  1. I know that mate, just find it frustrating. I genuinely believe their market share will drop over next 5 years.
  2. I have actually had quite an increase on ebay over the past 3-6 months. Dont get sod all from gumtree though unless i have a cheapie.
  3. People who ask to see a car at a stupid time and even though they sound sincere, they then dont turn up.
  4. Whilst i agree with you, i believe it to be scandalous how much they put the prices up year on year. Margins have not increased. IVe been with autotrader online since the very start circa 2000 i believe.
  5. Good ol Norfolk and people are still buying diesels no problem at all. In fact i would say 70% of my sales are diesel.
  6. I do my own warranties but to the few ( 1-2 a month ) that go to punters too far away to make it feasible for them to bring the car back if there was a fault, then i put on an Autogroup warranty. Normally i put on their ultimate cover which is the highest of the 3 categories they do.
  7. Remember many years ago after only just starting on my own having a little Civic up for £3195 which was all the money. Was quite happy to get £2995 for it. Had a chap come in with quite a late plate Frontera that he absolutely hated to drive. He asked would i take it in but i wasnt overly interested. So i asked the question what do you want for it. He said give me £200 and take the Frontera. I said ok and sold it a week later for £7995.
  8. The petrol NOX sensor does have a regeneration of sorts. And upcoming petrols will have particulate filters as well.
  9. Sold 3 yesterday. Micra Auto, Insignia Diesel and a Suzuki Jimny. Got someone looking at a 12 plate Fiesta TDCi tomorrow. Great start.
  10. I dont make a fortune from car sales but when combined with the workshop then the company does well. Ive done the pre internet era and the internet era. As someone says its adapt or die. Ive actually found it quite motivational reading this forum. Nice to see others having the same highs and lows as myself.
  11. It depends on the value of the car ,etc in my opinion. Do it on a 15k car, dont do it on a 5k car. What i would suggest is this- Learn to do it yourself. Its tricky to master but if you have the time to learn and to do the work, then its not that difficult to refurb wheels etc. On this particular example i would touch in the bumper.
  12. Absolutely mental. Crazy price
  13. Being honest I am going to build it and worry about it later.
  14. My family bought a massive ex franchise but in a rural location in 1999. Just got permission for 2 big houses which wont even cover a quarter of the site. I'm putting one of these up for myself next year. A few years time, sell the rest and sit in the sun.
  15. Exactly my take on things. I do a bit of finance, earn a bit of commission but at same point I dont really push it.
  16. Im gonna take 3 days off and back on the 28th December. Normally sell 4 or 5 that week so with building a new house i need every penny i can get.
  17. As has been said on here so many times, buying is the hardest part of the job. I buy quite a few private, have a little ad in the local rag saying i buy cars for cash with full history. Do 3-4 a month from that.
  18. Most of the tv/media sales advisors have been in the trade and then slag it off. Didnt that smarmy Quinten Wilson get done in the 80's for clocking cars??
  19. It seems like you have a very run well business but i am quite surprised you do not MOT yourself. Its by far our most profitable stream in the business.
  20. +1 on this. Ivor Searle are not cheap but very good quality. NEVER had a problem with recon engine, box, turbo or anything from them. Highly regarded.
  21. +1 for this, especially with the karcher tablets in it.
  22. I do discount some cars. As long as i am happy with my bottom line on the car then its another deal done. Yes i may wait a fortnight and get another £200 for the car but i would rather buy another and sell another in that timescale.
  23. Personally dont think the double advertising will make much difference. December is december. Can be busy, can be shite. Reasonable of auto trader to do it but the price hike in the past few years still leaves me of the opinion that they are money grabbing c**ts.
