EPV 631 Posted November 27, 2018 Anyone in Kent got a reliable Auto Electrician please? I’m on the verge of sacking mine, i’m a good patient customer of any trade person and I understand that sometimes cars don’t want to be fixed easily but this chap I use is becoming a liar, dodging phone calls and worse still letting customers down by cancelling appointments and dodging calls. I don’t seem to have much luck with Auto sparks, the two I have used have both been very unreliable and can’t seem to keep an appointment to save their lives. Also anyone in Essex please, I have a customer in Southend who has a weak radio signal on a bmw e93 so I need an auto spark down your neck of the woods. It’s already been diagnosed as the diversity amplifier so I just need someone to go and finish what my less than reliable auto spark started. Cheers in advance. MOTORS 25 Posted November 27, 2018 Is it an estate? I've had a few of these where the radio gets poor reception. The wire to the diversity amplifier in the rear spoiler goes through the rubber grommets / rubber pipes from the body to the tailgate. The wire snaps from constant opening & closing and just needs soldering back together and re-insulating with some heat shrink sleeves. From memory its a brown wire. Real easy repair to fault find & repair once you've located the wire in the rubber pipe. Hope this helps.
EPV 631 Posted November 27, 2018 No mate, an e93 is a vert. Thanks anyway though!

I don't think there is one since Tim Farley in Dartford packed it in many years ago
Mark101 536 Posted November 28, 2018 To be honest James, I find anyone (any trade) who is mobile to be unreliable in terms of time keeping, answering calls etc. Valeter = brilliant but always always an excuse for being 3 hours late Key Guy = Only ever once failed to repair a key but always half a day late I always allow 24 hours contingency on any job now. I.e. customer collecting Friday, I tell whoever I need it Thursday etc. I wish everyone offered the same level of customer service that we offer.
BHM 994 Posted November 28, 2018 At our end of the trade (I.e. trade NOT retail) just about every fucker is unreliable.

To be fair the BMW should be fixed by a decent Indie? And if they cant or don't want to they should know a decent Sparky? We had a Volvo 3 years ago that tortured us, and we couldn't get our hands on a wiring diagram, so we packed it off to our local Volvo specialist who then directly phoned his sparky and let him use his factory VIDA software that gave him the wiring diagrams. It's a weak radio signal, 100% of the time this is a failed diversity amplifier, it just needs a competent auto electrician.

It will be easier to find a decent Indie in my experience. Master techs at the dealers now are expected to be able to fix all faults, inc wiring and gearboxes and engine rebuilds. They usually work for the same kind of money.
Dave2302 387 Posted November 28, 2018 Exactly +1 to that I had this conversation yesterday with a guy (new customer), who said I was a bit dear I asked him where the barbed wire is around my Workshop (keeping him in) lol I then told him I can justify every penny on my Invoices and if there is something he's not happy about all he has to do is ask. He will come back, just a posh recently relocated Engleesh from Plockton chancing his arm "discount for cash old bean" I also told him these days Cash is a PITA and I'd rather have a Bank Transfer 1 hour ago, EPV said: It's a weak radio signal, 100% of the time this is a failed diversity amplifier, it just needs a competent auto electrician. No, 80% the other 20% aren't getting the Wake Up signal

Screenman 47 Posted November 28, 2018 The only timed appointment I can give is the first one of the day, I blame the dealers, they call and tell you they have one panel with a dent in, get there and another 5 cas have appeared looking like train wrecks. Because of that anything after first call is sometime that day, I always return calls and never let people down.
