  1. Exactly this, get on with it and sell enough cars that your autotrader bill becomes irrelevant!
  2. If you have got to the stage with a customer where you are negotiating price most of the time they have decided they are going to buy the car and are just after discount for the sake of a discount. Most customers won’t walk away from a car for the sake of £200, as Rory says hold your ground if you know your car is competitively priced.
  3. Been really busy here, done 10 in the last week. That said I had a quiet February when most were busy, no rhym or reason to it.
  4. That is interesting to know that your business model is working at a slightly higher price bracket.
  5. I was away last week but did 4 the first week and 6 this week so far with a few appointments tomorrow. Nice to be busy again.
  6. Jesus if citizens advice do not even know how to interpret the law corrrectly no wonder we get these sort of punters. If I was spoken to in such a way by said customer I would be telling them to get on their bike, bonnet catch would have clearly worked if the car was serviced before sale.
  7. Anyone else been struggling to get any decent quotes from Movex recently? Use them all the time for deliveries but over the last 2-3 weeks struggling to get any reasonable quotes.
  8. As I found out in a recent inspection. They class it as a benefit in kind.
  9. I went with a friend to look at an RS5 they had for sale a couple of weeks ago. It was pride of place in their showroom and the NS had the worst paint job you have ever seen and more than 1 by the looks of it. Nsr quarter was dull and ns door had awful orange peel. If that’s the standard of car they retail no wonder they are cheap.
  10. How did everyone end up this month? After doing 18 in January I ended feb on half that number with doing nothing differently. Really has me scratching my head this at times this game.
  11. Pictures are excellent, the only thing I pick up on is that they are photographed in 2 different locations but that’s just me. Video is not great, I got sent a video guide by autotrader and it helped my own videos greatly if you want me to forward it on.
  12. Did anyone else get an email about being short listed for the auotrader retailer awards? I wasn’t sure if it was a generic email or not.
  13. Arfur I thought you had lost the plot when I watched that first video and you were talking about retailing it but that’s some transformation you have done!
  14. Always before, sold a car today, customers travelled down from Kent as the one they had seen locally the garage said they would have to wait 2-3 days to get it ready and the customers couldn’t wait!
  15. Wish I could get 1/3 I’d say that’s an excellent ratio considering how cheap money is from the banks atm. I have been trying to push social media with monthly payments instead of an overall price. No results yet but i will stick with it, our average retail value is about £10,000 so one would think that is prime for finance.
  16. I think it’s luck of the draw with judges. I have been to court twice and both times they were very reasonable as they could see we did everything in our power to solve the issue but both times the customers were unreasonable. Equally I know of those who should never of lost a particular case and have. I don’t feel you have anything more to lose going to court than settling out of it. If you can prove she drove the car to destruction the judge may kick it out.
  17. Nick I had exactly the same thought with a couple of cars that have been in stock for a while. Reduce the price and make up the margin via finance commission. Problem is as you say you will no doubt end up pissing some people off who have borrowed from the bank or have savings. The only other thing I was thinking was some sort of cash back incentive if purchased on finance.
  18. How’s everyone on the south coast getting on this month? Still painfully quiet for us after an excellent jan.
  19. I had similar earlier, chap said I need to go somewhere for a bit then I’ll be back later, never to be seen again I thought. Came back an hour later and bought the car. Turned out he had to go to the local mosque to pray, that’s a first for me.
  20. 100% Listen to all the advice above. You need to get the car returned back to yourself and get an expert to carry out an inspection to ascertain what, why and whom is at fault. It is important that you take back control of these sorts of situations. Until you have established what the fault is you are just working on hyperthicals.
  21. Sounds like timing chain to me, bad idle and camshaft position sensor fault stinks of a stretched chain. I had to do one recently on the same engine, if I remember rightly it set me back about £1000 using proper Audi bits changing guides etc. Sorry didn’t read you have already had the chain done. Did they change all the guides etc aswell? Also have they put a euros cheap chain on it?
  22. Been really quiet for us also here at the start of February after an excellent January. Just when you think you have this game figured out!
  23. I stopped working Sundays years ago. It’s the ultimate tyre kicker day. If someone really wants a car they will find time on one of the other 6 days of the week to come in.
  24. Close are running a promotion of 12-14% commission depending on the advance from 1st February until end of March!
  25. They want everything from the past 4 years apparently but everything is filed correctly so that’s no issue but all bank statements are online I won’t be printing off 4 years worth! We do everything by the book so should all be smooth sailing hopefully!
