/\ /\ /\ LOL, absolutely correct LIKE I'm just basing my opinion of "most garages and mechanics" on what I have seen over the many moons Could write a book on it ................. Here's a couple more from not too long ago ................ A guy who is now a good customer, very tidy SL55 Kompressor Merc, all the V8 and V12 SL's have ABC.................. He had a leak on N/S/R Suspension Steel Pipe, which is a Subframe Out job ................................ Local cunt fixed it with a brass 15mm compression plumbing fitting from Jewsons, and charged the guy for a new MB Pipe and umpteen hours There is 365 Bar pressure in these Suspensions, 5 Bar max in your house mains water pipes !! 1 hour later guy hits a pothole on his way home, BANG, Suspension drops quicker than a whores drawers, car in ditch !! Could have been a lot worse, but I ended up sorting out the Car for the guy. Local cunt is still trading !! I see this and similar shit on a daily basis, as well as all the it's had this that the other, thousand pound bills, and then I find a £12 relay dead or similar which was obviously the cause of the original problem !! Here's another ................ I recently bought a 13k retail Car for a grand, 5 Garages failed to fix it, last garage who advised it needed Powertrain Control Module put him on to me to buy it !! It had had tons of money spent, this that the other parts, still exactly the same, started and ran fine, but as soon as you selected Drive it cut out. There is no such thing as a Car that cannot be fixed !! It had had new Lambdas, new Air Flow Meter, New Exhaust System, Rebuilt Auto Box and Converter, and then the local "(biggest garage) expert" told the guy it needed a new ECU / PCM, which was when guy contacted me This by the way is the same guy who failed the cleaners Skoda 15 minutes, and I had it fixed !! The problem, a blown 10 amp fuse This particular fuse was tucked on it's own behind a Relay, a bit hard to see, and I did offer to look at it, but this guy had just had enough of chucking money at it, told me he would rather scrap it !! The clue was in the list of fault codes and the WD, this fuse was a reference voltage fuse for several ECU's "DO NOT REPLACE PARTS BASED ON FAULT CODES ALONE"

Country Wide I have my own fully equipped workshop and do everything except MOT and A/C regas. I have a local MOT station I use, they are great. The other local MOT stations are absolute know fuck all wankers, I would never recommend anyone to got to any of them. All the local mechanics are shit too, I've seen brake pipes replaced, they've broken all the clips, so twisted the metal pipes round each other !! They rip off plastic shields, or cut / break lumps off them to get at say a Fuel Filter, that's if they bother to change them on a Service anyway, and they couldn't diagnose a Morris Minor The main Dealers are just Parts Darts Robbers too

Andy, give Ivor Searl a ring, they have agents all over UK, the MB CDI Engine I bought in April came via Autohead Recon in Inverness Free UK Delivery :- https://www.ivorsearle.co.uk/ See also their list of stockists, Euro CP, Express Factors etc etc

In this case they should not have been, this test station is a nightmare................ I needed to be sure before sending her back, the dick also failed her on a Reverse Lamp Bulb, (which I did for her), but Reverse Lamps should only be checked on 2009 and up vehicles !! Front Fogs with no pattern, i.e. separate from headlamps and clear lenses are only advisory I'll be waiting for the phone call on Monday Oh he also failed her for Tailgate not opening, usual VW product the button handle is fucked, but tailgate opens off key button fine, again, this is not a fail item, they should only check it "Closes Securely / Properly", and they can open it with key to check that !! I hate that fucking midget cunt puppy wanker !! I've got her a Tailgate Switch handle and Foglamp off Fleabay now, but of course I probably won't see it until Thursday next week.

Right off the bat, This is not my regular MOT Guy, and not a Car I've MOT'd A young lady who does our cleaning took her Car (Fabia Diesel VRS), for MOT to a renowned arse hole MOT Station with a knob jockey Tester. Fair enough, Rear Shocks and Rear Discs / Pads Shagged, also Engine Light on, (2 Glow Plugs Codes) and a Reverse Lamp Bulb so I've done them all today for her. He also failed it on cracked clear Glass Front Fog Lamp lens, (the ones in the bottom of front bumper). She doesn't have a lot of dosh, and also needs the retest Monday so she can use the Car for her work,, so getting an EBay used one posted to me will not fit the time frame. I have used "proper" Clear Lens tape, should that pass now ? I've just put my MOT guy on ring back to see what he says, can't get him ATM Answered, My guy says Advisory only on 56 plate, there is no pattern to the lamp so lens tape is fine

Yes agree, total minefield of wankers. I will not fit anything but Ivor Searle, uk's biggest Re Manufacturer, you get's what you pay for I also had to test their Guarantee once, and that's when you find out how good any company is, and they did pay out for me to rectify a Rear Main Oil Seal leak. HTH Nearly as good as Mr Transmission Deptford then since the Arabs took over many moons ago

Enron was the exact opposite they were hiding losses by entering estimated figures. Also USA, different systems altogether. HMRC cannot disallow an amount if a business can justify it. If you take the piss and cannot justify it, then you can and probably will get slaughtered.

Exactly, thank you. My original question was how to do it, the answer was provided from other sources including my Accountant. Now I know how to do it, Question is answered. Had he been away somewhere, and / or used some other garage to replace the Battery, then I would have refunded him my original Labour charge and my marked up Battery price, and my Factor would have refunded me the returned Battery Cost. Now I really have finished

FFS .............How many times , it has nothing to do with Vehicle Sales, only to a Tradesmans Labour Hours !! It has nothing to do with Used Vehicle Warranty, Dents, Screen Cracks, Poop on Carpet, Harry Munk on Seat, etc etc !! For example a plumber might Claim back a few booked hours if he has to attend a Central Heating Boiler Failure he supplied whilst it is in Warranty.................... Example:- On a Retail Workshop Customers Car, (NOT a Vehicle he had sold) ABC Motors fitted Discs and pads 3 months ago 1.5 hours. Invoices Customer and gets paid. 3 months later they come back juddering, he gets new Discs and Pads off Factor FOC. The Factor will not pay labour. ABC Motors writes out a Sales Invoice exactly the same as the first one except the date & cross ref's it to the first one. Mark it in Red "Warranty". Put the Total £'s in red with a big red - (minus sign) in front of it. At end of month he subtracts that figure from his Sales Total !! How easy is that !! I'm outta here
-
Now the 2 hours was never the point was it !! If you'd read the whole post you'd see I was more concerned to know the correct procedure ................ Just in case I get a warranty on a 9 hour Clutch & DMF job for example !! I will not be putting the 2 hours through the books, but Accountant has since confirmed that a lot of businesses Invoice a negative amount in such circumstances, to use his words "It's like anything if you take the piss you'll eventually get grief" !! The 2 hours is the longest, and only the 3rd warranty on parts fitted over 3 years now, none of which have been put through my books as a sales minus, so I do not qualify for taking the piss !! If I get something lumpy like a Pug Expert Clutch, MB Heater Core or failed Replacement Engine etc then yeah, you can bet I will be putting it through !! I now know the answer to my OP, so case closed IMHO

LOL, we're not on that Touareg yet, it's parked up and the bits are here, on lift later today, I also know it has an Air Susp fault, which I suspect may be a Front Air Strut................. My Factor sent me a leaflet yesterday, they are now doing Arnott Reman ABC and Air Suspension components They are real good quality and usually half price of Dealer, with a lifetime warranty. And no I will not fit Chinese EBay, half that shit doesn't work outta the box and the rest is usually downright dangerous or breaks in a few miles
-
LIKE BIg I got a lot of "You'll get crucified with inspection" etc etc for my negative sales invoice query, turns out it is a perfectly acceptable procedure and lots of businesses do it, don't take the piss with it being the experts advice Since I have only had 3 fitted part warranties in 3 years and haven't claimed labour on a single one of them, I think the qualifies for not taking the piss *I think that

That's the retail from Factor, that's what billy gets charged Of course I didn't pay that We have Euro and HMP also Dingbro (don't use Dingbro, robbers). HMP are fine, can always get a good mark up on their stuff I do always use the specifically Specced Oils for these lumpy / newer Cars rather than a generic. Most of the Garages here have 2 drums, 5W30 and 10W/40 that goes in everything, me, nah, don't do that shit !! It's gonna be a good month, wil;l be having a 3-4 week Xmas this year

FFS.................................. Parts Van just dropped off the Service bitties, I looked at the invoice ............................... 11.5 litres of 0W30 Full Synthetic VW special VLL Engine Oil, .............................. which, .............................. wait for it, .............................. Retails at £15.78 inc VAT per litre = £181.47 just for the Engine Oil That's 2 monster big Servicing and Repairs Invoices this week , plus all the other jobs. Merc Engine Oil wasn't anywhere near as dear as VW Touareg mind. Touareg also has Air Suspension Fault, poss Front Strut, haven't looked at it yet.

If it's a Disabled Car I'd put it on SORN, after all you can't drive it if it's disabled BAZINGA
-
LOL it wasn't, Guy rang back a few hours later, he knows me thankfully, we had a good laugh and he still comes here for his Repairs / Servicing
-
I find "Fuck Off you unbelievably stupid cunt" works well for me !! Mind you do have to be sure it isn't a customer first !! And don't ask me how I found that out, after having a string of them calls one after the other one morning

I've been with Bollingtons ever since I moved to NW Scotland, been great over the years, but I expect my Sales / Workshop percentages are different to most on here Oh and zero crime postcode
-
Cheers Nick, she just rang them It starts at 5 hours and goes up from there, if it needs Diff Oil Changing, Gearbox Oil & Filter Changing etc etc that's extra labour !! Thanks, that's exactly what I was after, my Autodata (cracked snide) doesn't have "Service Labour" couldn't find it on the new Worth WOW either So 9 hrs total it is then as it's already been for MOT yesterday, plus now having Diff Oil Change, Trans Oil Change, Full Brake Fluid Evac and Flush / Bleed, plus 2 Roll bar Links, Tail Lamp and HVAC Sensor on top of all the other shite, oh also needs Run Flat reset too since they fitted the Tyres
