a little help please

Recommended Posts

hi  im just asking for some advice as my mum has asked me to sell her car for her she is getting on a bit its L reg focus with 58 k miles

the question is it a some slight damage to the left wing. apart for that the body is in pretty good shape

my question is would it be worth getting the damage fixed before selling or would the price of the repair be the same as the bit extra i could sell for ?

thanks in advance for any reply ( can not get photos from phone ATM )

Fiesta possibly but definitely not a focus on an old L plate

L reg Escort possibly?

58K miles but odos on those only went to 99999, then back to 0.

If Practical Classics had an online forum, that would be a good place for this question...

i’d scrap it.

That made me spit my coffee out.

Seeing Nick had replied I was expecting some sort of....

Throw the book out the window, make your own price, fuck the competition, overprice it, this is where you'll make your money this month and then I got to I'd scrap it

Lol, that’s Nicks way of buying it off him for £75!

Are you kidding?

Scrap value on something like this is nearer to £60 in my area.

Get the damaged wing repaired but do as little as possible to maximise full profit I would test the water at £10990 then drop down to £75 after a few weeks. This is what the real nick would have said. He must be having a off day or his account has been hacked:D

Take photos of the damage, point it out on the advert, price it £500 below what you would if it were immaculate and sell it as is.

I'd be a buyer of that (if that's a genuine private sale) plus depends where abouts you are. Even better if it was a high spec Ford Escort, I mean a Fast Ford....

I would try it at that.

You will need to do tthe bodywork, decent job £250.

Make sure it’s serviced up to date £150

Full Mot £100-£200

Get it valeted properly £75

Spend £200 advertising on Autotrader before you realise it’s too much

Drop it a couple of hundred quid and someone will hopefully give you £1000
