New to trading (~6months). Am I doing it right?
Rory RSC replied to Dylan's topic in Frequently Asked Questions
I personally think the just starting out stage with minimal obligations and no overheads is the time for most profit. Take a few steps back, look at it objectively and what do you think you could do differently ? -
The hot weather brought out the loonies today for me.

Find the same Actually with more and more just turning up no prior contact whatsoever.

Hi Mat, I had nothing but high regard for close however recently I think they are a company that are not moving with the times. I recently have used motonovo and I have to say that despite an incident in the past whereby I vowed to never use them they have been nothing short of excellent. Nice online system. Very quick decisions 6-7 deals never waited longer than 10mins and some good incentives to market and benefit for yourself I would strongly urge you to go down that route. as a secondary option for any declines or oddbal stuff get set up with evolution funding who are a fantastic broker. If you would like any other help or advice pm me.

I had not really felt that this month had been all that busy. We have done 23 cars so far which I am quite impressed with. Car finance and Zuto combined deals have played a big part. Lets hope it continues but I would much prefer to be writing the finance deals myself. Danny- Basildon how's things for you mate are they picking up? I managed to get that S3 situation sorted out mechanic pulled a late one

My honest answer is no one knows. It's all open to interpretation and this new consumer right act just muddies the water further. Customers spend 5 minutes researching the act and the next minute are an expert quoting their rights and what dealers should and shouldn't do. I'm sure they are all thinking they are the first ones to bring up gettig trading standards on you. I try try and treat every customer fairly and responsibly. 95% of customers find this to be enough. You just can't please all of them all the time and I do feel the ones who feel hard done by just do not have the right expectations for buying a used car. treat people fairly, try and assist but something you just cannot win. Also I have had a dreadful day today and warranty/issues all come in waves . You get your warranty Monday's sometimes it's just the job.

Yesterday was a good day, sold 4 cars with good money in them. I'm finding buying slightly easier at the moment anyone noticed prices have softened just slightly when buying in I think I am seeing it.

Danny, i think in your tradeplates tv show you suggested that you were looking to move to stocking around 150-250 cars ( high number of some kind) within 12 months and grow into a car supermarket. Dont let your enthusiasm get knocked I thought you came across as a bit of a likeable lad on that episode. Think, shift the dead stock, try and maybe market a few special offers and get the money coming in because the bills will still need paying. Now your quiet what have you tried so far to boost sales have you done much? Are you getting response on autotrader stats etc mate ?

I have a platinum card and know nothing about this free breakfast. If that's the case I'm never buying online again

how does the M4 go thinking of buying one for myself got my eye on a couple this week ?
-
Yes they can recon while you wait or for common boxes have them on the shelf on an exchange basis. Very good and fairly cheap.

Nothing like a warranty Monday to start the day. Know a good place for gearboxes in Birmingham who are quick and cheap if you need a number let me know.

Danny there's a place down the road from me. I spoke to the guy there on Saturday as I bumped into him at the hand car wash we both use. He has not sold a car since the EU brexit stuff and sells quite high end similar stuff to you. Probably doesn't make it any easier but I don't think you are alone. I have certainly been a bit quieter than I would like here. Stay positive, new week and get selling some cars Facebook marketing offer a special offer perhaps just anything to drum up a bit of interest. Good luck.

Had some very strange folks out Today. Total nutters.

Quiet end to the month.

A4, 2 Mondeos and an expensive X5 sold today so not a bad Saturday.
-
Been to the Goodwood festival of speed today. Had a rare day off. Brilliant day there today. Unsure what the next few weeks and months will bring if any uncertainty is in the air but we have some viewings lined up over the weekend and I think we will e ok.
-
Probably a good pistonheads car I would say. Cheap enough to chuck a classified on there I think.

Today has been a brilliant day really busy and another one of those days that makes you love the job.

Definitely sparky they have done really well. we have sold a few cars to Zuto staff members and I have not heard anyone say a bad word about the company or its owners everyone is full of praise for them and in my experience that is very rare. I believe one of the owners of Zuto has a 1000bhp GTR, an aventador and a couple of other cars so a massive petrolhead. off topic again maybe Zuto/cf24/7 director/owner would be someone good for an episode of trade plates ?

I am leaving the Motor Trade. A little farewell message from me.

What a fantastic career change and best of luck to you. All the best. -
Yep and bills it's £100 plus vat. they always call up and say we owe X amount because they introduced so many deals we then go thought it and establish exactly where the customers came from. Most recent was they said we owed for 6 deals and it was only 2 we actually owed for.
-
£100 plus vat I am sure of it.

Regarding cf247 I pay less than any of you have quoted here and am set up on there system with stock feed. They deliver leads that do sell cars for me. Done a real wave of them recently and tend to be happy to do the business.
