Rav 4 has suddenly gone out of fashion for some reason. They used to be easy sellers round these parts. As regards the 160k, I am finding that mileage doesn't put punters off like it used to

When the prices for diesels start catching up at the block it's going to be mighty tough not sticking my hand in the air!

Are we all comfortable buying diesels. I'm feeling customer resistance recently and rarely have any, but I can see the time when they'll become the poison chalice.

Personally, with the bits I buy, if its clean I don't even bother walking in to watch.

There is a market for those old Rovers, but it has to be a 'nice one'! But, you'll be dealing with a punter viewing it as a classic/collectable and classic buyers in general have to be picky. You've been warned. I would be tempted to give it a proper punt not just 'scrap it off'! As the great man says "he who dares wins"!

Paddock Wood used to be the end of the rainbow in a very nice part of Kent/Sussex where people could afford to look after their cars regardless of age. But, that's all changed and they get the same old shit you find everywhere else. P/x's on their last legs, mostly hiding a catastrophic failure, two weeks MOT and no history. The staff are friendly though.

I've noticed that BCA do move a lot of their stock around, more than Manheim. I spend a lot of time driving up and down the M1 every week and there is a seemingly endless stream of loaded BCA trucks heading northbound. I'm guessing they know some of their stock is better placed at certain auction sites but you don't seem to get a lot of trucks heading down to Paddock Wood/Blackbushe.

Interesting? My daughter is the photographer in the family and last year I decided to let her takes some pics of one of my old bangers. It's a little bit of a giggle for her and she went full on 'moody' skies, close-up of rain drops, bokeh etc and I stuck it on anyway. I have a punter call and asks if I have any pics of the 'real' car as they were clearly Ford publicity pics. I couldn't convince him that they were actually pics of the car and I had to redo them 'dumbed down'. I let her have a go at another one yesterday, we'll see how that turns out!

I usually get the guy turn up, happy with car makes silly offer and I send him away. within an hour or so another guy asks new questions and offers a bid slightly higher than the first guy (denies any connection with first guy) I decline. Another hour and another guy calls asking again different questions and offers slightly more! Pantomime!

Spot on, all the local 'likely lads' drive these large German performance coupe's that sound like hot rods!

I wonder if wer're going to be spending time replacing EGR's and DPF that have 'gone missing' in the cars history. As I understand it, if it was originally fitted it needs to be 'present' when tested? There's a great thread on this forum showing some of the ridiculous 'advisories' that we've all experienced

It was only a matter of time before they started cracking down on people removing EGR etc. Should make MOT a bit of a lottery for a while

.... but they're not all the same and used clocks will just be another ticking timebomb. I sell loads of these early Focus' and many have replacement clocks, it's a 'focus thing' and buyers are not really put off

Does anyone have an opinion on the new changes to the MOT. Apparently grading between minor, major and dangerous. Checking DPF is in place! and zerio smoke emissions for diesels. EML light on! And relaxed criteria for windscreen chips.

Sadly no story. This is how the car came in. It's had paint down one side and some overspray has crept in on the door mirror and on the black plastic trim at the bottom of the rear bumper, which I'm assuming either the previous owner missed or didn't care about.

Thanks for the ideas, just to add that sadly it is textured plastic. Door mirror surround and bumper trim.
