January madness at the block

Recommended Posts

In nice and early this morning to study Manheim auction catalogue. Im short of about 7 cars at the minute so defo had me buying head on. Earmarked 8 nice low milers.

FOUR CANARIES !! all brought £4-£500 into Cap clean + out the door money ! + online fees !. WTF are these cars going to retail for a £500-£1000 over CAP retail?? not in my neck of the woods they ain't. Hope things calm down next month as its doing my head in at the minute.

On another note got a good shout on a Suzuki Alto 63 plate one lady owner car I own. Love these things cheap as chips in the book. Been backwards and forwards all week with a woman on the phone looking for a low mileage Micra for £3k with £30 Tax. I explained there is no such thing why don't you consider my Alto Mrs Customer, Zero Road Tax, Group 1 insurance Japanese reliability etc etc. Bid her over the phone on her old Nissan Micra, very little test, coming up tomorrow with other half 90% there...hurrah.

She has just rang me asking could I give her another £90 for her car because that's what its going to cost her to change her insurance over.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

Throw in a Magic Tree that should seal the deal!

Auction prices are doing my head in at the moment! There's no money in anything that goes under the hammer. I'm buying more and more via other routes at the moment although even with those there's not enough choice coming through quick enough!

The most frustrating thing is that punters have no idea, and all assume we've got ££££'s in all our cars!! I think they would be genuinely shocked if they realised how strong we have to pay, for good, clean stock!!

Yep I think the glory days are long gone.:blink:

I'm sat on two at the minute that just don't seem to want to sell despite them being amongst the cheapest, and I'll be lucky to break even!

What traders are  buying em and paying over the odds , no ones admitting to it, dealer auction has been the same all month , are they marking em double dear ? or they just having a small profit out of em .

Still shit around my end at the block too.

Couldent even buy a wheel the other night, There was even a bog standard basic kio rio in white, with black bumpers (not nice) on 59 plate. Thought I must own this, its never going to win a beauty competition but for a cheap runaround for unsuspecting subprime customer for £1100 Trade cap clean I must get this.

Sold £1600 + Fee's :o !!  left at this point

I am going to try and buy private over the next few weeks, and focus on back clearing stock that needs prep.

So far I got a Zafira that needs an engne, Insignia that needs a box, coupe s3 that needs a master cylinder, 207 S that wants a alternator

and new shape kia carens that refused to open from the passenger door without me getting cross.

Give it a few weeks and return to the madness

The thing is Andy these have recently had quite a bit of press in publications like Modern Classic's etc and are touted to already be on the price rise in that market. So an 06 car with only 35k and 9 stamps might just attract a bit of attention. Especially if he polishes it to within an inch of its life! ;)

I wonder how bad a grade 3 it was?

Sometimes these aren't that bad as you know, so let's say he's In it for 55/56 hundred, then he's still got some wiggle room for the ''Hey mate, how much for cash'' brigade.

To be fair one of the biggest profits  have had out of a car in lest few years was a MK2 MR2 on 2002 with 31K in black rough car though that needed paint and a new roof.

paid £300 for it and it sold via a internet auction company (Not Ebay)  for £2250, Paid for it straight away and got a driver to collect ;)

I could not believe my luck :)

I've had a mini park lane for months, 79k, decentish history, new mot etc etc, paid 2600, in the end I reduced it from 3695 to 2995, got fed up looking at it and still took a while to go at that price, the exact same model with the same mileage with no history made £2700 on DA, I know it's not a crazy price but I suppose if you're on a bit of a roll and selling you can get carried away and it feels like you can ride that wave forever.

I remember a few years ago when prices went crazy that we put some stock back through the block for a handsome profit!

Struggling to buy much but I have got 2 Mazda 5s probably £300-£400 below what I'd expect to pay.

Sold one and just got the other this morning, weird cos they usually do way 'over' even in normal times. first one was mint too,

Both Sport spec.

I'm just off to my local BCA to witness some more madness, and if I'm daft enough, I must just join in, wish me luck....

Very underestimated car the Mazda 5 a great 7 seater and nice change from zafira. I always try and buy them, I missed one today on the 58 plate with 54k 1.8 petrol do £2k which is very cheap for one of them.

For sure thats £4K all day long at the mileage!

I'd say I shift a Mazda 5 on average 3x as quick as any Zafira

To be honest I don't think many people care that much about zafira's catching fire or even VW's and the emissions problems.

When most people think of buying a 7 seater they automatic reply is zafira or a maybe a galaxy / sharan, the issue being the latter is a lot more money than the

humble zafira.

The mazda 5 is great car, far better than the zafira, the issue is that its not well known unless someone has been doing there research or better still they know someone who has one,

Took one in part ex about 9 months ago and still have it...tried everything to get rid of it and it is very very very cheap. Everyone I get on for a seven seat turns their nose up at it and tells me that they blow up

Well the madness seems to be rolling over into February!

Had my eye on a 2010 Saab 9-3 1.9 TTiD Automatic Estate, Grade 2, 40k miles, FMDSH, 1 Owner, so ticked all the boxes, think cap clean was something like £4800, hammer price, £7400!!! That's retail money!!!

Might go back to selling bangers, think there's more margin in them!!!

They don't make them anymore so they're only going to get rarer!!!

In all seriousness though...there was a 2.3 Saab Estate in our local auction recently that was a mintbox, booked at about 4k and made just under 6k excluding fees so maybe the books just see them incorrectly?

Ha I mentioned this a few weeks back!!!

Saab and Volvo estates are on FIRE at the moment! I'm sick of being outbid by several thousand...total madness! The last two were internet bids and ended up in London at a Saab/Volvo specialist for 3.5k and 4k over retail. They say there's an idiot for every car! :P
