I give up! Is it just me?

Recommended Posts

Took in the best little auto Yaris I've had for a long time. Fmdsh and like the day it came out the factory. 13000 miles and passenger seats never been sat on. Little old lady owner from our village who is given up driving. Surprisingly no little bumps on bodywork. A very careful driver.Young lady comes in and loves it. Puts a deposit down and leaves.

All ready to go out this morning and she turns up with her car mechanic boyfriend who knows everything about the trade.I have two other customers I'm dealing with and he starts spirting off how it's far to low mileage for a 59 plate and must of been clocked or had a new clock.

Then after explaining 1 owner lives just down road bla bla bla. HPI clear main dealer will verify mileage he wants to know why it's not in my name if I own car.

I have 18 cars here and none are in my name and no you can't see the receipt for yaris. I promptly march him off premises and sold yaris 2 hours later to a very excited lady who couldn't believe her luck.

Trouble is I still have the first couples deposit and they are not answering their phone.

Why are you ringing them to give them their deposit back? They'll come crawling round soon enough to get it.

Exactly that, if they ask they shall receive.. no need to assist this couple any further if they decided to pull the vehicle to bits with the use of an "expert".... Just be ready to hand it over and see them off the premises again.. Unless you have a bloody internet feedback system, then of course doff your cap and try again to offload the deposit, for this vehicle was obviously not one for them! Now then, dont get me wrong, I'm not one for bowing to the whim of each and every customer; they have opinions and every arsehole has one.. its about moving one and doing business; keeping the mither and stress to minimum levels.. so get the cash back whenever possible; let them know it sold for more two hours after they lobbed their teddy out the pram and move on.. Snowflakes in summer, jeeeze

Send them a cheque with a covering note of 'refunded deposit'.  Idiots.  Their loss.

if youve rung them, they will see a missed call from you. If they choose to do nothing, thats down to them. when they ask for it back, give it and count yourself lucky you didnt have to deal with them when the MMT plays up....

Put it into a separate bank account marked 'c-units holiday fund' and keep it in an instant access basis so you can pay it back if they have the gall to ask for it.

Otherwise add to it when the next Billy comes along doing the same shit but on a different day and enjoy a holiday with your family from the abandoned proceeds!

Sorry, can't see why this is any stress or mither at all. You've got their money and the car of interest is now sold to a more appreciative customer. IF they come back, give it them back. Don't be chasing them FFS.

This happens to us all from time to time me with my first time buyers market quite often , i would wait for them to crawl back and point out the car sold within an hour to a mechanic from Toyota who couldnt fault the car even after a two hour inspection. (little white lie and rub the salt right in)

And why give up you sold the car and get to make the guy look like a prize tool win win in my book

Kind of in agreement. Make him look like a tit and his GF will be giving him grief every time any other car they buy goes wrong and for the forseeable.

I wouldn’t refund, they changed their minds following incorrect ignorant advice. They broke the contract.

Not really. They were shoved off the OP’s pitch because the boyfriend started asking annoying questions. Annoying as they may be, they haven’t done anything wrong. You couldn’t even claim they have cost you money, OP sold the car 2 hours later.

I wouldn’t be running round to get them it back but withholding it would be wrong in these circumstances.

He marched the rude ignorant Twat off his property, not the female buyer. She had the choice to continue, she walked. I’ve been in the same situation a few times, show offs, know it all’s or just the purely ignorant try to scupper just to make themselves feel big. Fuck em.

I've had them leave a deposit as the car is a good price, right colour and spec etc, held car for a week only for the numpties to turn up and try to start negotiating the price......... I'd had the sense to keep the numbers of other enquiries in the meantime so told the original customer to do one and also sold the car the same day to another person.

Accusing you of 'clocking' in front of customers might need thinking about? Slander?

put on your signed receipt the day collection is to be made and in the legal wording that a no show is breach of contract and you may need to chase them for any sums you may be out due to this breach, also you will not break the contract either ,unless both parties agree

We do the same in the form of a deposit slip.....

In this case I would still refund the deposit-Just to move on. Life’s too short.

Don’t agree at all.  Nowhere in my book do I find it acceptable for a third party came to my premises and accuse me of being car clocker. They would be unceremoniously escorted off.

Basic stuff. Cover yourself

http://www.lawgistics.co.uk/shop/stationery/stationery-pads/vehicle-order-form.html

A deposit is a down payment confirming the intent to buy.

https://www.thecarexpert.co.uk/is-my-deposit-refundable-asktce/

You might bend over. Myself, put in the above ‘scenario’ I most definitely wouldn’t.
