  1. Corrosion on a drive belt?? Personally would get her to drop by with the car and have a look yourself. Tell her its not a new car, things will corrode underneath. Unless for some reason its hanging, offer to have it wire brushed and waxoiled and go from there.
  2. Had similar a few weeks ago. Customer bought a 2013 Suzuki Swift from me last year for his granddaughter to replace her rolled VW Polo they had off me a year before (recurring theme coming up!) Within a year she trashed the Suzuki as well. Insurance company was going to repair, with a view that they wanted to trade it in with me after the repair. I took a look over the car and said I wasn't keen, because a lovely shiny front end wasn't going to hide a dog chewed, cigarette burnt interior and it was scratched and dented all down the sides. My customer then pushed the insurers to write it off, which they did. I then sold them another Polo without having to take back the ropey/ half shiny part ex. Probably be seeing them again soon on current form!
  3. Always read these posts with a Borat voice, makes them worth reading then! High five!

I don't use Autotrader in any form at all, its pretty ineffective down in the far west. However, if you can make a living selling cars at £500 less than suggested market retail price, fundamentally CAP, I'm genuinely amazed. With cars making well over CAP clean most of the time now, I cant see where your margin is? I personally take the approach that I price up £250-350 over CAP retail and use that as my negotiating margin. I might sell more if I was working on smaller margins, but smaller margins don't pay the bills! In effect you just end up a busy fool, chasing £500 across a car and when that car comes back to bite you, its painful. Each to their own though.

"I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes....." Sorry, couldn't resist it! Agree totally, its all about gut feeling me. You cant teach it and there are no rules.
  6. Post a picture of your wang and then friend request a load of kids. You’ll get a great reaction.
  7. Always do it this way. Smile nicely at girl behind the counter when your paying a questionable amount of cash into your personal account. Then I get the wife to transfer it back as I leave that account for her to run. Usually at this point she suggests a million things she has bought for the kids that I owe her for, holding me totally to ransom!
  8. October has been a mare down here as well. Couple of old returning customers, couple of family deals, but not a lot else! Going to be a long winter at this rate!
  9. Totally agree, Global Payments are a nightmare. Terminated my agreement with them a few months back, got some extra penalty charge on my last statement. Fine, whatever. Told me they would be in touch regarding collecting my unit. A week or so back they organised collection, then sent me an invoice for £90 "unit reconditioning charge". Wouldn't recommend anyone ever to use them.
  10. Seems to happen from time to time. There was a bloke called Jack once, straight up kind of guy, you know the sort. All the prostitutes seemed to die on him as well.
  11. You will give anything a go Casper? You've left yourself wide open to some suggestions there buddy!!
  12. I fear you have too high an opinion of the British population. We also forget that if we want a trade deal, with the EU post 31st October, the first thing they will ask for is the £39bn divorce bill. No pay, no play. They don’t need us, all the numbers are in their favour! Yes we can do trade deals with the rest of the world, but that nice bit of Newlyn cod landed this morning is going to be pretty rancid by the time it’s shipped to Australia. But hey, it’s all going to be fine, because that spotty little twat with a broom sweeping the yard outside, he’s going to be on £10.50 an hour! No he won’t, he will be unemployed.
  13. Never see them making less than CAP though, that's the problem. I agree, they are plentiful so price is key. Just shifted a 14 plate 5dr one with 33k on clock at £3995. Owed me into the £3ks, so not a great return on that one. Oh well!
  14. They were on mine until I bought two CR-V CTDi's, one going into limp and the other with power surging on half throttle! Still waiting for the Honda fairy to appear overnight and magically sort them out!

Its getting more serious now as well. Yesterday it was taking 8-9 seconds, today its 10. Bugger me, tomorrow it will be 11, how will the world keep turning? He'll be in a right state by the weekend!

I would say this individual has patience issues.
  17. There isn't a lot to them to be fair, cant really be many other places for water to come in, unless its an ill-fitted screen? Let us know if you find its coming in anywhere else, water leaks can be a nightmare, yet extremely satisfying to cure! Worst bit is concealing the amount of tigerseal you have used, trying to convince a customer who notices - "they come from factory like that sir"
  18. Sure I had this a while ago on a 2011 model. It was leaking behind the glovebox and into the footwell if I remember. There was a grommet below the windscreen, under the passenger side scuttle that I resealed, quite a quick and easy job. They did advise removing the wipers, but didn't in my case, a good dollop of tigerseal seemed to do. Due to the design behind the dash it was really obvious to track its flow. I only found it 30 minutes before the car went out, so was never 100% sure of success, but they never came back and that was at least a year ago. Hope this helps.
  19. I sold it 6 or 7 years ago and was pretty mint then. Has come back in with ropey welded patches in the rear sills, a half demolished front bumper and scratches and dings all around. No point in polishing a turd (although ironically I did polish it this morning just to give it a bit of life!).
  20. Already printed, here on the desk. I'm certainly not hiding anything, its a 56 plate 62k miles 1.4 Ghia that is just scruffy.
  21. Completely agree. The type of customer who hasn't got 5 pence to scratch his arse with is the worst customer you could ever wish to meet. Got one coming in later for a £600 Fiesta we took in p/ex, wish me luck!
  22. Whatever any of this about, I have no idea nor do I care. However, the scent of scandal, drama and speculation will always generate interest. Fuelling the flames will not dampen the interest. Too many people hang on the words of faceless individuals on social media, some of whom on this site are treated like a deity because of some number by their name! I've always said empty barrels make the most noise!
  23. Obviously you don't get the Parkers Guide brigade up your way!
