  1. OK.......might be a long wait for another S3 !
  2. No ,I don’t think so,I am with them,it’s a bit like those Sierra Cosworths years ago, great sellers but the punters were horrible.Suburu Impreza’s were the same.
  3. Our guys could have bought a nice enough 57 av.miles ,fsh S3 at the door last week for right money. They don’t like S3 retail punters so they ‘passed ‘on it.The guy sold it to WBAC for £6800.....It was entered in UKCG Select in NCLE today and did £8600 online. So with the fees.BCA have just grossed over £2000 on one car......nice one !
  4. 100%...agree. We do our own warranty ( breakdown agreement ),we must have saved a fortune over the years.Another benefit is,our guys get repeat punters week in week out.
  5. AD,I haven’t been to Colchester for years,we used to get some good stuff there. They had this brilliant auctioneer,I have never seen so many ‘quick knocks’......Have you tried WOMA,no quick knocks but a lot of your stuff.
  6. That is amazing,I can honestly say that is the best endorsement I have heard about Washington in 20 years ! Yes,I agree, cheap hammer down prices, but by the time you have done the paintwork etc..... Being a northern trader,.I used to buy there 4 days a week ,every week. However, for the past 20 years,we have bought ‘daan saaf’. ....Everyone to their own I suppose !
  7. If you want autos in general go north. If you want big auto stuff and some paintwork ,try Jockland.
  8. That’s interesting,I will try the chat line.I doubt they will speak to me,apparently when I quote them my reference etc,I get flagged up !
  9. I met a Jap importer about 8 years ago who changed from importing Jap stuff to importing Discovery’s and Freelanders from Japan ? He was in an oldish Freelander and it was mint ,he appeared to be doing OK.
  10. And all us ‘doubting Thomas’s ? Well done.
  11. Since when have ‘chucky duffers’ been refered to as clients. There is a dedicated chucky duffer pitch near us and they appear to have plenty of ‘clients’.You see them often standing outside, they seem travel together ’enmasse’ ,some of them look like they should not be allowed out.You must have to employ ex social workers on sales. The job is hard enough ......
  12. Hi EK No ,in the days I went ,all the entries were sold where they stood and were never started up until you paid for them! All the auctioneers would walk around with clip boards and stand by the car being sold.Would Bert be their in 1980.
  13. I recall Central when it was in the meat market in Glasgow,5 different sales going on at once, all the entries were sold where they stood and weren’t started up,you had to rely on the description.None of the proper guys bought from Central in those days, most of the stuff was clocked or misdescribed and Central were not the worst. We used to buy from Beiths and Mr Beith the auctioneer was a propper, propper gent,I don’t think he accepted bids from ‘the dodgys ‘.
  14. Wonderfull......Can you imagine if these dating agencies offered physical and financial indemnities, they could charge more than BCA !
  15. It’s got to be a scam.I doubt these The Ashfiq bros from South London have a litigation group at all or have any legal qualifications.Their Ltd company has no assets!
  16. The worst one I have attended is Birmingham Car Auctions,I did not mind the flowing white robes, but it was the long swords .Does anyone recall Edinburgh Motor Auctions,we would all decamp there after BCA Edinburgh. The auction was OK but it was in the centre of the worst social housing estate I have ever seen,300 acres of huge grey concrete tower blocks.
  17. We did deal with Charlton or whatever it was called, but I never went there. When we had the London pitch,my partner, as a sideline ,used to buy cheapies out of Colchester which had to be taxed and sold them at Charlton probably because buyers did not bother with insurance. So it probably was rough. I have never heard of Maidstone auction.
  18. I have been there several times,it was OK,I had forgotten about them until I went to Brightwells last October.
  19. Surely it is posh there now compared with when it was Coopers.
  20. Has anyone been to any auctions where the location and the clientele were so rough, you were uncomfortable .
  21. Shotts,it is cold there in August, used to go when it opened long ago, nice people to deal with. Most of the trade entries needed paintwork and no mileage’s were warranted .You could get some good stuff there.
  22. I think it was the hydrolastic suspension that collapsed and drive shaft problems on new Wedges that was the problem. But that did not put the second hand punters off because they could have a 6 month old one for £5 per week.I recall doing 5 one Monday during a heavy snow storm ( past glories again). As for harming the planet ,most of the punters then worked in heavy industry, down the pits, shipyards, chemical industry, breathing in all sorts of toxic stuff, they would not be interested in saving the planet.
  23. 2 big down days for the market+CEO sold off 4% of their holding
  24. If anyone is interested,BCA under 170p and Pendragon 21p,they are cheap, maybe worth a punt for the long term, ours we bought last week stand a bit more than that......
