HBMotors 1 Posted June 8, 2019 Hi, Has anyone has any experience with the Toyota MMT gearbox's? I have a Toyota Yaris which has a slight judder when moving off in the the first gear and again judder when coming to a stop. This does not happen in any other gears expect the 2 scenarios which i have mentioned. I suspected this to be a worn out clutch and a gearbox specialist agrees however i am not in doubt as i have noticed a slight rough idle with revs dropping ever so slightly and then picking up. Any advice will be appreciated or if you have had a similar issue with these cars kindly point me in the right direction. Cheers Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

HBMotors 1 Posted June 9, 2019 I have followed the manual reset process and now the car is not drivable, I am unable to rev the car or select any gears, its idling very poorly and shaking alot with N flashing on the dashboard. Any further advice from here on? i was just going to say do NOT do the reset unless you put a clutch set in to be honest its not a car i would recommend to retail just like say an auto aygo because they never feel right and you would be waiting for the customers call of complaint Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

After some faffing about i have managed to get it back to how it was before and the car is drivable once again . Judder is still there so i guess onto getting it booked and changing the clutch and hoping it sorts the judder issue! . I had already bought the clutch very cheap so some savings there . Tim H 16 Posted June 9, 2019 Sorry it didn't work out for you HB. We've had it done twice now, once by Toyota who didn't change the clutch, and second by myself. The Toyota mechanic gave us a print of a Toyota TB which is exactly the same procedure as the link I posted from page 3 onwards. I'll admit that using a bit of wire to jumper port connections looks more than a bit heath robinson but it did work for us and the judder disappeared. It's not a problem Tim, i should be thanking you because on the positive side at least i now know the procedure to reset the MMT's for any future issues. I have the car booked for a clutch replacement this wednesday and i am hoping this will sort the juddering issue, i shall report back once that's done. HBMotors 1 Posted June 16, 2019 Just a bit of an update on this as promised, Got the car back Friday,It was the clutch causing the judder in first and reverse gear, mechanic showed me the old clutch and it was totally shagged. I'm Out I would have thought been in the trade it was always a good idea to source your own parts as cheap as possible and have a reputable garage fit them correctly as we are all here to make money. Dave I do understand your point of view but am guessing not a lot of car dealers will use a garage that will charge a fortune and take all the profit. How do we know the op didn't get a quality brand clutch and fitted at a reasonable price which to be honest as a motor dealer I couldn't see much wrong with and am sure most would agree. It's me 611 Posted June 17, 2019 wow i didnt even realise it was the guy from bradford motor traders always look for the cheapest repair its in our blood but sometimes you have to buy quality parts and in this case im sure the internet is full of cheap crap clutches,went through a period a few years back where a spate of cars all had slippy clutches but on stripdown the plates all had plenty of meat so i re conned they were internet cheap copy purchases this car needs a quality clutch that was all i was saying,no hidden meanings here i even put a nice happy face Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
