In this trade we experience ‘dodgy painters’ cos most of us don’t want to pay the price of a proper one

Remember, punters don’t know you’ve painted it so won’t be staring at it like you looking for imperfections & colour matches. Tbh as long as it’s some shade of black 95% of punters won’t notice.

Hi, I would expect that to be a base and clear, even solid colours (non metallics) are base coat and clear nowadays. I have had good results using good quality aerosols on small parts such as yours, I've even done whole bumpers with a "bodyshop type" colour matched aerosol Base Coat, and then Clear Lacquered with large Aerosol Lacquers It's all in the preparation though, if you don't rub it down dead flat, use the right plastic primer, etc etc then the finish will be poor. As said, dust the first coat or 2 and leave it in warm environment for an hour or more to seal it up, then 2 heavier base coats, and lacquer tomorrow Fit it but don't polish it for a few days HTH

That depends on whether the jet black is the right jet black. If so, go for it. Do a few coats, dust it lightly on the first coat and do maybe 4. Should look fine. It won’t look bad at all for such a small area. But make sure the paint is a match.

MyPalAl Instead of a turntable another cheaper option is to have the 360 spin - have a look on my website https://specialistcars-stoke.co.uk/showroom/bmw-218i-m-sport-coupe/ also shows inside , customers cal 'spin and get close ups too' ! Just an idea. Umesh

If you start earlier, finish later and work harder it will work. Outwork others making smart decisions learning from the mistakes and you will do well. You seem very hungry for it I reckon you will do very well for what its worth. Having everything in house, or at least the ability to grow to doing everything in house keeps costs low and increases speed of prep which gives a big advantage. I have always tried to view it that my cars have always been back and on sale whilst others are waiting on delivery. Best of luck.

I would, just go in there and take back your property. It’s yours.

Nice report Dave, to be fair you've done more prep on that thing than some dealers do a piece of stock

i totally agree you can always tell a prospective sale by the fact the main question is, is it still for sale?,i never get asked best price from these people and when they turn up when they say they will its a privilege to serve them and i tell them so and thank them for the sale
