That’s the one I use and it’s pretty accurate imo

You must be joking, you’d be on the phone to me 25 hours a day asking whether you should repair a 25mm scratch or not

I actually signed up with them not too long ago as it happens

Usually I retail my part exchanges but I expect the more I stock the more I’ll end up with wanting to dispose of some swappers. I assume the only place I can sell at the likes of BCA, Manheim etc is in the multi vendor section? Which is obviously a minefield for a buyer so I expect prices achieved in such a sphere will quite often be lower than the allowance I give the punter for their swapper. Are there any other ways to achieve higher prices or at least somewhere between cap average and clean, can you add an assured report or is that only for large independents or franchises or is it a total waste of time anyway as proper traders probably won’t even be looking in the multi vendor section anyway? cheers

I don’t know, possibly! Thank fuck for this forum though i’d be bolloxed without it.

I learned that the hard way. I took a Qashqai into my local gaff, they do a good job for fifty quid when I haven’t got time. Anyway the seat occupancy light was flashing away like a strobe when I picked it up and I didn’t clock why. My mechanic just disconnected the system for me and that was that. I passing the valet gaff a fortnight later and saw one of them washing down a seat with a sponge and soapy water like he was washing a window. That was an “aha!” Moment.

I was self employed in my former life so I wasn’t exactly a slave to the clocking in machine but even so, I still had to report to people and as the years went by I slowly gave less of a fuck about the job although the money was great. Now i’d happily earn £2k a month less and be happier even if this job is a pain in the arse at times. Nice. Even now when I look back at the 4th of January 2018 when I had my first punter I wonder how I ever sold a thing. Luckily I’ve got a sense of pride in my stock and I can detail a car to a professional standard which goes a long way. I’d be fucked if I had to fix anything beyond a basic level.

I hope so. I have a bit of an enigma at the moment, a project car. Range Rover sport. Sat Nav thinks it’s in Germany. I had the wheels refurbished and slung the old centre caps away and now I can’t find any of the right size to replace them. Little niggly jobs and I got pissed off. Then I think about going back to a job I hate and the enigmatic RR suddenly seems like a family member.

I think i’m ok with me Autosmart Brisk!

I started 6 months ago with fuck all experience but a lot of enthusiasm. I’m doing it full time, for now. If I can’t make ends meet i’ll have to get a job. It’s hard work and stressful but i’m like a pig in shit. The thought of going back to being told what to do by someone else petrifies me.

This one; https://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb351vac-1400w-20ltr-wet-dry-vacuum-cleaner-240v/56239 The blower is well handy for getting into air vents and engine bays!

The Titan one I bought works fine on carpets and I can't see why it wouldn't work on seats. You shouldn't be getting the seats soaking wet anyway cos it plays havoc with the seat belt sensor. Use Autosmart Brisk which doesn't over wet the fabric.

Surely you need a mechanics forum.

Wouldn’t it have been simpler to flip for a grand?

Reduced mate. It did the trick, the punter had been keeping an eye on it and it seems the reduction was enough to push him in to it. I gave him £300 under book for his swapper though so will claw a little back that way.

Movex. Just stipulate on the “post a job” section that the car can’t be driven. Most of the transporters that have turned up here have winches. All of them actually.

Ha ha! nah this fella is old school, proper east London type, says what he likes and like what he’s says etc swapper is as described too

Citroen sold this morning, deposit paid.

Benji look at it like this; A third party warranty is an insurance policy. It insurers YOU because you don’t have to pay out claims (that’s the theory) It doesn’t give the billy any more or any less coverage or rights. It may well add some weight to your website if you splash a well known face/brand all over your website but that’s all it does. A customer is entitled to certain rights (much lamented elsewhere on this forum) and it has fuck all to do with warranties, either third party or self administered. Whether the billy knows that or not, well, that’s a different story. Quite a few traders on here don’t offer warranties but prep their cars to a high standard and stand by their obligations legally. That’s all you need to know and do.

Not sure whether they would be perceived as a little underpowered?

As I said, I know what your opinion is on this but it’s a fact of life that internet shopping is supported by reviews. It’s not something I worry about but I do collect reviews as every little helps. Just because you do well without having reviews isn’t conclusive proof that they are worthless. Just as my experience of a few of my buyers mentioning my positive reviews isn’t proof that people won’t buy without them.
-
Because online feedback is important these days. I know you don’t think so, you have your opinion but people buy online these days and one of the first things they do, is read reviews.

Yes I think thats what I'll do. I'm dying to get rid of this C4 so if I have to let him take it away whilst I take his swapper and rely on him to get me the new V5 with the original plate on it, so be it. He sounds pretty gentlemanly and old school (famous last words) so should be fine.
