Multiple locking nut keys NONE of which fit the bolt pattern of that car. Four rear load covers, none of them fit the Audi Avant they were in. A Nokia 6150. Brand new, unused in unopened box in the spare wheel well. A fake Cartier watch. But there was a day or two of excitement before I had it looked at :-) a £50 note in the sun visor of an old Saxo (how they missed it at BCA I'll never know) A used vehicle sales invoice for £14000 one year before I gave £5500 for it in part ex.

Never got a UBER ride? Never talked to the UBER driver? They all want one. Estate. Not pretty but who cares :-) There are plenty of people lusting after every car make and model currently on sale. Mazda Bongo and Mitsuoka Viewt included :-)

+1 with the exception of the CarGiant number plates on the car. I am so used to seeing horrible scuffed cars all over London with these plates (although they were not sold in that condition) that I genuinely offer less for part exes that come wearing them.

Help...... unusual one! Customer dosnt want full refund!
Nick M.K. replied to Traderup's topic in General Dealer Chat
That customer would be crazy to accept a full refund +1 ??? -
The last one I had from the old model (it was 2010, 60 reg), 80K miles, 3 owners sold for £6750 after HUGE interest. It was the hybrid but yours at 34K miles should sell within two weeks with some national advertising. Huge demand for low mileage petrols in London and under five grand.

15 year old diesel at £1650 will be a Ford or something French with below average miles or might even be German with 150K+ miles. I'll go German. A diesel Vauxhall at that age will be nearer the £650 mark :-) -

Hahahahaha. The saddest thing is, this wasn't even a joke. -

NO. He is entitled to get a refund or repair and also you are entitled to offer a refund or repair. The electric window isn't a big issue on an end-of-life car, the coolant loss (if major) IS. Offer him the repair once again reiterating that a courtesy vehicle is not an option here and ultimately he will probably come around. -
Cars are just cars, they all do the same thing, only in different ways. In the UK they don't show if you are somewhere or nowhere in life. On a practical level though I always feel more tired and depressed after 2 hours in traffic in an old french manual supermini than in a newish german automatic. I think manual gearboxes should be banned on H&S grounds.

Now drive it 30-40 miles to make sure this is what the problem was before you give it back.

Here is a very honest option: BUY IT. I don't understand the need of people to "see how" a 7 year old car drives. Mine could drive great, another could drive s***, a third could be remapped and have much better performance, a fourth could have a blocked EGR valve and feel sluggish. They don't need to test drive them all. Test drive one that you like the look of, buy it if you are happy. If you don't like how it drives TELL ME. Don't say stupid things like I have to talk to my wife and I know where you are now...

If it's good as the OP says it must be worth the extra £600 he is paying. Hopefully the only surprise he gets is the fast sale. P.S. I LOVE 12 year old Bimmers. It's the 6 year old "low mileage" ones that scare me.

I recall giving a value :-)

No, yours will be in the mid 60s. "Had a similar size and shape BMW for 10 years, now I fancy something sportier plus I don't care about brands and badges anymore"

AutoTrader ad attention grabber: BEST TIME OF THE YEAR TO BUY ONE. Advertise it for £5500 - £6K, use the word Exceptional several times in your ad and don't rush into a quick sale. A lady in her mid-50s will turn up on time, look for no more than 10 minutes, maybe drive, maybe not and give you your asking price. "Always wanted one and now that the kids have left the house I can finally have it". *Whatever you do don't take her Zafira or S-Max in part exchange, allow WBAC to make something out of all this :-) *If gentlemen in their mid-50s call you to "pop-in and have a quick look at it, have been looking for over 10 months now" tell them the truth: the car is reserved for a lady and she is coming soon to pick it up.

Exporting a VAT Qualifying used car to Jersey
Nick M.K. replied to Nick M.K.'s topic in General Dealer Chat
The buyer has agreed to pay that but it's that last bit that bothers me. I will get his proof of export etc, then will refund him his VAT and one day, years from now (up to 6) when the HMRC does a check on me and takes a keen interest in this one export deal they might come back and say: you are missing one signature here, a date on this form there, you'll have to pay us back the £2800 VAT that you deducted. But I like a long distance deal, I like knowing these sort of things and after next year EVERY overseas deal will be subject to these "exporting outside the EU rules*" so I might as well get up to speed and learn them now: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/personal-export-scheme-notice-707 *For VAT purposes the Channel Islands are considered the same as outside the EU- 16 replies

Exporting a VAT Qualifying used car to Jersey
Nick M.K. replied to Nick M.K.'s topic in General Dealer Chat
I found this online, never used this PDF filler before, on my Mac I just get an empty page. HMRC said the form is only available on paper, has 4 different coloured copies and they are posting it to me. The deal is happening on Saturday though and I suspect the HMRC will not be using 1st class post :-)- 16 replies

No, definitely not. There is no system for him in Jersey to do that.- 16 replies

I have a customer for a BMW which he wants to buy here but export it personally to the Channel Islands (Jersey). The car is 2014, 64 reg, VAT Qualifying. There is NO Vat in the Channel Islands so he wants to buy it VAT Free, either pay me the full price and I refund the VAT element later after he has exported it or just pay the price ex VAT. Has anyone dealt with such an export recently?? HMRC Live Chat doesn't work and I've been holding on their phone line for 40 minutes.

They probably do on nearly new stuff but as you say on older cars there is such extensive trail available free online that it would be stupid to try and "haircut" for the sake of a couple of hundred pounds. Where the trade left off years ago private owners have taken over.
