MOT history check online

Recommended Posts

So, lady across the road has blown the H/G in her Corsa. It's been parked up outside her house for a couple of weeks. I ran the usual checks and its "uninsured", Tried to check the tax and it says "VEHICLE DETAILS COULD NOT BE FOUND", so I'm guessing its SORN'd. But the MOT history has disappeared and I get the message "No vehicle that matched the data you entered could be found". Am I doing something wrong?

I hope I am not hijacking this old thread but landed here when I was googling MOT history check online.

Link to below GOV website where you can check MOT history and its free

https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

another website (link below) offers detail free car history check. I am not promoting but its genuinely free no credit cards or personal details asked

all the best to all used car buys out there

I was/kind of still am interested in a vehicle that is throwing up odd results in valuation queries.  MOT history works fine, eurocarparts recognize the car but  not all motor factors . 'Cant identify car from registration ' Anyone think of a reason why? It's a Ford focus reg sj60gfk.

It does that when the certificate of destruction is issued normally especially on the tax . Sometimes the mot history still works sometimes not ..

Even when a vehicle has a SORN it usually shows up saying it's SORN when you reg check it, what's the vehicles registration (if you don't mind sharing it?) - I often do vehicle checks with https://www.rapidcarcheck.co.uk and they offer support even if you’re not a customer.

There are a lot of advisories that need to be considered and checked before buying a used car, getting an MOT check is easy, you can either get it from the government

or from this website that i found while searching for MOT History, "CarDotCheck", they offer detailed and easy to understand free car history checks. Its totally free and they don't ask for personal details at all.

P.S. Not at all promoting, i am a car enthusiast and well (who doesn't love free stuff?)

We need to perform detailed checks because doggy people :ph34r:try to off load rubbish cars onto us px thinking we wont know , but we do :D.

please do share and it was just a way of helping people, why so much hate?.

Privates cant use the info we have Masie its trade only .

I have never hated anyone in my life either , if the truth is called hate so be it in your world , but not mine .

We as traders use sites far more  detailed than the one your talking about , that's the truth , no hate in that comment , I'm just putting a professional view to your findings of a very simple  check site that's no more than a glorified MOT history check that,s just trying to lure privates into paying for the detail .

Everyone to their own though .

Sorn will still display on .giv site and display as sorn.

It can take a few days for .gov to update.

Number of causes for this and the most obvious is plate transfer, as mentioned. Scrapped is another possibility.

You should test the vrm in other sites like these. Some APIs take a while to update and it might flag something
