Are you ever HAPPY with your sales figures?
stockedup! replied to Nick M.K.'s topic in General Dealer Chat
I honestly think it is in our nature to want to do more, you need the drive in order to keep at it day in day out. I honestly don't beat myself up anymore providing I have done everything in my power to succeed. I am older now(Almost 50) but I still love a deal but one has to enjoy life also, there are no pockets in shrouds!! -
We all feel like that when they fly out the door, the first deal is the best deal though....well done!

I find that too many traders concentrate on the age alone and not what the actual car is like. I ask brewsters for something that is in excellent nick and always draw of someone. I had an old Omega diesel estate not that long ago but it was an absolute pip of a car(65k, one owner from new etc etc), Put it on at £2695 and had 3 people on it, felt like I give it away LOL. A couple of lads had looked at it when it was in the dealership but were bidding from £100 to £400 at it!! I know we all rate stuff at different money but I honestly think you just have to look at the car, forget the plate on it, and work from there.

He will sleep at night because he will have months were he does very well indeed. I think there will be plenty of people who will be running with this and more nowadays, good main road sites have always been expensive when all exes are taken into consideration.

Yes, many garages have more than one set.
-
Mine is due up soon Nick, how much stock does it cover for if you don't mind me asking.
-
Not as shocked as he would be if he does ever suffer an "incident" involving a client, for what it costs it isn't even worth considering not having.
-
I am going to have a go of one on Monday, I will give you the verdict then Arfur.

Thank you BHM. Yes this is exactly what I thought may be the case. At least with Autotrader people can go and see they are dealing with a proper trader with reviews to back it up. This has made a massive difference to my business this year.

In my experience I wouldn't do it. I managed to get a free 1 month trial of their top package(not their usual free one) with 35 cars on their site and sold ONE car from it. They were incredibly evasive about price and quite unpleasant to deal with. When the month ended they came and said they had a special deal for me at £495 per month for a six month contract. I just laughed, all he could say was that I hadn't lost money even if I sold one car as this would pay for their adverts????????? Same month I did over 20 from Autotrader though it does cost over £400 a week.

Sounds like the same deal I am on, yes pre gumtree. They are currently offering a deal for 35 cars on both gumtree and ebay for 350 plus VAT, is anybody selling cars that are over 4k on Gumtree? I am told it is okay for selling cheapies but not dearer cars?

Accepting/providing finance pros and cons
stockedup! replied to tradegirl's topic in General Dealer Chat
There is no VAT on commission or due from it I believe. -

Just be sensible what you choose to finance, better to do it than not IMO, I don't do a lot but what I do makes a bit more money. I count it as a bonus. -
Sorry, no he isn't my father, I was merely stating that the father was called Mike aswell as one of the lads. Just sold a manual C Class the other day, 10 plate with low miles, a proper northen car

I don't think they ever had anything to do with bikes but big in the banger job in the 70's and 80's. Went into better stuff as time progressed.
-
Part of the Comerford dynasty, Mike(father) and the 4 lads Alan, Michael, Stephen and David. Started in Stockton(Would do 100 plus bangers some WEEKS from that site) and when the lads got older they had places in Darlington,Hartlepool and the Boro(Grangetown). All before the days of CRA. Where are you from Trade Vet? Must be reasonably local.
-
Had quite a few milers but one that springs to mind is the guy that would do 60 to 80k a year in a Mitsubishi Evolution V1, he was a proper petrol head. I was always amazed how he kept his licence!
-
As a young lad I loved cars but now I mainly just like the profit, though you do get the odd one that you think "I'll keep this for a while"....then a punter comes and KERCHING.... dealt!

They are a cracking car mate, I love them. A8 also are great value, I always find that I can smoke them for a while and there is always someone(Rig worker or long distance wagon driver)who wants a big lump of flash for not crazy money to drive when they are at home. Correct in saying they aren't great off road though, mind you can always raise the suspension

I have a hand held steamer https://www.karcheroutlet.co.uk/products/Product.asp?ID=5424&?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=comparsionshopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjsX9_a3d3gIVxrTtCh2j6AxDEAQYBCABEgK0UfD_BwE I put chemical on first then use the above and you don't have to soak the car inside then get the George on it. I also succumbed and bought a MAC Drop Revolution, places were wanting a grand plus for a refurb machine but these aren't much more and I know a few businesses who have them and were very impressed, I honestly don't know how I have done without one all these years. www.macinternational.co.uk/media/MAC_Brochure_2016.pdf it is on page 10, might be worth a look at for you.

Yes David they are similar.
