,000 = £15,000 deduction from selling price (fair usage). Now, how much does he owe you

They charge £75 +VAT for any customer they send us that goes on to pay out (paid by Direct Debit) and they give us £325+ VAT for any customer we send them that pays out but the more we send them the more we earn per deal but that £75+VAT they charge us never changes regardless of the amount we do.

It's difficult trading from home and don't let anyone tell you otherwise, like you said you're competing with those big dealers so if you sell similar cars you're going to have to be much cheaper than them. If you are offering them too cheaply then people can think there is something wrong with them, I've had cars that I've reduced to turn stock over and you still don't open the door so put the price back up again and they sell! I would take anything Autotrader have to say with a pinch of salt, their only goal is to extract as much money from you as possible. They don't live in the real world with us, if you go by their valuations and retail prices they think we buy cars for £3,000 and sell them for £5,000 and they charge us accordingly because we're making so much money.

"I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes....." Sorry, couldn't resist it! Agree totally, its all about gut feeling me. You cant teach it and there are no rules.

Its that feeling in the fingers time again isn't it . I had Autotrader guys who think this stuff up here last week , looking at how we decide to buy and why we choose what we do , They left very confused and quite demoralised in their thoughts , they realised a computer didn't have that feeling in the fingers . We had a game where they chose 10 cars to sell and priced them using their system , and i chose 10 cars . We then researched trade prices at BCA and what would make money . The were astonished at the prices and how far out AT was , but didn't understand it changes daily too " faster than computer thinks " They then advertised 10 cars on my AT system and I advertised my choices , two days later I won hands down in the results of search patterns. We sell cars that are not available round our area but people travel to see us , we also sell cars that are popular round our area but never cheaper . Its that finger feeling that cant be taught , we all or most of us have some sort of finger feeling version don't we and its far more accurate as its time served over the years . The sale is down to us .
