  1. Do you know him? do you hold high regard for anyone successful in the car sales job ? What’s wrong with owning a Ferrari and being worth a few quid ? isnt the true story floating about here that some kids threw stuff at his Ferrari?
  2. Did you see this coming as I remember you buying 40 cheapies and stashing them away. Are they all long gone now?
  3. Just got to move to market, I don't think many people will lose out on stock but at worse see a shift and if you are quick to react make a small profit, break even and then as you restock to current pricing everything will level off again.
  4. I've been buying a few main dealer bits and then marking them up when they price them low on autotrader or take 9 pics and don't bother cleaning them. New stock sourcing methods.
  5. Plus no better feeling than someone going away when you won't discount 'just cos', selling to someone else at the asking price or even better with a nice px / finance ( both ) and then the original person rings back and gives you the great news that they have actually decided to go for it only to tell them it has sold.
  6. Having to work a lot harder to do the deals with some of these walk in customers.
  7. Never a truer word. local rep is now reviews, as a small business ( compared to cazoo etc) offering all the services they do but by being better than them, prepping better, making it an easier and more pleasant experience and generating the reviews off the back of that are the 2021 local reputation.
  8. I sold one to a customer for £22k a year ago. Just bought it back for £20k as he is into a company car. I suspected it would sell around the £22k mark. Its generating interest at £24k. Prices on these are mental if they have spec, if they have no options or spec not an easy sale. The volume lease ones are plentiful, its the ones that have good options that are strong money plus a lot of the VW fanboys ( Vaggots) all hate the newer MK8 which will see these prices high for a bit yet.
  9. Agree strongly with this. Questions are totally different aswell with buyers / tyre kickers. I don't think we have ever sold many to people whos first question is can I drive it for example.
  10. These last few months are on fire. Can't buy, prep and sell quick enough. How long is this going to last? Trying our best to run to appointment only. Much easier to manage and offer a decent experience Vs people just turning up unannounced. I think we have dealt a total of 2 just turn ups out of maybe 25/30 but much higher conversion with the appointed customers, particularly the ones who have left a deposit. How is everyone finding things?
  11. They love taking them for a service or check when they think you are going to be paying for it.
  12. Oil and filter change and new mot. 2 benefits - it’s a selling point. You know the car is right and it then keeps it away from going to a garage to rip it to shreds. what’s the cost on something like that £15 for parts and maybe £20 for someone to do it. no brainer. You can add what looks like a lot of value to a retail customer for not a lot of value to you.
  13. Dont lie you had a little crank over it earlier using tears a lube
  14. Probably full of people laughing at what a miserable old bastard you are more like.
  15. Mechanics you just need to throw a pack of ham into the workshop every now and again. Feed them. Different bunch entirely, build of with rage and then leave for 0.50p an hour somewhere else.
  16. Facebook is great for recruiting in this day and age. Free / negligble cost and each application is swamped.
  17. Why doesn't he take a look at your accounts and see what a good job you are doing in this day and age.... Great attempt at wit but as is the way with you quite ill informed and wide of the mark as ever.
  18. Sorry, agree I meant have a conversation with the customer. Good advice as well Tom from the ever optimistic trade vet. Go round asking dealers giving free advice to look at accounts before you take their advice on board. Can't see what would go wrong with that. I'd probably look at whos been consistent and grown and sells plenty. Irrespective of if they are making money or not thats very much their problem, as long as you take the good bits from what they do, tweak it and put your own spin and YOU MAKE MONEY then thats the main thing rather than poking your beak into what others do. Just my opinion anyway.
  19. I dont think the warranty is mean, but I think it worth a converstation with customers. 3 month 3k but covering everything bar say tyres bulbs and brake pads to me is worth more than a years worth of warrantywise wont pay out for anything not worth a wank.
  20. Youve done more than a lot of people do by just getting started. You have nice stock. Your pictures don't look to have had that much effort and could be improved by just taking a bit more time and aiming for perfect. They could be a lot better, I suspect you know that. You don't have video. Video sells cars. An honest walkround with voiceover shot from your phone and uploaded to youtube with a link will make a huge difference for you. If I had one tip for any dealer it would be do them.
  21. Good event this year with the online car dealer awards put on by the car dealer magazine team. as good as could be for an online event. managed to get a win in 51-100 not bad for a failed car washer things are looking up. well done to all the dealers who were involved, and any new dealers worth an entry next year it’s a huge help and boost to credibility.
  22. Shortage of cars, commercials, everything.
