Only ever imported Jap stuff direct, had a good relationship with agent in Japan but lot of trust involved, a top grade jap import was far superior condition than anything available here.
-
We used to import lots of Jap stuff but now its probably more beneficial to export them with exchange rate, be careful with UAE most of stuff that gets nicked from Japan ends up there and gets cloned.

No disrespect but 2 weeks on Autotrader and your worried and cutting price, that's the sort of thing a private would do, when you have spent £100,s advertising it on Autotrader and still not sold it is time reality hits home that we aren't all having it off, the big negative with your car is the manual gearbox, only one in 8 merc c class,s for sale are manual, reason being the stupid hand/footbrake, I have bought/sold many Mercs and sold them well but always keep away from manuals.

well its working again now but I think its time I binned it,

Saturday morning and start of what should be a busy weekend (we live in hope) and for the second time in a month glass guide is unavailable online, it happened last month I tried to ring them and they don't work weekends!!!! rang on the Monday and they said oh yes we had a system error so it was off all weekend until we came in Monday,,, WTF surely someone offering such a vital service to a 7 day a week industry should be able to keep running 7 days a week or have staff on call in emergencies. Guess its time to throw the book in the bin and save £600 a year

Yeah how much did those Polaroid films cost,,, now the dealer does all the work for them and has all the expense
-
thanks for swift reply Umesh, yours look great I will keep practising before I actually try to load one onto my website, technology has moved on since autotrader rep came with black and white polaroid and held print under her arm pit while it dried...

So everyone says its the future but as a technophobe it baffles me, I did walk round a car with my i-phone on record and the resulting video looked like i had consumed 10 pints or had the on set of parkinsons, I have watched some excellent videos from the likes of Umesh and some lousy ones from some of the big boys, the question is what camera does anybody recommend, how long is spent on them, do you edit them how do you upload to your website etc etc,

What is the best automotive website provider?
whitestone679231 replied to Megan's topic in General Dealer Chat
think its about 40 odd quid a week but give them a ring as they do different packages, ie our facefuck auto feeds through them etc, they are very approachable and don't give you the hard sell. -

Click Dealer are about the best for value and service, been using them for a good few years now, no hassle and easy to use even for a dinosaur like me. -
Its that piece of string question again, at the end of the day it isn't what your overheads are but how much you have left in the pot after they are paid, I know that if I didn't spend on advertising or prepping cars to the standards that I have and wiping customers backsides when they have a problem then I would have substantially less overheads but I doubt I would make any money either, its just getting the balance right.

I bought a very similar car to this last week, book was £5500 plus £2500 for mileage which I thought was generous I gave a grand behind mileage book of £8000. think they good value at that and retail around £9k

Unfortunately in this day and age we have to take notice of nutters and respond to them because sensible genuine buyers also read the reviews, numerous buyers have told me that they read up about us before travelling to see us so hopefully a response to bad review can be turned around to a positive. -
Just had a 2star google review by someone who has never been near our showroom and his other reviews included one saying b&q ripped him off because he could buy a knife £2.50 cheaper somewhere else, I feel I should reply to all reviews, here is his review including poor grammar, competition for best reply ... Car fault but owner lives 90 miles away

Where in country is he? Surely a friendly trustworthy dealer off this forum near to him would be first port of call, if it has a problem fair enough but I have known privates try it on, I would trust a trader off here for a 2nd opinion -
Call me cynical but another newbie singing a companies praises.....

she will be back with faulty external door handles next, almost every 500 I have had the handles broke, you can buy just the hinge bit off flea bay though saving a tidy sum and once you have fit one the next one is an easy job.
-
designed by privates for privates, love the bit with the engine off squeeze the hoses for brittleness... how about adding with the engine running press your fingers on fan belt to check for play...

Can we make a section for this,,,, along with the guy who wants his deposit back from motability and the trade plate guy that took up half of my page,,, and possibly the researcher that wouldn't admit he was from Autotrader....

I used to sell 20 cars a month when I was with Autotrader (60 cars advertised) The cost and arrogance of them got too much for me so I cancelled, at the time the rep said no one leaves AT for good (he came in a few months ago..... he had left and was touting for a finance company) I advertise everywhere else e-bay, motors, car gurus, local paper, facebook, and have a good web site provider, since leaving AT I have still sold an average of 20 a month but saved £1000,s on advertising and increased my margins as I am not competing to be on page 1, Facebook really does need working at and takes a long time before results come through, you need to build up your audience and ensure all your past customers are fully engaging with you, time consuming but inexpensive and in my opinion is a no brainer.
