  1. We found and sold a Maserati at the start of the month but we've also done a Q5, Nissan Note, Mini Cooper, 1 series, T5 Transporter... Basically a bit of everything. Makes life interesting! And I get to drive all sorts of different cars.
  2. Well, we have. When we find the car, we send them the details via email, they look over them, pay us 10% of the car price before we've even physically seen the car. We don't advertise, we get so many recommends, all of our customers totally buy in to the process.
  3. Our business is solely car sourcing... we don't take deposits before searching. All of our customers now are pretty much recommends... stock we hold is just part exs. We've done 16 car search deals this month. It's possible to make it work, our customers totally buy in to our process and trust us. it's rare that they buy elsewhere... and often when they do... they come to us a year later saying they made a big mistake, wish they have listened to us in the first place and ask us to get them a different car. Been doing it for 15 years now.
  4. Wow, seems like they are getting desperate if they're having to trawl through private ads. Guess people are getting tired of getting kicked in the nuts when they get down to wbac and then having to wait a few days for their ££ to hit their account.

  6. http://cardealermagazine.co.uk/publish/motorway-announces-new-stock-platform-service-car-dealers/173633 Thoughts? Thinking about signing up to see what sort of stuff is available. Anyone using them already?
  7. You can ask to extend for another 30 days but there is a fee to pay. Can't remember how much it is off the top of my head.
  8. Yes, we sell loads of cars without customer even viewing them. In fact most pay a deposit before we've even physically inspected and bought the car. We have walked away from loads of cars that have not been described properly. Some customers ask for their deposit back (which we obviously return) others say hang on to it until we find them something suitable.
  9. I'm glad you are agreeing with me.
  10. Further to my previous thread and my difficulty in obtaining service history (all I want it date of service, mileage and what work was carried out) I got in touch with the ICO to find out if what I was asking was unreasonable. This was their response: Article 4 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) defines personal data as "an identifier such as name, identification number, location data, an online identifier or one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity." Ultimately, if the information you are requesting does not fall into this category, it may not fall within the scope of the GDPR. This means that the Manufacturers on this occasion could be misinterpreting the legislation. Thoughts? It seems to me that what I am asking is not unreasonable and the information I require should be given to me.
  11. So it turns out that the Full dealer Mercedes Service history advertised with the vehicle was complete shit and the car hasn't been serviced at Mercedes at all. We spoke to our local Mercedes dealer who looked up the service history for us. We walked away. Thank you, that's really useful (insert thumbs up emoji) Thank you
  12. Thanks for the reply. Good shout on your approach. I will let you know if we get any joy. We have been having issues with BMW as well. It seems it is occurring more and more. Incredibly frustrating.
  13. Is anyone else struggling to get service history and failing? We're trying to buy a Merc A Class - independent dealer says it has full Merc history. Any proof? It's all online. Call Mercedes UK, they say they can't confirm when the services were carried out. So we have to either take a punt, buy it and then hope we can get the service history or walk away. We are finding it more and more now just wondering if anyone has any tips to navigate our way round it? I don't understand why we can't be told: Service date xxxx Mileage xxxx - no names given out etc. Surely that's ok??
  14. We use Xero for everything.... stock, payroll, VAT, expenses and It's super easy to add the VAT marginal journal in every quarter. I just keep a spreadsheet separate to calculate it all and then create a journal for the total every quarter.
  15. We delivered a 5 year old Auris with 80k on the clock to a customer. They hadn't seen the car. On Fri we delivered a 6 year old Focus to a customer. They hadn't seen the car. We delivered a £40k Range to a customer. He hadn't seen the car. It may not be for everyone but our customers trust us. We have a good reputation and we don't advertise because we get so many recommends and repeat business.
  16. Depends how well you prep the cars. We source cars and deliver to our customers when they haven;t even seen it before. Only photos. Never had an issue with a customer not accepting delivery. And we've never had a car returned to us... It can work. If you do it right. We've been doing it for over 10 years now.
  17. I think it looks so much tidier with our company name on our number plates. Especially on the forecourt with all of our part ex's lined up.
  18. Back on track... Not so bad so far. 4 stock cars, 2 fleet cars, 2 car search deals Looking for 18 cars for car search customers - hopefully deal 10 of them
  19. If you have a good reputation customers will travel! Pet hate is when customers ask for a discount because they are travelling 200 miles. Well that's your choice, buy a car local to you in that case. Well yours is the cheapest in the country. Well travel the distance and buy it then. I can put the price up if you like. Oh no, no... when can we come and see it?
  20. We've had customers come over from Ireland. Also Scotland, North England, South West... We're in Brighton lol. We delivered a car to Cardiff a month or so ago.
  21. Our customers call us up and either ask for a specific car or give us a budget and an idea of what they'd like. We then go and find them a car. Give them the details, they give us a deposit. We buy the car, bring it back, hpi it etc then either the customer picks it up or we deliver to their door. We do cars from almost new to maybe 5 years old or so.
  22. May... Brokered nearly 100 deals May... Did 11 car search deals. About average for us. Done 2 car search deals so far in June. Got lots of car search customers on the board atm. So not too bad. Kind of ticking along.
  23. I've been working with my husband now for 5+ years. Haven't managed to kill each other yet even though he has now moved his desk next to me
