Worst month of the year for me to date by a long shot. Not disastrous but no where near previous months. Onwards and upwards!
-
I have a lovely MX5 for sale at the moment and the questions these punters are asking. One chap asked no less than 20 questions, "yes sir matching Bridgestone tyres, full Mazda history, 2 owners from new, immaculate inside and out, etc" and then asked if I could get the car on a ramp for him and take numerous photographs of the underside to "see if the water has got it". I politely declined but said he is more than welcome to come down and crawl under it if he so wishes. Funny enough I haven't heard anything since.

No it seems the lights are to bright as the light scratches cannot be seen in the natural light only when these lights are beaming down on them. There are 10 of them so produce a huge amount of light. Excellent this is exactly the sort of thing I was after.

Morning everyone, now that the dark afternoons are upon us I am going to start doing more viewings from inside my industrial unit. The problem is that the unit has some excellent led lights that make the cars look awful when beaming down on them full power! Similar to a car in the blazing sunshine. For those with units or showrooms etc do you get this issue or does anyone have a suggestion to overcome this?

If an independent report comes back stating the head gasket has indeed failed then the customer is within their right to reject within the first 30 days as it would have clearly been developing at point of sale. As david says it is a full refund with no deductions allowed for use within the first 30 days.
-
The problem is that both reports state that the car has a major mechanical issue even though they are different. Both which are likely to have been present at point of sale as a head gasket and valve stems do not just fail overnight. If you believe there is nothing wrong with the car then either get another independent engineers report or just take the car back and resell it. Is it really worth the headache of a fight with the finance company?
-
Unfortunately both above one would classify as relatively major faults and likely to have been developing at time of sale. If the reports were done shortly after the customer took delivery of the car and not many miles covered then they have every right to reject unless you can prove otherwise.
-
For a customer to reject a car in the first 30 days it has to be for a major fault that was present at point of sale and warrants the car either unfit for purpose, not as described or unroadworthy. A car cannot be rejected for a minor fault that is easily repairable. If the customer has covered 2000 miles it is unlikely any of the above apply but it is for the customer to prove the fault was present within the first 30 days. Sounds like a good case for lawgistics if you are a member.

I used to use an iPhone which takes decent pictures but once you get the hang of how to use a DSLR camera there is no comparison.

Got 1 away Saturday, seems to be a bit more activity around but still painfully quiet. Could be one of our worst ever months at this rate!
-
Of course, fire away.
-
I feel sorry for you guys with sites with set opening hours when it is this quiet. I moved from a big roadside site to an industrial unit about a year ago and when it was quiet being sat in that showroom waiting for customers to walk on used to be soul destroying. At least I can lock up and bugger off home now!
-
Some comfort knowing that everyone is in the same boat. One always starts to question themselves when it goes quiet and consider slashing prices but if there are no buyers there are no buyers.
-
We must be close then as I am Hampshire also. I always seem to be where I need to be come the end of the month which is what matters really. I've been doing this 10 years now and still have no idea when it will be busy or quiet, there is no pattern to it at all. Feast or famine.

South east. It will pick up again always does, hopefully!
-
Still absolutely dead here but have kept buying and have cars coming out of my ears!
-
Absolutely dead here is the South east, only on 5 for the month with a target of 15. Strangley we seemed to buck the trend and had a good month in September. Lets hope for an end of month rush!

This doesn't make sense. Are you saying they have clocked it back to 78k for an MOT 2 days after having one done at a main dealer and then changed it back to 90k miles after, which is the mileage the car is currently on? Bearing in mind the MOT was only done 8 weeks ago.
-
It wouldn't have been clocked as the mileage is currently 90k not 78k. The car would not have done 12k miles in 2 months. I have no idea on this one Nick, I agree with you seems to have been a mistake somewhere down the line but how and why is a strange one.

Auction buying mistakes that you made good money from...
James01 replied to Nick M.K.'s topic in General Dealer Chat
Did an almost identical thing with an E350 coupe. Did not realise it was a petrol until it was delivered. Again very few for sale with the V6 petrol lump in and sold within 48 hours. Result. -
Well it could be worse if the starter motor or oxygen sensor need replacing you need to drop the engine!!

People who turn up late to an appointment. I don't know why people think it is acceptable to book an appointment at 10 and roll up at 11.15 or later. Just plain rude if you ask me.

A customer can reject a car in the first 30 days regardless of how they pay for it! But we know it's not that straight forward. Same goes with credit cards, the card company has a process they must follow they cannot just claw back the money without valid reason.
-
I have taken numerous credit card payments over the years and never had an issue with them. I was just unsure if I was opening myself up to a headache if the customer was not present. If I had never met the customer or they had not visited our site i would not even entertain the idea.

Even if I have a copy of the card and his driving licence to make sure it is in his name and it is a "all match" transaction on the card machine so must be registered to his address?
