The government are obviously in a difficult position with diesels. They must be working hard to find a way to 'spank' private motorists but not business users. I'm guessing if higher VED and impossible emission at MOT time doesn't work they'll have to apply some extra revenue on the pump prices that HGV's will be exempt from. Does anyone remember back in the day when the only diesel passenger vehicles were black cabs? Or having to queue to use a pump covered in diesel behind a line of lorries
-
When are these price rises going to be picked up by the price guides?
-
Yep that's the dream punter alright, 'loadsa' money and low expectations
-
Interesting that most of them have ended up as minicabs/Ubers etc. Maybe they thrive on hard use rather than pottering about on school runs? Although I noticed a minicab driver near me who's Prius is sitting in the road outside his house burnt out?
-
I'm curious because the early Prius's are getting on a bit now and they still have a healthy following, especially from minicab drivers?

I say Ebay. Copart is for 'dreamers' and breakers yards. I have also noticed a lot more traders selling non-runners on AT these days.. Just out of interest, did you get it from Colchester's non runner sale? I used to quite like something to play with, but I've found that these days, non runners tend to be absolute basket cases

Just out of interest, how long do Toyota reckon the batteries last in these? Can you test them?

Must have been faux fur as real fur wouldn't burn like that

Funnily enough I was behind one today in some traffic.

I think that online purchasing has ended regional differences. No more nicking small auto's off the 'carrot crunchers'
-
Probably a bit late now but a couple of Rover 75's are going through Manheim Colchester on thursday night. Could be interesting to watch

Sorry to drag this old thread up but after a recent conversation with a guy about his car, and as I understand it, the new rules state that a 'Cat N stuctural' has a note on the V5 whereas a 'Cat N non structural' does not. But, they are 'both' still recorded as salvage/writeoffs all the same, and a Cat N non stuctural is still flagged as Cat N?

Bow car auctions and Leyton car auctions

Although the tabloids weren't telling readers that buying a Princess would kill the planet? The power of the government publicity machine press! But, I understand the point you are trying to make
-
If the bad publicity starts putting buyers off it doesn't matter where you live. They won't sell South, North, East or West?
-
....and then you get the A4 envelope from the auction?
-
To be fair this thread is about how new cars buyers are moving away from diesel and its subsequent trickle down to us used car dealers. It's the punters that will decide about diesels one way or the other, but its still early days?
-
Shorter working hours, more time to spend with their families. It's not so much the bad news but how you 'dress it up' PS: I think we are a little light on stock at the mo?
-
Yes I agree. I rarely punt a diesel, but I'd be an idiot to ignore what's going on in that area now I think that they'll make a case for HGV's and trains to continue as diesel but private vehicles are going to have take the hit. I'm old enough to remember a time when there were no diesel cars, maybe we'll end up back there, who knows?

Saving on advertising and cleaning materials so 'every cloud'

Yes, but when has common sense ever had anything to do with a government policy decision? Ministers only know less than the people paid to advise them!

https://www.aol.co.uk/news/2018/02/05/new-car-sales-down-as-demand-for-diesel-vehicles-falls-amid-poli/ Mike Hawes, SMMT chief executive "The ongoing and substantial decline in new diesel car registrations is concerning, particularly since the evidence indicates consumers and businesses are not switching into alternative technologies, but keeping their older cars running. "Given fleet renewal is the fastest way to improve air quality and reduce CO2, we need government policy to encourage take-up of the latest advanced low emission diesels as, for many drivers, they remain the right choice economically and environmentally." Interesting times ahead for diesels in the 'used' market?
