Well, I know where it is but what one is it? On a 1.6 sigma engined focus it has twin cats each with its own pre and post sensor. The faulty sensor is indicated as Bank 2 sensor 1 (assuming that sensor 1 is pre cat and bank 2 is a hangover from vee engines). On checking prices all four sensors are listed individually front and rear, left and right. Am I going to have to change both or is 'bank 2' relevant on a twin cat system? Looks a bit like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-FOCUS-05-11-1-6-PETROL-EXHAUST-MANIFOLD-PRE-CATS-TWIN-MANICAT-HWDA/152974626738?fits=Car+Make%3AFord%7CModel%3AFocus%7CCars+Year%3A2005%7CPlat_Gen%3AMK+II%7CCars+Type%3A1.6+TI&hash=item239dff8fb2:g:pj8AAOSwQwZahWVn

Well said. I was going to say 'lynch mob' but I like your reply better

Is it just pure bad luck that the cars the vendors choose (for whatever reason) to surecheck, fail on serious points. I can't see how that would be an aid to selling? Better to not bother unless it passes with flying colours. The fact they they cherry pick the surecheck cars implies they are trying to exclude the problem cars?
-
Well yes, we all know that. But, the vendors must be applying some thought process into whether a car is sold on a surecheck or not? I don't think they prefer to surecheck a car with 'issues'. Basically if you are going to 'cherry pick' the cars to surecheck make sure the cherry isn't a rotten one? Sorry, I don't think you understand the point i'm making

Buyers who bring friends 'who know cars'

I've been enjoying reading this thread but I wonder if anyone on here has ever been the 'expert/mechanic' who knows cars, brought along by a friend to do an inspection? -
If I were entering cars at auction I would only Surecheck cars that I 'knew' had a fair chance of passing. Because a fail is worse than not having a check at all? Even if the vendor gets an incredible deal, or if Manheim stand the cost in an attempt to promote a vehicle, a fail is worse? I wonder if the vendor can decide if the 'failed' surecheck is mentioned or thrown in the bin?

Can you tell how long a car has been on sale?
metcars replied to metcars's topic in General Dealer Chat
Yeah, I see. Thanks -
Oh and a top tip on Shiply. If you have to pay extra for two guys, make sure the other guy actually materialises! And hasn't been "dropped off round the corner to get something?"
-
Is it possible to tell how long a car has been advertised on AT?
-
At the moment the 'local van with a man' is doing gardening and driveways! Lol
-
It's no secret that some companies use professional services to manage their online reputation. But it does sound like a rats nest in that line of work?
-
My experience of Shiply has been varied and worthy of a thread on its own. FWIW I would deliver it myself 40miles. Nobody will be as careful with it as you!

There used to be a large traveller site opposite BCA Bedford site. Not sure if it's still there?

I'm looking forward to the new opportunity for amusing 'BS' advisories

No, i bailed out of it in the end

Have a chat with the girls in the office. I usually find Colchester pretty helpful to be honest. And stuff does sometimes turn up in the post after you've sold it,
-
3dr Astra's?
-
I agree with tradevet, the Midlands is the 'sweet spot'. Between Manheim and BCA there is a huge choice.

Anyone able to watch a car go through auction?
metcars replied to rich89's topic in General Dealer Chat
Perhaps they found this thread? -
I have accounts with both BCA and Manheim, the only difference is the logo. They are both much of a muchness. What is the deal with buy it nows? Aren't they just the old shitters that didn't sell in the week?

Spring is here now. I know because my grass is growing again

Yes, personally I think there are way too many sharks in that tank. But each to their own. Thanks

Anyone have an account? I'm not a member and had a skim through the website. I just want to know if it's possible to identify the source of a vehicle on their site, whether a car is entered 'insurance direct' or via a third part/private owner? Caveat Yes, I know about Copart! "There be dragons!" etc A friend in need is a pain.....
