Mat C 77 Posted November 13, 2017 After advice or any reliable contacts please. We operate in an industrial unit, approx 2000 sq ft nice white painted walls and concrete screeded floor. When we moved in the floor was lovely, 2 years later its minging, paints faded, gets so dusty, I have to constantly sweep up and spray water to take my pictures to make them look better, its starting to get on my t1ts now. We've just removed some internal walls to fit our own 2 poster ramp in so we can get a tech to do our prep and then start offering specialist servicing. We need a new floor relatively quickly, so i've been looking at a few options. 1. Paint the floor again. We're next door to Dulux paint centre, so could get a deal on the paint and spend a weekend doing it ourselves, however, after 10 mins of having the door open, will be dusty and shitted up again fairly quickly. 2. Vinyl flooring. I've seen this on a mates garage and on a few car dealers pics when scouring the net. Comes in 10m rolls about 3,mm thick and just rolls out and stays put, this would give us a much cleaner look, easier to clean, and look a lot more professional than we are right now. However struggling to find a local supplier or specialist. Also not sure this would be any good for under a ramp? And its not cheap! but can be moved with us if we move? Any alternatives or contacts or advice from you seasoned professionals?
justina3 518 Posted November 13, 2017 Local main dealer just used these people and fair play the finish is like rock https://www.regalfloorpaint.co.uk/?kw=floor%20paints&fl=928722&ci=208855958372&network=s&pm=&dev=c&gclid=CjwKCAiAoqXQBRA8EiwAIIOWslyoLaJ1WJRsVpigM7Ws3sL8FvZ42-6ZE0ss2iXaWlkt2rIXwYgBwxoCXL0QAvD_BwE
Stephen 21 Posted November 13, 2017 Hi Id paint the floor, far cheaper and easier You cant just roll out vinyl, even if it is commercial grade and leave it, its got to be fully stuck to the floor. Also floor may need prep work to get it flat and smooth enough.

sparky 274 Posted November 13, 2017 I had something similar to option 2 earlier in the year for a valeting bay. Approx 50 square meters of proper industrial flooring which is hard wearing and wipes clean etc. That cost me £800 fitted and i have to say it's been well worth it. Stops me from sitting on my arse, spending all day on here..... A packet of extra strong mints is cheaper than having the leccy fire on but you have to suck each mint for half an hour to make one packet last a day on painting the floor do not buy off passing paint sellers ive got some do diddly in the back of me van as it usually doesnt dry as they dont give you the hardener for it if painting floor depending on thickness it can easily take 5 days to dry and dont do what i once did and paint myself into the wrong corner

I've considered all sorts, garage tiles, laminate flooring and even carpet!!..... I was considering dark carpet, but the main problem we have is that our main roller shutter door leads directly onto the road, where there's 18 wheelers plowing past every 5 minutes into the yard across the way. Its so dusty here its untrue, so my thought would be the vinyl stuff so we can just mop it, currently if we mop our floor, its just pushing the paint from one place to the next! Tom 164 Posted November 13, 2017 I was thinking one of those red heaters. they work well https://www.heat-outdoors.co.uk/electric-patio-heaters/shadow-fatboy-ultra-heat-patio-1270182.html?pid=1270183&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4rLnko281wIVZLftCh021QHnEAQYAiABEgKw9PD_BwE
Mat C 77 Posted November 13, 2017 I’d imagine you’d get better results with a fag lighter. I doubt there’s any point heating it as it all disappears up through the roof
BHM 994 Posted November 13, 2017 Yep, you could have a Rolls Royce jet engine roaring away in the corner but the laws of physics don’t change. Hot air rises & negligible insulation won’t stop it.

Ocsltd 133 Posted November 13, 2017 22 minutes ago, tradex said: We had cheap 'magnum grey' carpet in our unit.....looked great, easier to keep clean than the floor paint we had and had the added benefits of keeping noise down and kept the place warmer 'feeling'. Just that ribbed cheap as crap from carpetright....its till down from what I hear. Good for leaky discos too! I've considered carpet. How did you find it with getting wet? Quite often I bring cars inside the unit after they've been rained on, or just valeted. How does the carpet hold up to that, does it not end up all stained and mouldy? I like the idea of carpet, just not sure if it's practical?
have a word with the wife 299 Posted November 13, 2017 my opinion is 3mm is not thick enough, and definitely not suitable [ vinyl] near a ramp, 5mm best for heavy traffic and uneven floor, i would close the doors, hire a heater and gas bottle, sweep then mop HALF of your area, and when dry paint it, roller, stuck in end of broom handle. i have seen [and dont forget its getting cold now] a friend had to delay opening his new garage for a week + due to paint being tacky, a properly painted floor resists water, sweeps easy, mops easy, and oil leaks arent a concern.
