  1. Tough one. If I was a customer and I would have bought a 5k car and 2 months later and with not many miles I wouldnt expect to be told that brake discs and pads are wear and tear. They should have been done pre sale in my opinion. The amount of cars Ive had in the workshop from the car shop that want brakes, exhausts etc within 3 months if far too high.
  2. Cannot comment for others but ive never sold many in the 10 days or so leading up to the budget. Luckily the first half of the month has seen me through. Bought 3 out of an auction today tho.
  3. Are Blue a finance house or a broker? LB
  4. Coldnt agree more. Genuinely do not know how they keep their reputation. In our workshop we have had more late plate VW issues than anything else. LB
  5. Depends on what years, mileage etc they are? LB
  6. I quite like Cazana as well. Overvalues the odd car by miles but on the whole its good . £35+ VAT a month is a good deal too.
  7. I had a very good September and footfall for October has been very poor. BUT ive had a lot of repeat business in October along with a couple of vehicles that i have sourced for people. All in all I am a bit above where i would expect to be.
  8. Agree with this. IVe lost count how many times ive laughed at a customer over the past 20 years
  9. Agree. Ive been doing it this way for 15 years too. Obviously if I think there is a doubt i go but on the whole i dont.
  10. No. Insurance company are happy with trade plate test drives despite being unacompanied
  11. 15 years ago it was common place. Much rarer nowadays.
  12. I pay a bit extra on my annual premium a year and do unaccompanied test drives. I take a copy of driving licence and details and keep for 6 months for speeding fines etc. Write down name and time the test drive went out. Worked for me like this for several years. I run a busy MOT bay and workshop as well and quite frankly unless the person is nervous or would prefer me to come with them, I just dont have time.
  13. Test the battery. If it tests faulty, put a good quality one on and go from there. Had 2 Fiestas running rough last month. Both cured by new batteries
  14. I use Close and Moto Novo for prime deals. I earn more from Moto Novo but Close look after me better Advantage or First response for sub prime. First response have amazing customer service.
  15. I had 2 go to Cyprus last year. Take the money . I look forward to them. Never going to have to worry about a comeback.
  16. Agreed. All Ladas had good heaters. Back in the days sold a few of the 4 wheel drive lookalikes. Cossacks or something? Issue withe the Mercs is normally the little electric motor in the steering column fails. Allegedly you can get a similar one from Maplins but never tried. If the lock wont disengage the car will not start. There are a few companies repairing them but you have to send the lock, the key and the eis unit.
  17. Very common fault. If it wont come off, the unit and key may have to go away for repair. Done a couple
  18. If the cars were sensibly priced I would be there!
  19. Good luck to you but i would say this is a long term job. Look after customers, prep your cars well and be honest. Over the years you will get more and more repeat business and hopefully make more money. Thats my take on it anyway.
  20. Funny month. Can be dead. Can be superb. Last week before christmas pretty dead but normally do a few the week between christmas and new year
  21. Obviously we can now ( with a motors subscription ) post cars direct to the facebook market place Anybody tried this and get any results?
  22. i was in a very similar position but bought loads this week.
  23. 2 today. 6.5k Meriva and 7.7k X-Trail.
