Basic stuff. Cover yourself http://www.lawgistics.co.uk/shop/stationery/stationery-pads/vehicle-order-form.html A deposit is a down payment confirming the intent to buy. https://www.thecarexpert.co.uk/is-my-deposit-refundable-asktce/ You might bend over. Myself, put in the above ‘scenario’ I most definitely wouldn’t.

Don’t agree at all. Nowhere in my book do I find it acceptable for a third party came to my premises and accuse me of being car clocker. They would be unceremoniously escorted off.

Customer car blows up 8 weeks after purchase...

I sold a CLK35O in January to a guy, in March I get a text saying gearbox had a problem and it needs a £980 repair. I said, no problem return it to me (as per our contract) and I’ll get it inspected. It’s passed six months, nothing heard since Well, what’s life without a bit of mitigation..... -

“The mechanic”, what you mean his mate down the pub maybe, who knows... White smoke, runs fine... Speculation Speculation Speculation. Until the op has got billy to return it to him so he can inspect it’s all speculation. -

You are assuming bending over without knowing the facts. You mean the fault was there at the point of sale and the car was smoking like a trooper and knocking like a pig. However, he didn’t notice that on collection, nor did he for the two months he had it... Nor did he put oil in it.... Who knows.... it’s all speculation.. -

I’ll say it again. You are making a huge assumption without knowing the facts. Knowledge is power, until you know where you stand this is all guessing. -

I keep saying the same thing, this is guessing, we don’t know the facts. However, if your initial call is to advise bending over then you will be regularly and royally shafted (good n hard). You learn your own way. Are you with lawgistics ? -

First point. The PDI shows you are a responsible seller and have done the job right. Second point. Fit for purpose, is irrelevant if it’s down to fair wear n tear. Im getting at clarifying and absolving responsibility when it is and isn’t due. -
Exactly.

He’s admitted the fault wasn’t present at the point of sale, something has let go months down the line. It’s Billy’s responsibility to prove the fault was there at the point of sale for a refund. I wouldn’t be bending over at all until I knew the full facts... This is all guess work, we don’t know the facts -

I agree, but you never know... surely offering a percentage of the repair is fair. If the car is repaired with new rings n seals then betterment can be argued... this is not a new car, it’s a banger.... -

He marched the rude ignorant Twat off his property, not the female buyer. She had the choice to continue, she walked. I’ve been in the same situation a few times, show offs, know it all’s or just the purely ignorant try to scupper just to make themselves feel big. Fuck em.

I wouldn’t refund, they changed their minds following incorrect ignorant advice. They broke the contract.

LIKE.... When you haved a built up pot its easier to cope with the bollocks... Yes, it is very rewarding making your own way, but it isn't easy and you need determination. I sell around a 150 cars a year which gives me an above average comfortable income, however its taken 30 years and the shit never goes away. The thing is I love the job, I'm a wheeler dealer at heart........ Always looking for a deal... -

Its more likely to be a monopoly so they can make more money by further reducing our margins -
Luke, if you are straight, I would suggest you ring them enquiring why, this shows you are a responsible business. If not.... hide all of your paperwork and run to the hills with your maidens..... when they get you...say nothing Hope this helps.... Seriously now, its best to confront any issue.... not knowing eats away at you.
