The flip side to that is if it’s costing you £150 per space for advertising then 4 months is £600. That’s £600 and probably your margin gone and you possibly could have filled that space with a car and turned it twice making money instead of losing it. 9 months and that’s £1350 plus maybe 4 or 5 cars profit you could have turned. So I appreciate the sentiment of not getting rid of too quickly but hanging on too long is costing you a shit load of money and losing you possible margins.

Taking a new arrival on a long test drive and the dreaded low oil pressure warning light comes on. Cut a long and boring story short; I stopped the car immediately. The light didn’t come back on after restart. I took a chance and drove it again it didn’t come back on for 10 miles. I check the oil. It’s just below the max and had an oil change and filter AND oil pressure switch done 500 miles ago. Clearly the prev owner gave up when it didn’t fix the issue. I have it booked in Monday to a bmw specialists but according to the chap I spoke to on the phone it could be a block in the pick up. Anyone else got any stories or experience to share please?

As said above, you will have a broad spectrum of answers. I forgot to add, if you’re looking for people “not to be mean to you” you’re definitely in the wrong game. Plenty of punters, suppliers, the authorise etc will be mean to you. There’s no doubt you can get a good finish with a rattle can and there’s plenty of videos on you tube showing this. Forget getting anything from main dealers. As a rule, anyway. With a dip in the new car market they are hanging onto the returns and swappers instead of trading them out locally. Those they don’t want they mostly have a policy of sending em all off to auction. Onviously some traders have long standing relationships with local main dealers/franchises but you don’t or won’t get those relationship quickly either. You’ll have to eat some shit to get to the fillet steak. By locally and privately, learn what works round your way. Oh and read the last months worth of posts on here. It will answer lots of questions.

Just read through this forum mate. There’s so much good advice on here it’s untrue. Also read the gov website regarding trade plates etc. There’s too many things to sum up in one post for “good tips” just read every thread on here from the last month and it will answer 90% of your questions. Trouble with the flexible collection is that it's a bit too flexible in the sense that Manheim let you have 3 days before they start charging you a tenner a day I think which will erode the saving for not picking a specific date. Either way, I've got a collection on Monday for a reasonable if not higher than budgeted price. It is out of the way down there, I suppose.

Like you I was sceptical but what is possibly happening is this; When you respond to an email, you do so via the anonymous email address which often goes into people's junk folder. Since I've been using CG's (about 2 weeks) I've seen a few decent enquiries through, no sales as yet but there is definitely genuine life out there!
