Can use a card but can’t use internet banking? Now that’s a creature so rare that you wouldn’t be concerned about.

    Absolutely loads in my experience.

Use a card machine to close a deal all day long. If they say they will do a deposit when they get home you won’t see them again.

    Exactly

There are a lot of people who show you their card, but couldn't do a transfer, in my opinion.

    Truth

    Why use Q a dacility

Why use a card machine ? It costs you money.......  TRANSFER IS FREE !

What about those who aren't quite so au fait with technology and you're pushing for a deposit on the phone?

Worth taking a £2.00 hit on card charges or is that not a problem with your buyers?

+1. Ideal for a small turnover ‘specialist’ business.

I gave up & bought a big house with land out back. Most small pitches/units (at the sort of money is car lads want to spend - i.e. f*** all) are on a dogshit scruffy little industrial estate that your customers need Sherpa Tenzing to locate you and the burglars have all night to rape your cars undisturbed.

How many cars behind the house?

Not famous but prominent.A few months ago I was asked to sell a friends Yaris. He is a front bencher in the Lords. Its one owner 05 100k,loads of history, good driver and a few months ticket.A main dealer had valued it at £200 without bothering to look at it.I thought it would tidy up and do £800-£1000,one titled owner and all that.....Wrong again, too risky our guys traded it on and he got £300 back. How things have changed CRA and all that.

That was worth your price regardless of titled owner or not.

If I bought a car from you and the box failed within 2 months, I'd tell you to poke your accuracy and Fix my gearbox. Regardless of the prep/PDI/video, if the punters car isn't fit for purpose after 2 months how is that fair?

MSP - are you trying to say that people trading end of life vehicles for profit but offering no value to customers are missing the point ?

One of our traders was just telling me how he’s just got a unit and yard, inside space for 6 and outside space for 10-12, gated and secure for £250 a month!

Where is that ? Northumberland ?

Ok, i’m not being argumentative here i’m genuinely debating.

If, IF the pdi has been done, fault wasn’t present at the point of sale etc that still doesn’t overcome the fact that this particular fault (shagged pistons/seals/rings) if that is what the prognosis is, isn’t wear and tear. You wouldn’t see these elements of an engine as servicable when they are worn?

Exactly, no PDI would reveal this problem unless driven for a week so crazy to say wear and tear. The fault was there at point of sale. It doesn't occur that quickly

I know an ex BCA guy who set up as an auction buyer for account holders on a commission basis. He thought it would be part time, but he has been inundated because he charges less than the BCA online buyers fee !

    4

My guy (also ex BCA) covers the Midlands and charges £50 for cars upto £10k (and more over)

He often buys 50+ in a week and finishes when the auctions finish

    Not bad work

To a very small select group of people i’d say. I can’t see how people are going to pay £7k and above for a 14 year old car, regardless of miles. I might be wrong on the colour combo but that’s just my disdain for silver cars but i’m pretty sure i’m right with the retail price.

I mean a 14 year old car that is readily available of course, this is hardly a classic car or rare car we’re talking about.

It seems like they have come down a lot this year, they were making £8k last summer and had done for a while.

I'd price it at £6500 possibly more depending on spec : air scarf / larger wheels / nav

What amazes me is that for the money these 80’s and 90’s cars are making,  you can buy a good car. I loved them at the time but they have been way surpassed by much better machinery. Sorry I just don’t understand the nostalgia but if You can get them  and sell them for a profit who am I too complain.

People trying to buy into a scene / CGT free investments

I always ask where were these buyers 7-8years ago?

I remember a garage in my village ( now long gone) that had a E34 M5 3.6 in the window for almost 2 years.
