  1. Have you checked the PAS fluid reservoir?
  2. Different strokes for different folks but i’ve found eBay to be useless for me so far. As for the difference between eBay MP and a bog standard as; your photos are embedded in the advert. You get a “showroom” which looks more profesh you can have a link to your website on there you create one listing and it gets uploaded to gumtree as well as ebay There are various other little bits and pieces but i’ve found it performs dreadfully compared to AT. Ebay have nowhere near the hits thag Gumtree have and Gumtree is a magnet for fucktards. Great for advertising crap at crap prices but not the place for a nice bit of clean stock. In other words, eBay gets less hits than the place that you don’t want hits from. No doubt others are doing well from EBay but I can’t see me resubscribing. £398+ vat per month just isn’t returning the leads. Good luck to those that are doing well from it.
  3. +1, can’t access my tracked vehicles. Which may be a blessing in disguise.
  4. You mean a hand held diagnostic machine? I've had a garage plug their diagnostic machine in and it returned nothing so in this instance I think those little DIY jobbies wouldn't have helped! Also, cars throw a fault code if you fart in them. If it's a historical code that hasn't been cleared then in could give a false reading?
  5. I’ve taken my first foray into this sphere today and sold a fellow trader a car, I know it’s straight, i’m honest myself and expect others to be the same. That said however, i’m a realist and I know human behaviour can sometimes be deplorable. He came, saw the car, transferred the money and was happy. It should be that simple surely I’m keen to utilise this resource for stocking as well as selling but are there good guys out there or not? Any experienced good or bad are welcomed to help a newbie avoid as many mistakes as possible.
  6. Wanna swap it for a fucked Mondeo?
  7. That’s disgusting behaviour. I had a misunderstanding today with a dealer who’s buying a car from me via AT mail. Not my misunderstanding but nonetheless it involved the poor chap having a wasted journey. I’ve offered to brim the tank of the car he’s buying when he comes back, just as a gesture. I don’t have to but it’s just good business to treat people well. Why do some people go out of their way to stitch fellow dealers out? I just don’t understand it.
  8. Cheers mate. No smoke, no smells of fumes. I’ll mention your suggestions to my garage and see what they can do. Fast running out of enthusiasm for it to be honest and will give it up as a bad job and learn an expensive lesson that I should basically give people £200 for a banger and not be frightened that they may cop the ‘ump and look elsewhere.
  9. Believe me I would be happy to be shot of it. As said, I had a great margin in the car I sold him.
  10. Yes I have definitely been caught napping on this one I think. Lesson learned etc. I think i’ll give it a brush up and write a brutally honest advert and eBay it. When it arrived it looked and sounded fine. The intention was to give it a good valet, put a years ticket on it and get £1k for it and sell it to the right buyer. I’ve definitely been tucked up. I’ll put it down to paying my dues to the game
  11. Indeed. I just see a pile of metal that joe public knew was a lemon so they offed it for whatever they could get. I know they aren’t all like that but I find if I treat them all the same i’m not disappointed! Someone else can pay silly money for joe public’s lemons.
  12. Took one of these in chop reluctantly but I had a good margin in the sale so even if the chop fell off the face of the earth i’m still ahead. The previous owner had the fuel injectors replaced at a cost of £900 6 weeks before he approached me with it so I knew I wasn’t in for plain sailing. I took it into my usual garage as it was idling like a bag of shit, hunting. The garage have said it idles smoothly when it’s hot but rough as when cold. They suggest the fuel pump may need replacing but they can’t say for sure it will remedy it and I don’t want to play parts darts with it. As if only owes me £700 and will retail for £1500 I don’t mind ploughing £300 max in it to nick a few quid and get my money back but I don’t want it to turn into a hole in which I just keep pushing more money down. Anyone got any experience of something similar with this year/Make/model?
  13. Agreed. I push all my mechanical work on one garage and as a consequence I expect to be looked after. Nothing illegal of course I just don’t expect to have advisories that can be resolved with a wire brush and some hammerite.
  14. I may have been whooshed
  15. Thanks everyone, I'm putting it through a fresh MOT at the weekend so will get the garage to take a look at what sort of back box it is and whether it's worth messing around changing it over.
  16. Quite frankly because I can’t be arsed.
  17. I’ve just picked up a nice clean A3 Black Ed, and there is no doubt in my mind whatsoever it’s had a remap done. I’ve driven my fair share of hot hatches and M cars to know a 2.0 TFSI doesn’t drive this fast. It’s also had an aftermarket back box put on which sounds a bit droney at high speeds so not my thing but it will float plenty of boats. Question is, how should I advertise this “feature”? Clearly I can’t say it’s been remapped and now puts out xyz BHP as i’m sure some anal fucker will demand proof or worse trading standards will have an easy target on my back. Should I make no mention of it and tell the customer over the phone?
  18. It's the smallest things with some people..
  19. Yep, sounds like a whole load of fuck all to me.
  20. Don’t say that! I’ve just picked up a 3.2 Quattro A3! Oh and i’m Collecting a 2.0 Black Edition A3 TFSI tomorrow!
  21. He’s **** all to do with me mush
  22. But that is ENTIRELY the point. Used correctly, it works. The fees are what they are. Are AT the only way of advertising a car? Far from it. Do you have to use them? Definitely not. They are a business and entitled to charge what they like.
  23. Turn it in. If you don’t want to pay AT’s fees, don’t use them. It’s a business and not a public service.
