when they ask you 'why do you say that' what is your response? because I'd like to do similar. maybe the answer is 'because this is a used car, a new one is unlikely to have minute chip on the bonnet' etc.?
-
Really? We operate with motonovo and close bros and are at home. in the interim try Will @ Meridian Finance and tell him I sent you, he’s a top guy and will look after you

What repairs/servicing won't you tackle?
justlooking replied to Mikey360's topic in General Dealer Chat
My man would do that for £150 I’m sure, most fiesta belts he charges me £120. could be worth asking the question of a few others in your area or posting the job on ‘who can fix my car’. In response to your question, I’m the same as EPV! I’ll clean he fixes. -
B&W? Is that a Jag by chance? Rory, think it’s a case of wrapping over the chrome in normal black or Matt/Gloss, although lying here waiting to be corrected, check out wrap and tint worx on fb or insta, one man band in Dorset but doing lots of dechroming for brand new cars coming from New Forest Bentley and Merc main dealers.

remember seeing one go through BCA last week with 70-90k on it and I valued the retail at about £14-16k, vague I know, but reckon it's gonna be about that. good luck with the underwrite and hope you get a deal done!

There’s more to the CRA than just “as described” which is what’s been mentioned in terms of being free from fault at point of purchase, having a pdi and mot. I would think that In this case, another part of CRA - satisfactory quality, is the major factor, I’d be asking myself, is it reasonable to expect a vehicle of this age, price and mileage to last longer than 3 months? This is where you’d have to second guess what a judge would say if it god forbid went that far, But over an above this, what do you thinks fair, As it’s your business’s and reputation you need to think about when forming a reply/resolution to your customer. Just my 2p and happy to be put straight on any or all of my comments, I’m still getting to grips with CRA ins and outs, be great to hear what others think or would do.

ditto, I don't see it as a big deal, just be upfront and list faults and the status as a 'private sale' with no warranty and there's owt much else you can do. Agree you shouldn't have told him you're a trader, but you have explicitly stated it's a private sale and he's signed a receipt that states exactly that, then there's the fact that it's a £500 smoker with 175k on the clock, he's a chancer who's trying it on, absolute tw**. That said, for £500 less 25/40p per mile usage deducted, just give him his £200 refund and tell him to do one, then sell again on eBay or just scrap the bloody thing. Done.

what the jeepers?! where are you in the country! sounds great

Might be the same one that was on dealer auction a few months back in broadbridge heath, West sussex
-
Yeah I’ve got one of those, easy to stick it in your bag, used it to jump a few cars in the auction car park when collecting, saves walking a few miles to hail down the nearest staff member and has never let me down on the bigger stuff. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F183175181470

Buyers remorse, pathetic

Not so sure that’s the case, you answered your own question in the initial post. Get in in touch with the ones mentioned and get set up with them and see how you go

Anyone able to watch a car go through auction?
justlooking replied to rich89's topic in General Dealer Chat
Has anyone made a BCA Claim since 12th March when the team “moved location” as I’ve been fobbed off with that line ever since I picked up a Yaris from PW that looks like it’s been painted by my 3 year old neice -
Yeah I just make sure I’ve got a free road tax car in stock, V40 Diesel, iQ, something along those lines are fine, failing that, I’ll follow the line of BHM and explain the vehicle is used as part of ‘testing’ following a major repair, as I’m sure “testing” is one of the allowed uses of the trade plates. Well Mr officer, if my next customer is your daughter, you’d want me to test my piece of stock out thoroughly in addition to an MOT and PDI wouldn’t you?
-
Stu, We pay £350 per month for lit/powered, barn storage, we can comfortably get 6 in, but can cram 8 at a push if we really wanted too.
-
Yep, already reduced my spots from 14 to 8 and removed the finance charge they added for april. will just have to start “cycling” my adverts regularly to get all Cars seen throughout the week.
-
I guess it just adds to any “evidence” when customer kicks off or rejects a vehicle later down the line. At least you can show a clear PDI or the fault in addition to your advertising, a signed acceptance AND a discount. hopefully you’d never be such scenario but every little helps

Anything to try and knock some money off, I tell them I sell honest working cars, I don’t restore them. I had to call out a customer earlier today, acting in the same way, they told me there is a whine from the gearbox (he’d only fired it from cold and heard supposed noise) so I asked him if that would stop him from buying it, and he said no it wouldn’t, followed by, will I discount the car accordingly? these chancers most of the time will pull your car to bits just to use it as a bargaining tool. i used to fold but I know my cars are spot on so happy to wave them along if needs be
-
and they'll be pulling their stock direct from their 'valuation tool' website: http://www.evanshalshaw.com/sell-your-car/valuation/

and absolutely right Arfur! You've done nothing but the right thing in explaining it's faults, being a gent and picking him up, and doing the right thing in standing your ground. I'm interested to hear how this played out, walked off, called the police, and I guess nothing else? case closed never heard from him again? Fair play! -

We are very rural and trade from our home premises, they couldn’t collect as they were snowed in on their access road, hence wanting our 4x4 delivered. Otherwise we would ask for a deposit prior to delivery of which a portion is non refundable due to travel costs. We describe all faults imperfections and offer detailed 10min YouTube videos for transparency. Never been rejected until this weekend, didn’t bother with pre payment as she was 20 min away. I like the “buyers are liars” term and will continue to remind myself of this. -
