This off season buying only seems to work with 4x4s in the summer, but even that isn't what it used to be because large 4x4 are no longer popular and small SUVs have year round appeal from mums.

VCT engine can be a lot of trouble with the variable timing system.
I remember a vanilla 1.6 Focus that had a terrible time when cold with the symptoms mentioned above in the thread.
Turns out the weather was leaking through the seals of the washer jets directly beneath onto the leads and plugs.
Bit of silicone sealant to plug the leak and dried everything out and it was 100% -

Recently started watching Perry Barr online and prices havnt seamed that bad but never bought from there and Wolverhampton’s a bit far out for us although we have nicked a couple over the years.
Similar stomping ground + Wolves + Notts + Perry Barr
Have you ever made it to Fleet auctions in Coalville ?
Small selection, but on when the big houses are running. Never been personally -

I agree. R56 series starting to get old and the new car never really took off despite being out 4 years.

Yeah, better still repair it in the auction yard, jump the flat battery and drive it to a pre-booked MOT where it passes with no advisories

PS. You don't need to remove the radio on Fords from the past 10 yrs
There are secret menu tricks to reveal the serial code - Google for specific models

4 hours ago, NOACROSS said:We had this with an very low mileage Mercedes: took it in to the main dealer for usual German crap issues including two wiring looms, and -long story short- after the third visit for different issues, they discovered a mileage blocker wired up to the dash!
Anyway, once removed, the mileage indeed corrected itself by about six thousand miles. So annoying.
Bought the junk from Sytners auction, but you can’t blame them really can you. Just glad it happened to us, not the punter we would have sold it to, declaring a lower miles!
Obviously Hpi and Mot Check etc gave no indication.
Could have been worse/loads more miles I guess.
Can bus blocker. You can buy them for £50 . The mileage corrected itself after removal because of the mileage counted by the gearbox.
Was it a W204 C Class by any chance ?

You can say that again.
Your cars seem cheap enough, especially for the area.

I often wonder about these kinds of services
I see theres a guy who offers virgin Corsa ecus on ebay for £250+Seems like something you can learn from Youtube and you can buy a whole Corsa for a few quid, let alone a stack of ECUs from a scrap yard.
