  1. Surely, it’s jelly and custard.... apple pie and custard... treacle tart and custard... etc etc
  2. Give the seller the option to do the right thing immediately, otherwise Trading Standards. TS will jump on the oportunity, GREAT publicity for little effort.....
  3. Modern classics, I’ve just bought a 20 year old E55 which was much better than the eBay description... Well surprised
  4. Please read the forum, use the search button to research lots of previous posts explaining finance.
  5. Hated ?? No one hates a newbie here. If however they just happen to be a moronic, nappy wearing, annoying idiot then they told so... Welcome Chaplin, follow your heart.
  6. I replace what needs to be replaced, no more no less.
  7. I don't have a case, nor trousers ...... I do all my compuiter work from home, I only go in to my unit when its needed...
  8. Agreed, I have had a few nasty experiences at home over the years, a few rucks with punters and neighbours with Police involvement....I'm not a fighter but I stand my ground.... Anyways the sherberts can change a man, easily done..... I also think a premises gives you more power, its your domain, your pad, you don't feel like a doorstopper..... I have nothing against doorstoppers, becuae I am simply a doorstopper through and through who just has a unit..... If you are the sort of bloke who likes a shed (I'm not).... But, I do like my unit, so if you are a shed man, get a unit...... a shed mans Heaven.....
  9. I meet all my customers at the unit, it’s nice to have the separation from home
  10. It’s 3389 ft’’ Squared, rent is 13k no VAT and it’s under the rateable value.
  11. I’m very pleased to say the pink Fist has gone !!
  12. Sorry, I'm preacing my way... you follow your own nose
  13. James clarify the above and reasure him. Simply, ask him to commit to purchase on confirming your accuracy. If he makes excuses you will know he's coming to waste your time, looking at cars for his long lost cousin, waiting for a lottery win, pension, needs wifes permission etc..... You attract the buyer by your advert, you guarantee accuracy, you then simply ask for commitment. No commitment = no appointment.
  14. Stop emailing him. Call him or tell him to call you. Mr Punter, please call me so I can reassure you of the qualitity of the car. Ia m not in the business in
  15. Walls yes, floor no. That area is solely for pictures with all year round continuity I’m fortunate I can store 20 cars inside, but I certainly don’t want to pay to cover that area with epoxy. It’s just a storage I’m gonna work of my offices next....
  16. I have never felt the need to offer warranties, I believe it invites continued additional grief, I'm willing to stand by my obilgations under the CRA and I tell my buyers that. When you specilaise in older high mileage motors, nearly every repair consitues wear n tear and Mr Customer needs to understand they have to take repsonsibility and ownership ..... If you prep right, PDI right, describe right, use the right stationary and be ultimately fair, you shoukld be OK. Knowing your obligations under the CRA is imperative.
  17. Welcome back Mark I'm gonna leave it blank at the moment, thinking of painting the wall a light grey aswell......
  18. Just got the first coat down......
  19. Stalker, I understood your reply perfectly. I do “get it”.... I admire that you only do the work that is actually required. I can also understand why customers feel fleeced when unnecessary repairs are insisted upon.
  20. As mechanics you are not in the position to say it needs replacement until you hear it at cold start up and inspect when the clutch is out.
  21. I repeat. It's up to you to give the choice, document it, cover your ass, not to make the decision for the customer..... There may be absolutely nothing wrong with the DMF. Why assume that its faulty, how are they to know it hasn't altready been replaced ? To blanketly assume it hasn't and state it must be replaced is a rip off and very very bad advice.... Simple To blanketly say a DMF should be replaced with a clutch is simply wrong. End of.
