  1. chris you have pm and thanks for the update
  2. that envelope is crazy, how could they even let it out the building. i lost a sale today thanks to the dvla, he comes back tommorow for his deposit back, i cant tax his car, i could have taxed his car if the local dvla office was still open, post office cant do it, phoned dvla, previous owner hasnt put it into trade, still registered in his/her name, sorry sir wait 4 to 6 weeks, in other words we dont care
  3. vehicle excise duty to rise from 1 april, any band from d upwards to rise by at least 5 pounds. exemption from road tax to become a 40 year rolling period [ used to be cars built before 1st jan 1973] so if youve got a reliant, allegro or mgbv its value could rise
  4. FOR SALE 4,990 TAX DISC HOLDERS LICK AND THEY STICK future collectors item any reasonable offers
  5. important update most questioned is whether the vehicle you jump into that wont be displaying a disc is it still taxed ? change of registered keeper ? then no, its not taxed and you risk the penalties. this new scheme is going to cost 8 million to set up and will deliver annual net effiencey savings of 2 million by year three in simple terms the road tax will not be transferable between keepers as is today. because you cant see the road tax in the window the new owner wouldnt know [ because he probably hasnt got internet ] if the old owner had " weighed in " the rent. so, every car, van, wagon, or bike has to be retaxed by the new owner from date of purchase. i suggest that car dealer magazine looks into this very important change and gives all the details to you that i cant hope to cover in just this short note but yes, as per my first post the day of " includes road tax " is going www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/264624/3._Vehicle_excise_duty_-_administrative_changes.pdf copy post the above google
  6. a reply i found on " pistonheads" quote = This is/was my fathers car. I agree with all your comments but please read on as to why the car was left. He could see the kerb all the way under the bridge so presumed the water level was low. Half way through the puddle the car stalled, water up the exhaust without high revs, etc. Dad opened the door only for the water to poor in! He contacted his insurance company immediately who said there is no way they can move or touch the car due to the water being contaminated! They would wait until the water level reduced due to health and safety. Well it has not stopped has it! We presumed it would be a write off due to the water getting into the electrics etc but waited to hear any news. Unfortunately the area of Lynne/ Chertesy is renowned for pikies/travellers which thanks to not paying any taxes have bought houses in the area. Word would have spread pretty quickly and Dad went each day to check on the car. He was alerted that the tracker had gone off but then the signal vanished. He went check after that again only for the car to have gone! It looks like the car was moved into the inlet where it could not be seen. It was then stripped to how you see the pictures now. It is disgraceful but that's life! http://www.petrolheads.co.uk/xforums/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=1376179&mid=0&i=100&nmt=Audi+RS5+stripped+at+roadside%3F&mid=0 the reg still shows as taxed and on the road according to dvla so it seems the insurance company are dragging there feet if they are actually going to pay out having not informed dvla that its catb ?
  7. i would not rely on the history turning up, even if it does exsist whats in it for arnold clark to pull out stops to get it to you asap ? sorry.
  8. them roadside pitches are dropping like flys round here dont know about near you, one minute its all flags and this weeks special, next week its a car wash for £4 ! not even chance for another trader to take note and enquire on the rent before the lads are in with there chamois, cant quite work out how theyre making it pay with so many of them about and the low prices and lack of custom, i have my suspicions but thats one for the law to investigate, with the internet is passing trade dead then ? have we seen the last of the bunting flags and portacabin ? internet and sat nav seems to be a great boon to the buyer on the lookout from home for his next purchase, and visit a warehouse type set up on a small industrial estate, its certainly happening quick in west yorkshire, very sad i think ?
  9. Saw a minter on the a630 out of doncaster outside a house today, the a630 is doncasters car sales "golden mile" minis climbing buildings, fleet directs ? and runabouts from 699 apparently ? what a strange thing that x90 was
  10. the salvage yards are now running out of room down south and moving vehicles up north, you cant just put salvage in any yard, enviromental reasons
  11. a look through the world wide webby thing shows no details held at dvla but ive spotted someone was searching for this car back in 2007, reg bur152, in "oldclassiccar" same person perhaps? good luck
  12. think we all? know that a certain manufacturer found it cheaper to hide a known defect and pay out compensation rather than recall cars [families that died in fireballs due to exploding petrol tanks when rear ended ] we are talking billions of dollars. But then i hear some dealers are taking advantage of recalls and noticing other faults while its in for its " free of charge " recall, tyres discs wipers, springs to mind, so it could be viewed from any angle if you understand me.
  13. i must mention that i got excellent service at my vauxhall [ parts] dealership lately, in fact parts dept have always been helpfull, through conversation with one of the workers at parts he told me his staff have been cut 50% in the last few years, and i noticed through there office window the wallboard that someone had wrote on " today, beat all quotes " !!! which i wasnt supposed to see ! so they still work hard
  14. Buyers be very carefull out there ! theres plenty of self insurance, third party only etc cars out there flood damaged, and abi catagories are just meaningless nowadays, been told its only gone up to sills and hence cat d is meaningless, insurance companys just want as much back as possible, hell i am expecting that flooded/stripped audi mentioned on here popping up somewhere catc just keep your eye out anyway !
