  1. Bollocks, cut is dead and stop the billy from taking advantage
  2. If you give an inch they will take a mile. Don't give ever an inch. LIKE LIKE.
  3. Nik, Ive always loved your letters...Perfectly toned.... LOVE THIS..
  4. Is just me who see this.......Transfers only.... = zero additional fees.. no chargebacks or section 75... oh and the money is in your account within 2 hours.... you can BIN anther car and have it arrive at your site before a potential card payment has even got into your account. Why oh why take cards... unless it’s £99 deposit.
  5. I will buy remotely privately occasionally off eBay, as long as after I’ve spoken to the seller I get the feeling they have been open and honest I have no problem securing the car with a small deposit, I also agree the price on the basis of their description and state I won’t mess with them on collection. You have to trust your own instincts on who you are dealing with.... small risk for a large reward. I agree with Nik, auctions nearly always have bargains you just need to be patient and to know when to take a punt, this does take years to learn... TV trusted his gut on the XF (another post) but that does takes years of experience and big balls to take a punt (with your own money) and be pragmatic if your gut is wrong... He was right.. you only learn this by being a wheeler dealer, getting to the halls and following your nose... Thats the best part of the job imo, nothing like the buzz of buying stock.. Ohh and making the money at the other end
  6. I meet billies at my unit for collection only. That’s why punctuality is important, lateness is just wasting my time.
  7. I'm with you..... When theyve paid, done the docs and then they mention, oh insurance I tell them I have to leave and usher them outside.... Got to be done...
  8. The mrs put the heating on today.... Agreed !! I tell them, I work to a strict schedule so please be punctual....... Ive even said to people before...if you had to pick up a £1m lottery win at 11am you would be on time, so fecking make sure your with me on time.
  9. Apart from middle lane hoggers...... It really really bugs me when people call ( I'm busy ) and they aren't courtious enough to leave a polite voicemail. Its so fecking rude in my book, I always leave a message, its just polite...... And then you get they feckers which'll call you x4 within 10 minutes, what planet are these people on...
  10. Mark, I add value by prepairing the car.........Painting, valeting, freshly MOTing, Servicing and PDIing. Making the car right when it goes out.
  11. Up to 11 so far BTW, every part is into fair wear n tear when it is out of manufacturers warranty.. If the manufacturer won't guarantee it lifespan how the hell can we be liable.
  12. I don't agree an alternator or starter motor should last the lifetime of a car. If the part isn't guaranteed to work for the lidetime of the car by the Manufacturer, why should we be responsible.... If one failed within the first 30 days I would be offering the cost of used example. You don't get "new for old" in my opinion. LIKE I fully understand your market Nik, its very different to mine now, you are looking for finance, that isn't a route I want to go down. We all do things differently.
  13. I agree totally especially is you have a workshop
  14. Mr Customer a warranty on an old car isn't worth the paper its written on, its an insurance policy written to protect the (companies interest) from paying out. They exclude Wear n Tear, as does the CRA so when you are purchasing an old car Mr Customer you should be expecting wear n tear. What I do Mr Customer is make sure the car is completely mechanically sound, new MOT, service, independent inspection prior to it leaving me, however its your responsibility to take ownership for faults were occur afterwards. Along those lines usually..... Oh, and don't expect "gold for the price of silver" I love that one
  15. It’ll all work out in the end, it’s in everyone’s interest
  16. I pay Manheim to deliver all my cars, it makes sense when you buy online.
  17. You never stop learning. With 30+ years of experience I just see cars as a commodity, its a numbers game. I can turn my back in the hall and not make as second thought on the car that I have been out bid on, it used to bug me... I'm confident enough to do the job my way or highway You learn to take hits pragmatically, but they do become less. I could write a book on this post.
  18. A charge back can be claimed on a CC for the total amount of the goods if the amount paid was £100+. When you sign up for your machine you agree to this in your contract. Its madness in my eyes.
  19. James, we are talking credit cards, thus Section 75, not charge backs. As soon as a Billy cries to the CC company they will claw the money back from you. Because they have equal liability you are their first port of call.
  20. Credit card payment = potential free car hire...
