  1. I have a trader pal who runs a new RR Autobiography with a lump of deposit and about 1500 quid a month, seems like a huge waste of poke to me especially when it spends a load of time in the garage being repaired and he ain't that flush. I have just bought a 9 year old S class with full dealer history to smoke, a big luxury but one must treat oneself every now and then
  2. When it goes wrong....it goes wrong, rough day by anyones standards. Hope you get it sorted.
  3. We should all show this to customers who "can buy one cheaper elsewhere"...…… crack on!!
  4. I use a George, get a wet kit only one if you use a separate dry hoover as it is cheaper. They last for years!
  5. The more cars you have for sale the more you will sell, all things being equal. December does quieten off(As has November for me)but January is usually a busy month. Happy Christmas
  6. I think there are apps available to do this sort of thing, don't ask me how or which one though I am also not sure about them, I think people want to see the car as it actually is.
  7. I always tell the customer they are welcome to have an inspection,at their cost, as it is their right. I also go on to explain that in the £150 ish inspection the inspector has no way of inspecting the car thoroughly underneath as they don't have access to a ramp/pit, this does tend to throw them a bit and for that kind of money I would certainly want a thorough inspection. I also go on to explain(AGAIN)that the car is a USED VEHICLE ie NOT NEW Top and bottom if they trust you and the product they won't want to go and pay all that money for an inspection, some people are genuinely concerned and we need to understand that. I find that most people who come to me have read my reviews and seen the car in the pics and as long as the car doesn't shit itself on the test drive they buy it. Had a handful done over the years and all have bought. on one occasion I did have to get the customer to call the inspector to explain why the "n/s rear door wouldn't open", it was a 3 door car
  8. It's not great when you are not selling and others are but just get the cars right and the punters will come and buy. Keep the faith!
  9. Welcome aboard and good luck to you both.
  10. Their Advanced tools are very very good value and are good quality.
  11. Red to red, black to black and blue to bits!!
  12. He who dares Rodders…….
  13. Lovely miles, if it's a nice car it should sell fairly sharpish.
  14. I was talking to an old trader friend who, a number of years ago, I did a bit of business with. He reminded me of the time he bought a car off me, only to find some photographs of a lady in a certain state of undress. He returned them to me and I was in a bit of a quandry what to do with them(They were not of his wife as I thought they would be). I did think about sending them in to readers wives but in the end destroyed them and thought if he ever comes back for them I will just plead not guilty! Anyone else had some interesting finds they care to share?
  15. Gets my vote too, starts pretty much everything up though they are quite heavy. I had a snap on one but apparently the later versions are not as good and pushing £500 are expensive.
  16. I do earn from the experience...… I SELL THEM CARS! If I tried charging for test drives I am sure it would cost me more in sales than I would ever make on the few willing to pay.
  17. Put yourself in the punters shoes, how would you feel if it happened to you. Some great advice about getting the car back, make sure the customer is aware of your returns policy.
  18. I honestly don't mind test driving customers but do so after pre qualifying them.If I have an 18 year old looking at something tasty probably won't get behind the wheel. I always try and look at what I can gain, give them a positive experience
  19. If you want to be in the trade for a long while you should always do the right thing even if it costs you a few quid. Don't be a doormat but if people have had the car a few days get it back and sort it out,,,,and get good reviews rolling in.
  20. If he had revved my car to redline he would have been ejected from the car. If they ask me can their friend look at it I always ask how qualified they are (I use qualified to people only to work on my cars)which garage they work at etc etc. If they want to bring a blagger they will cost you the sale anyhow through their little knowledge is dangerous(I once had one come and say a water pump was noisy whilst pointing at an alternator ffs)
