You could potentially do servicing yourself. And if you learn how to do brakes. You could even change the odd link bar here and there. These are common sense tasks ie the way they come out is the the way they go back in lol It appears you're a jack of all trades with some comments? What else do you do?

Accident values and BCA site luck
ExCouncilJobsworth replied to ExCouncilJobsworth's topic in General Dealer Chat
I don't think it would have haf anything to do with it being a trade policy. In the same situation a billy could be test driving the same X5 with his wife and 3 kids. All suffered whiplash. They would get whiplash claim and the dealer would get his car value. The issue your mate probably had the dodgy claims people probably put in for hundreds of pounds worth storage per day for donkey weeks. Then they would have claimed whiplash for people that weren't in the car (the third party and other evidence probably proved the lies). Then mr agent would have claimed extortionate claim handling fees They're the ones that messed up insurance cost for the rest of us! -
Accident values and BCA site luck

Did you not go directly to third party's insurance? I think it's better to do that. You get treated with more royalty well if third party admit liability. I find it much better that way rather than jump through the hoops of your own insurance company and repeat it twenty times over because it's passed from jobsworth to jobsworth in different teams -

Accident values and BCA site luck

Sorry i should have elaborated better. It was a clean car from BCA Preston and a month or so after i had it on sale with little interest i was driving and a milf drove into me... So even if it's at third party fault they would give you trade value? Can you not do a loss of income? Ie the retail value? -
Going to try to cover 2 topics in one thread... I have ever bought 2 cars from BCA Preston and have struggled to sell both. One didn't sell for a month and i was driving and a milf went into it writing it off! But what accident value can you expect from the insurers? Would it be trade in value or retail or private sale value? BCA Walsall seems to be my second bad luck site. Bedford, Newcastle, Leeds and Nottm cars always sell quick. Anyone else experience this?

Wonder what will happen if you topped up a quarter tank with water. Will diluted diesel work? After all water is harmless -

Bought a saab recently. Thought it was diesel was trying to shove the diesel nozzle in the cap... Wouldn't fit in.. Was thinking something wrong with the cap Checked the rpm and then the paperwork it said petrol! Now i ask myself before filling up... Is this petrol or diesel -
We should get BBC panorama or whatever other rip off programmes are on telly involved. As retailers elsewhere give discount for online sales. We're taking a bigger risk with online purchases we don't get to inspect. When you challenge the jobsworth behind the counter (especially about the fees) they say "the rules are set by the bosses Im only doing my job" Well if enough of you moaned that you get challenged by customers managers will sort it.
-
If anyone has purchased vans... You'd know the fees are even more for the same bracket! Why? Most vans come without service... The only plus side is most vans come with additional pics showing damage Plus the rip off online fee...if anything people should be charged attending the auction. Not using the live online service! In the future you could have an online only auction... And you wouldn't need to pay an auctioneer a salary.

Dealer working from home vs Neighbour (problem)
ExCouncilJobsworth replied to premi-motor's topic in General Dealer Chat
You have more than enough to make a formal complaint. State you feel victimised. State that there is a conflict of interest of the cllr he is not ward cllr. (Often what can happen is he could tell the ward cllr to be a dick too and either step away or not step in). Also state "elected members have dedicated pages just like MPs do and this allows those in public office to have a public profile and a private one for friends and family in this case Cllr Tosser is in breach of Code xx" Also copy in the council leader (unless this cllr is the leader lol). In my days our council leader used to back us up from his cllrs who used to think they're in India and own you as they're elected members Don't be scared matey when they say "am cllr noob" Remember they're only cllrs. They can be kicked out for misconduct and many have done so...a simple google search and you'll be surprised. Happens annually. -
It annoyed me at first when they wouldn't have fees on display except the public fees ... It would be better business practice if they had fees up so buyers had an incentive to purchase more cars if they could see fee difference from card to card. Sly and cunning

Dealer working from home vs Neighbour (problem)
ExCouncilJobsworth replied to premi-motor's topic in General Dealer Chat
Check if the local councillor is your WARD cllr... IF he isn't that means he is the complainants pal. I used to get a lot of this crap at the council...the complainant or complained party used to go to another cllr and not their ward cllr. Simply because they were pals. There is a dedicated employed person at the council that overlooks the code of conduct and practice of cllrs... You can complain about the cllr for malpractice or abuse in a public office. Biggest corrupt individuals are cllrs... Accepting gifts to approve planning applications for big firms! A Westminster cllr finally admitted to receiving a gift a week for donkey years. It was in the news. -
Removing speed limiter
ExCouncilJobsworth replied to ExCouncilJobsworth's topic in General Dealer Chat
Yes grrr I have seen it touch 80 once a while but that could be going downhill plus wind force -
Got a Ford Transit Connect ex royal mail by the looks of it. It is the 1.8d has slow acceleration for engine size and speed is limited to 70mph. I believe it has a limiter It's not in limp mode nor there's any fault codes coming up. How can i have the limiter removed? Cheers

Plus everyone's opinions differs. Perhaps there is a noise which is something small and cheap to repair but mr buyer thinks its something completely expensive...
-
So you could take that opinion...bid yourself and tell matey to do one as presumably its just a gentlemans agreement in place...
-
So they won't use their own auction account? I was thinking they'd use their own account. But who would pay for the car? Does the dealer pay directly or does he pay the buyer after the buy has paid auction?

Cazana - "Top 20 Used Cars in 2018"
ExCouncilJobsworth replied to Pete CWC's topic in General Dealer Chat
You're a funny lad It's all propaganda... Here goes i will get into my jobsworth thinking mode... Major platforms like AT have their sponsored junk at the top of the page so people will click on them. Clicking doesn't prove purchasing. "Oh let's have a look at that darling it's on the top of the page. Ok its shit" Now the sponsored adds could push a car heavily on platforms and then because it has been clicked on millions of times they could claim it's the most purchased or desired car.... If that makes sense? -
Any experience with these Chinese / Ebay HPFP's?
ExCouncilJobsworth replied to Ocsltd's topic in General Dealer Chat
Never ever consider anything cheap Chinese to be useless! If you look at any product at Its rrp then look at it again on sale you'll think how cheap does the seller get it for. Prime example here is Euros with their discount codes. Recently i bought a pack of G9 bulbs from screwfix for 99p on promotion. Rrp is 5.99 usually! Ended up getting a tenners worth. 4 bulbs for 99p..how much do they make? And how much more do they make when at rrp of 5.99... ALSO most things are made in China lol so are they all copies? Its just hearsay guys...we're set up to fail in the West...."cheap Chinese" mobiles have much bigger batteries... Whereas our lovely iphones and Samsung's need charging everyday or more ruining the battery.....before you know it your battery needs replacing which costs more than the phone.. Always stick to the cheapest option -
Taxing car for own use
ExCouncilJobsworth replied to Beautiful South Martin's topic in General Dealer Chat
But if you use the green slip to tax it for trade abuse doesnt that render the green slip useless? So when your billy tries to tax it when he buys it will it let him tax it or not? I thought the green slip could only be used once? -
Taxing car for own use
ExCouncilJobsworth replied to Beautiful South Martin's topic in General Dealer Chat
Lol... So true. Its my own selling point. Sold a lovely Jag with 6 owners at 11years old. The billy was impressed of the condition and was surprised at 6 owners... They could have all been in the same family or they could have been those that garage the vehicle and polish it every Sunday. It had only done 90k miles. It's quality not quantity...
