  1. warranties are running out, cars not going anywhere, there's always a upside to self administered warranties
  2. Just seen a lad with a massive bag of compost walking up road, bit of a gardener meself, so he took my eye, then realised that lad lives in a house whose garden is paved over If brains were dynamite he wouldn't have enough to blow his hat off
  3. my neighbour was exactly same, lost his brother, to his death bed he never forgave, god bless him .
  4. no, and the reason they went bust will probably be "someone else's fault"
  5. no bloody internet and applying online to make a small claim
  6. yes it does, but, going back, when cars had vic checks it was campaigned that smashed up cars should have a fresh mot before returning to road [ vic checks were thought of as a safety check by many ] they still don't.
  7. The full ramifications of this, like the corona, will take a while to whittle through our heads, so far i have read that just because it has come in quick, it will be a LOT longer before it is reverted to 12 month. 3 year old cars that have seen little besides a service now get 3.5 years, so it hits these too, garages have had there bread and butter removed from them for 6 month, many who lease there mot equipment will go down the swanny, established mot stations see there business lost overnight, parts dealers sales down, tyre sales down, on and on, and what do we get ? more danger on the roads. maybe one good thing, do not bother phoning up for appointment, just turn up, on second thoughts see above
  8. W T F ! have had to read this twice three times ! even gone onto dvsa to doublecheck ! W T F ? =DfT is working with insurers and the police to make sure you are not unfairly penalised for not being able to get an MOT. look a bit deeper and the banger market over the next 12 month will have its arse dropped out ? advisories not done on top of new failure ? uneconomical to repair.................
  9. Few year ago i was dragged through the courts, yes a car, claiming car was = misdescribed, faulty since collection, onto car hire, lost wages, stress, storage, and then costs, up to £3k for the additions alone, maybe more, judge to decide. This customer had been looked after 100% up to the point they broke it, clearly not my problem, even though tried to help them in that department, so it turned sour, demanded full refund, nothing less, it would have been easier to just cave in, [ and cheaper if guilty] but, explained to them in detail, calmly, not my problem, so they decided to put me through 9 month of paper work going back and forth through the court system, hours and hours researching how the "claims" system works etc etc, As you know its 50/50 with these cases, so always a concern, so, with proper methodical defence i got a case dismissed, they appealed, and got a case dismissed again. Well, as you do, you tend to keep your eye out on these kind of people, and i learned yesterday, there "business" has gone bust AND they have missed out on the grant nasty people................what goes around..........
  10. That electric vehicle advancement is very much out of the window now, with covid, and the government target has gone out of the window with it . 2035 ?
  11. you need to be in the uk to get it Yep, pretty impressed with the speed, the government did say to local authorities, you must get this out fast, 1st of april they received the grant money. i looked at a few different council websites, and there application forms, all different !? Think it was manchester wanted copies of signed leases AND proof of public liability on 11th march, a condition not set by government as far as i am aware, councils, don't you love em ?
  12. ladas, had a few, garage opposite used to get them brand spanking new in by the car transporter, ziebart [ ! ] them, literately dripping off going back on the wagon, always looked strange new, no wheel trims ! solara , did they have the glass bottle underbonnet with a lookalike bungy strap for the coolant overflow ? or was that the stinker 1501 [ simca ]
  13. Came through today . "your payment has been processed and funding will be available to you within the next few working days"
  14. Many moons ago [during the war ] i got a skoda, it was cheap, real cheap, and not all that old at all, i offered it to the masses at a reduced price, as it had come cheap, and was happy with a quick flip, never having had one before, i thought the penny pinchers would be excited over this one but the phone was very quiet, after about 3 weeks, a few had come and gone, one chap tried telling me that "it had a valve off " yeah right, thinking he was trying it on i dismissed him. Sitting down later and pondering what he said, it seemed he went into a bit too much detail really ? He had explained that one particular valve always burned out, and it got me thinking, so, i took it for "another" run, and realised it was a little slow, lifting the boot [ yes boot ! ] i listened, sod me, he was right, and i had missed it ! So, head gasket and valve ordered, readvertised for thursday, this time proper full retail price, sold with all confidence now, unfortunatley, skoda, at the time, had shocking parts departments, not in till thursday ! never mind, phones quiet, got bits first thing thursday, returned to base and began to pull it to bits [ a simple job on these i remember] so phone rings doesn't it he is very keen, and travelling 80 + miles to view, and he is bringing wife to drive it back, and got folding, so its very hard to resist the temptation to say come tomorrow, well, i have never worked so fast in all my life, job done, just topping up levels when he "appears". "just checking levels" i said, you got a long run back best to be safe i said, kicking the tool box out of view and hoping he does not see the old head gasket poking out of bin, well, his test drive was also my test drive ! keeping my eye on gauges we returned and hoping there is nothing amiss i lifted the boot for his examination, lovely, no leaks, no problems, kerching, paid, never worked so fast in all my life long time before i got another skoda, but next time i knew to spend more time listening as well as looking
